Hussain Dawood, Chairman of @EngroCorp & @thedawoodfoundation312, is the leader of one of Pakistan's oldest business families - who were instrumental in supporting Pakistan's economy after independence.
The Dawoods belong to Karachi's Memon community, which is renowned for its natural inclination towards entrepreneurship and immense philanthropic contributions to the city.
This presentation is part of "Faces of Karachi" - a collaboration with the TDF MagnifiScience Centre
He ia great man. He knows how Pakistan came into existence. We need people like Mr Dawood who can put us on right track. We should invite him to universities to share his experiences of life and how to be successful. We need someone like Mr Dawood to be our leader. We dont need illeterate

To restore 50s60s wala successful Karachi/Pakistan, the city Karachi must be declared a separate territory from sindh, governed by its own set of rules and laws and an autonomous authoritative body like we had in the 50s60s

Your views about Karachi is real truth I'd say bitter truth for open our eyes. Everybody claim Mini Pakistan but nobody own or take responsibility. Everyone comes here without sharing in building only share for looting, disrupting & for ruin this lovely City. I met with Mexican Ambassader & many others they told me that they spent their lovely moments, a lot of memories also some of them studied there from Asian & African peoples. Now they don't want to visit anymore because of law & order. In the past they visited Karachi with our renowned asset PIA. After listening that I was shocked & my eyes with some tears in my eyes of sorrow.

We need to do so so so much more than anyone can imagine.
It is terrifying to see the population growing outside the means or capacity of this country. It's even more terrifying to see the poorly managed resources , infrastructure and lawlessness and unaccountability. Running away will not solve the problems of the rich or poor of this nation.
The good people of this country have to sacrifice once more and the scourge has to be converted into true human resources so the nation can lift itself from a self inflicted misery.

Hussain Dawood and a few other memons in Karachi have helped us build the country and then continually helped the country grow but the country has always betrayed them. I hope he lives to see some sort of improvements in Karachi. He lost his son and grandson in titanic submarine incident and will leave almost everything for his philanthropic foundation

Despite all the odds, Karachi still manages to contribute 4.4 trillion in taxes, while the rest of Pakistan contributes 1.5 trillion. Out of this 1.5 trillion, the entire interior sindh contributes only 50 crores. In the 1950s and 1960s, when we (Urdu-speaking & Memon) were in charge, we elevated this country to become the 3rd largest economy among 22 Asian countries. We, the Urdu-speaking community, played a leading role in every aspect of life when Karachi was the capital. Our contributions extended to fields such as Science and Technology (SUPARCO space program), PCSIR, Banking, Education, Sports, Television, Print Media, Music, Airline, Shipping, Export Industry, Nuclear bomb, and Nuclear energy, (to name a few) all of these were destroyed by the shift of the capital to punjab and bhutto's devastating, brutal, murderous, sickening, painful, and destructive nationalization

We were never incompetent,we were were the people known for hardworking However, we have never engaged in proper planning and have tended to prioritize short-term gains.We lack a clear vision of our direction, and this is affecting us. We need comprehensive planning, from the economy to infrastructure, like other countries implement.

The capital should be shifted back to Karachi... This dajjaal sindhi/punjabi dagga model of governance both Federal & State has proven itself to be the most corrupt & also economically irresponsible. They cannot manage money because they come with a born to rule attitude
I agree that changing the capital was a corrupt move by Ayub Khan, harboring hatred towards others is not constructive. Did Punjabis, Balochis, and Pashtuns not contribute to made this country?

The highest tax payers in karachi are also migrants from India. Looks like people who didnt come from India contribute peanuts to the economy of Pakistan. The Richest families in Pakistan also from migrants from India.
