    I really like the reorientation of a mesh that has its local coordinates totally misaligned back into world coordinate frame, but this tip inspired me to take it one step further. Your model in this example has plains that can line up perfectly with the world coordinate frame, but in the case of a model that is perhaps more organic, angular, etc. (what I will call a 'complex mesh') that does not have those faces then you can create sort of a reorientation cube (what I will call a 'reorientation cube' lol) at the start of the modeling process as a precautionary measure, put it off to the side and combine it with the mesh you will be modeling. If at any point during the modeling process the mesh's coordinate frame is no longer the same as the world's then we can use the complex mesh's reorientation cube in your method instead of trying to kinda fudge it with the surfaces on the complex mesh itself, thereby returning the mesh back into the world coordinate frame perfectly.
    I know this does require foresight, but if anyone wants to be taking 3D modeling seriously it is something they might want to consider.
    Thanks for the tips bro! And I hope my contribution will help someone out.

    17:00 what i would do (a bit faster I think):
    - Delete the inner square line
    - Select the cylinder edge (where the union happened)
    - Bevel (exact distance on every vertex) with option to increment segment (you got 3 line with one command)

    • @niemanickurwa
      @niemanickurwa 3 года назад +4

      Once you know the programs reasonably well you can interchange the tutorials, I use Blender but like Mussi's Maya tutorials a lot, he's an good teacher and hard surface modeller. Some of the function names are different, but you can see what he's doing and translate it into Blender. So if you're a Maya user, you can do the same with Blender tutorials.

    I wonder why the mirror tools are still so shitty in Maya. I've been using it for like 16 years, and I love it, but why haven't they come up with a mirror deformer or something, something that is always active, no matter how freestyle you're modelling. Maya's mirroring is completely useless when you intend to use meshsmoothed objects unless you prepare some fancy setup beforehand that takes care of the welding by some serious nodemagic. I wish Autodesk was flexible like Blender who actually listen to their customers. ;)
