That’s exactly the reason why I haven’t injected mine. The muscles I’ve developed not only help with skin laxity but help prop my cheeks up a bit as well.
I grind my teeth so I got 50 units of botox in each massater muscle, It was great not grinding my teeth, but oh my gosh, my face slimmed out so much. I didn't like it at all! Then, after about four months, I started noticing jowels. I decided not to reinject and just got a mouth guard, It looks so much better already. My face went back to looking defined and my jowels have lessened
I just put 20 units in each masseter for a gentle slimming and filled my temples. That way I was able to put more filler in my cheeks and it didn't look out of proportion which lifted everything up and it looks great. I'm back to a heart-shaped face.
Honestly im 34 and got injections twice in Masseter for my tmj. It helped a lot but i have significant jowling. I can feel how overworked my other facial muscles are trying to take over for the job of the Masseter
is it advisable? also, those botox for massetter is it the same botox that they inject in the forehead and cheeks that droops in time? pls enlighten me
How was it? I suffer significantly because of tmj to the point I cracked one of my teeth 😭 I am considering this approach but I’m quite scared of the side effects.
Don't be scared!! My sister did it and shared incredible resulting for clenching and she looked so pretty with slim jaw. I tried it and loved the none grinding, did notice the howling slightly but Botox wears off quickly enough after 2 months I didn't see any effects but no grinding has basically stayed away since and it's been almost a year. I really think there's no harm in trying. Ask for a low dose. It's worth the experience so you know. @@datawithrez
You poor thing. I have TMJ, and regularly get Botox in my masseters but still experience a lot of pain. Have you tried doing any exercises for the TMJ? There are some really good exercise videos on RUclips. I now do them even on the couch when watching a movie. I’ve only been doing them for a few weeks, but they are helping the tension in the area a lot.
Thank you. I'm 69 and my dermo says no problem with me getting these injections. After seeing this, I am definitely not going to risk it. I already have some jowling as it is.
It causes major jowls and it helps to go and get pdo threads to pull back the skin and tighten this is the only thing that has helped me and a lot with just trying to lose weight
In my experience, masseter Botox can result in ~permanent~ atrophy (as opposed to the temporary results of Botox for wrinkles): I had both masseters injected for migraines & 20 years later I still have one 'normal' & one atrophied muscle (why it worked on one & not the other, I don't know). Being now in my mid-40s & otherwise un-saggy, I've thought about getting the normal side re-injected, but watching this video, I'll stick with a bit of asymmetry rather than risking jowls.
This happened to me. I’m only 35. But I look SO bad with my huge jaw, I look a lot better with 20 units on each side. Only now yes, I have some jowels. How do I treat them to make them go away? Is a facelift what I need?
i have been grinding my teeth at night for years, and clenching my jaw through the day. my jaw is almost always sore and achey, is this botox something to consider?
Do you still see a reduction in TMJ pain on.patients that tried Botox injections for migraines but didn't get much migraine relief? Been looking into it...😮
My injector mentioned this the last time I got botox in my jaw. I'm only 27 so it likely won't be a concern for a little while, but I think that even if it were a concern right now, the pain relief would be worth it for me. TMJ pain can be pretty disabling.
There’s not enough info given on Botox on the masseters. I do it for bruxism and TMJ and was concerned about the same thing, and the doctor looked at me blindly and gave me no answer. I do this for health, but just want to ensure i know of the side effects long term.
FALSE!!!! I was 34 when I injected 10 units of botox on each side into my masseter as teeth grinding treatment. Dr. wanted to do 15-20 units of botox I said 10 units because I wanted to be conservative with it. Within a month my lower face sagged and hollowed out. It not only slimmed my face it made me look like a walking skeleton with saggy jowls and loose skin. I was so unhappy and depressed. I was told to fix it with filler but I opted not to do that. It took my face about 18 months to fully fill out and look plump and youthful again. It was $600 of regret! I will never touch my face with needles again.
what should you do if you got it for TMJ and have slight jowling in your 20s, how can i reverse this? thanks for the clarity on such a specific subject! love your content
is it advisable? also, those botox for massetter is it the same botox that they inject in the forehead and cheeks that droops in time? pls enlighten me
When you get your muscle strength back, the volume of the muscles increases, and the soft tissues lift again. I haven’t had botox but I can’t think of anything else. However I’ve also heard that using botox continuously and for a long time, can actually cause muscles to atrophy permanently. They will probably always grow bigger as soon as you stop, but maybe after using botox for a long time, they won’t be able to grow as big as they used to. Google it and see what you find. One thing to keep in mind though, the masseters are extremely strong, and since we use them so consistently, I think the risk of them becoming atrophied is a lot smaller than let’s say, your forhead muscles. Getting larger masseters is a bit like getting a face lift 🤪 Maybe not the look most women want, but, still!
No, for me it didnt go back to normal. Its been 4 years since my treatment for TMJ. I got the injection in just one side and the jowl is just on the side I got treatment
@@kingk1648 could it be facial asymmetries that has come up on a skeletal level? possibly? just throwing it out there. that is, contrary to what many believe, possible; our skulls consist of lots of bones that can change position right at the sutures even as adults. it's not very well known, but it's true. hello, i’m 18 and i’ve had TMJ for basically my whole life, and because of this i have had a really noticeable overbite and sharp square jaw. do you think this botox would help with slimming my face down?
Do I have to keep coming back or can I relieve my issue long term through one procedure? All I want to do is break up how solid my muscle is on one side of my face. It’s causing a lot of asymmetry
I wonder if I have this too. One side of my face has been swollen for a few years! I mentioned it to doctor and dentist with no treatment. How did you find out what was causing it?
Orrrrrrr you've got 'Ozempic face' no matter the age of you've lost a significant amount of weight. I will add....jowls vs comfort/relief. It's an easy decision for some- more difficult for others. Ty for the info!❤

What do you mean?
I wish I had my before and after pics to show as an example of why not to do it when you are 50! I’m not doing it anymore!
Oh I didn’t know. In what way? Does the masseters sort of ”push” or ”lift” the soft tissues closer to the cheeks?

Yes it will... and even after 4 years, they still remain
How many times did you get masseter Botox?
@kingk1648
Thank you for your valuable information! Can you offer references I'm the west Portland, Oregon area?
What can you do if you had botox injections a few years ago? Can you recover or work to prevent this from happening?

If it’s for headaches, clinching, etc. is it covered by insurance?
no
Yes if it’s a medical reason/treatment
still generally not covered--I've asked many companies@@msanngie565
It is if you go to a neurologist.
ugh, i need this because the sides of my jaw are huge now. I'm constantly clenching my jaw now
You mean after botox?
would the jowls improve by stopping the masseter botox or is this a permanent thing?
So it slims the muscles and that’s how the face sliming appears?
It has happened to me, I had botox 4 years in a row, and it gave me jowls. 1 year free of botox, and my jaw looks much better
What if you are chubby will that give jowls too?
I want to know that too
What about EDS? I have EDS and I'm thinking about getting Botox for the first time. Would I be at risk because of EDS?
is it advisable? also, those botox for massetter is it the same botox that they inject in the forehead and cheeks that droops in time? pls enlighten me
I’d risk jowls over the excruciating TMJ pain I have that feels like someone stabbing a pencil in my ear.
Is Jowls reversible like once the Botox wears off?

My denist has recommended this to me because i have TMJ and erosion on the jaw im worried now
I did not know you could get that for grinding your teeth! I’ve been grinding my teeth for years, very sore jaws…
I want to cry, I got jawline botox and neck botox and now I have neck atrophy. 😢
How long ago did you get the Botox??
@@RD-ds2cc Fabruary.
How long does it last?
i believe 6 months but depends on how ur body reacts to it
It happened to me after Vaser liposuction and bichectomy after 40 years old😢now I'm checking the facelift surgeons.
Hey everyone. I believe we can use jaw excercise tools to bring back the massseter muscle quicker
For tmj what was the highest units u have given to a patient?
How I can and meet with you I have a teeth grinding problem
Same happens with filler and jaw shaving.
When I touch that part of my face I only feel bone?

My face is slim but since late November 2022 I’ve had some parotid salivary gland swelling wondering if this can help with that.
Yes I did is work
