Luke O'Shaughnessy that sort of interaction always comes up in these Q&A. The reason is he denies the usefulness of language to describe reality. When he says something and you agree, then he has to say no. It is impossible to agree or to disagree with UG within his frame.
Millions and millions of thoughts out there, (sciences, religions, philosophy, history culture, technology, maths and logic, health and fitness) What is the relevance of all these after you die? I am really interested to know what the curent saints, sages, gurus, sadhgurus, Satgurus, metaphysicist and all the Vedantic scholars think and say about UG. I studied most philosophies and finally anchored on advaita vedanta but after listening to UG, it feels like I'm back to square one. I wish he was alive today, it would be interesting to have him on the debate panel with all the spiritual and religious scholars.
What makes U.G. much more significant than the others is; he got right to the point, unlike the others... a ton of his followers and many of his interviewers reached out to him. He did not think what he was saying is a big deal and he was right, it's actually not that important. That's why the quote 'Before enlightenment; chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood and carry water.' exists as a quote. It's not a big deal.
Once you accept thought/language is a fabrication, which creates values, beliefs, all knowledge, that underpins everything we think is valid and true, then that is the end of the conversation. It is impossible to accept any other possibility. That is the bind. It is depressing and morbid to you because you cannot imgaine that being reality. That is your projection. You experincing a "wakeful state" is nothing more than what happens when we accumulate experience. It's just a normal function of the brain and mind as our awareness grows and it happens to everyone at various points of their life. That is not a spiritual experience. Having an "OBE" is also not a spiritual experience, it's a neurological phenomenon. Those are basic, common experiences. UG is talking about people who spend their whole lives chasing after enlightenment and one day believe that they have become so. All that knowledge creates the experience of "enlightenment" in exactly the same way as a Reborn Christian is filled with the "holy spirit". They know all about the holy spirit and they know all about what the experience will be like because they hvae read about it and watched other go through it and describe it for years and years. And UG isn't saying that there is no reality and that we are nothing. In fact,he says that the reality that we live in is the ONLY reality. this man is not spiritual at all. he says the only reason we have spiritual experiences is because we wish it to happen because of hearing it from other people. i had a wakeful state experience before i even believed in the soul not to mention out of body experiences as a child and no one was telling me any of this was possible so how could i have imagined or wished it upon myself when i had not thought about it prior. he eats glue and sawdust and seems to hold humanity in contempt with his crazy and empty philosophy. seriously i don't know how he has the will to live this long with such a depressing and morbid ideology. and in the end i he had no real answers to give besides there is no reality and we are nothing. *shiver*

You experincing a "wakeful state" is nothing more than what happens when we accumulate experience. It's just a normal function of the brain and mind as our awareness grows and it happens to everyone at various points of their life. That is not a spiritual experience. Having an "OBE" is also not a spiritual experience, it's a neurological phenomenon.
Those are basic, common experiences.
UG is talking about people who spend their whole lives chasing after enlightenment and one day believe that they have become so. All that knowledge creates the experience of "enlightenment" in exactly the same way as a Reborn Christian is filled with the "holy spirit". They know all about the holy spirit and they know all about what the experience will be like because they hvae read about it and watched other go through it and describe it for years and years.
And UG isn't saying that there is no reality and that we are nothing. In fact,he says that the reality that we live in is the ONLY reality. All of that "I experienced a wakeful state" and "I left my body" are not reality, but a superimposition of ideas onto experiences generated by the mind itself.
