  • The Mendip Way comprises, the West Mendip Way (approx 30 miles) and the East Mendip Way (approx 20 miles), both of which are in Somerset, England.
The West Mendip Way starts at Uphill near Weston-super-Mare on the Bristol Channel and finishes at the Wells & Mendip Museum in Wells. The Way was opened in May 1979 to commemorate the Jubilee year of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977.
The East Mendip Way starts at the Wells & Mendip Museum in Wells and finishes at the Cheese and Grain in Frome. It is an extension of the West Mendip Way.
I backpacked the whole of the Mendip Way which took me four days to complete. I walked in an easterly direction and my daily schedule was:-
Day 1 - Uphill to Winscombe, 11 miles (camped near Winscombe).
Day 2 - Winscombe to Priddy, 13 miles (camped at C & CC Site).
Day 3 - Priddy to Croscombe, 10 miles (camped just off the route).
Day 4 - Croscombe to Frome, 15 miles.

I holidayed in this area as a child, lovely to see Crook's Peak again. How I miss England.

The walk from Crook's Peak along the ridge towards Winscombe is one I would like to do again but in better weather. Hopefully you'll get back one day and do it yourself too, atb Simon

Another interesting hike and interesting too see you are continuing on to bath. I looked at the route on the Map and I could possibly use it to get to the coast for my journey to lands end ambition’s.
On a different subject I recently started looking after a large neglected garden one day a week and hopefully I shall get it looking better within 18 months. I’m enjoying it although I’m akeing a lot today. Saw a newt in the undergrowth too today, that was exciting.
    Anyway ATB.
Ohh it has a small overgrown orchard section but I’m going to get a tree surgeon in to remove most of them.
    👍🍺

Yes, Cotswold Way to Bath, Saxons Kings Way, then the Mendip Way. Which crosses the English Coast Path near Uphill! ECP takes you to Minehead, then the SWCP to Land's End (it's my preferred route atm, 🤔).
Sounds like you've a big job on your hands there but rewarding when it's finished. Are you going to re-plant the orchard for your bees?
