@nottheredbaron AMEN to that! Tori hit her peak in 1996 - I really wish she'd release some of THOSE soundboard recordings. She recorded every show and during that tour performed EVERY SONG from her catalogue, including several YKTR songs. Those live shows would be a phenomenal release!
honestly i just need to tell you how this performance lives in my heart. I come back to listen to it at a weekly basis. Thank you so much for uploading!
@Grinnygog1975 Alas, only "Horses" and "Putting the Damage On" from that performance are on RUclips. I need to get my videotape out and post it. It is as good, if not better, than this! My favorite part is her maniacal " hey YES!" after "too many able fires", which I've never seen her spaz out over again like that! The performance DID appear on ONE bootleg CD, WILD HORSES, which cover had Tori with a vampire look.
If you want the video to this version - there IS hope. Tori performed this song on MTVs 120 Minutes a few days before PELE was released. I actually think THAT performance is the definitive version of the song. It ALSO has an introduction including bits of what would become "Apollo's Frock" predating this I believe - it wasn't as formed yet.
Been a long time since i even looked at this channel... hours i put into it.... again i find myself back in the same state. hurt and broken just like then. (hereinmyhead101) for anyone who remembers
Yeah, that's what I thought, too! It's cool that it eventually got its own song, though :>) I didn't know this part of its formation. Both of them are personal favorites. This is a treat!
this must be the seed for apollo's frock - the improv is the first verse, and she even uses the "i'm losing you in my rear view" in the 2nd verse - i knew there must be some connection to the doughnut song but didn't realize how directly connected it was - i wonder if they are about the same person - tori continually amazes me :D
wow, its sooo beautiful! ive got it on my mp3, and sometimes i hear it, i have to cry. and i can write poems very well, when i hear this song! i love it!
this is a good song to listen to as a break-up, getting over it song. very special message in this song. first she starts off like its the mans fault, then she switches it round and makes it both of their faults, mostly the guy that it is about.

Note the "losing you in my rear view" line which eventually wound up (slightly different) in "a sorta fairytale."
I don't care that the video doesn't match the audio. I put my headphones on, attend to something else, and enjoy this absolute masterpiece.
exactly! haha
yes this is one of her best performances of doughnut song...and one of my favorite, most passionate songs of hers
WHOA. Is that "Apollo's Frock" at the beginning!!! Way back then, huh? Neat.
honestly i just need to tell you how this performance lives in my heart. I come back to listen to it at a weekly basis. Thank you so much for uploading!

one of my favorites... on so many levels
I have seen tori use the line "Get off the cross we need the wood" as early as 1992 which ended up on big wheel on ADP
Achingly beautiful!!!!
this is so freaking good.
Breathtaking!!
One of the best versions of this song because of the intro! :) :) :)

I love tori. it doesn't matter if its 1996 or 2009. She is the lost & the loved.
The lost and the loved? Huh?

It seems it was written over time in pieces, it seems tori writes this way a lot.
