U.G. Krishnamurti, listen to his penetrating voice describing life and reality as it is. What is body and what is mind? Is there a soul? Is there a beyond, a God? What is enlightenment? Is there a life after death? Never before have these questions been tackled with such simplicity, candour and clarity. In these unpublished early conversations with friends (1967-71), U.G.discusses in detail his search for the truth and how he underwent radical biological changes in 1967. Preferring to call it the natural state over enlightenment, he insists that whatever transformation he has undergone is within the structure of the human body and not in the mind at all. It is the natural state of being that sages like the Buddha, Jesus and, in modern times, Sri Ramana, stepped into. And U.G.never tires of pointing out that 'this is the way you, stripped of the machinations of thought, are also functioning.
Who was this UG? What kind of person was he? He was the most enigmatic person you could ever meet - at once kind and cruel, most loving yet stern, constantly talking about money, seeming to ‘extract’ it from friends, yet most generous in giving; seemingly abusive and punishing, yet showering affection on the same person the next moment; utterly carefree, yet worrying about what might happen to the person in front of him; directing people to act in specific ways, yet instantly accepting of any outcome; demonstrating the most incisive logic, yet making utterly contradictory statements. For a man who complained that we are constantly preoccupied with something other than what is happening at the moment, he endlessly talked about himself and his past. One could never fathom UG’s true intentions behind his statements or actions.
His answers to our questions came straight like arrows, unsettling our minds. He was well-known for striking down not only the edifices we have so carefully built in our own minds but the foundations of human thought as a whole. UG was truly enigmatic, subversive and revolutionary, and totally fearless.
There was a unique energy with UG: in speech or in stillness it was constant and vibrant, and had a profound effect on those who were around him.
And let this be told: when UG rejected the notion of soul or atman and declared that our search for permanence was the cause of our suffering, he sounded like the Buddha; when he blasted all spiritual discourses as ‘poppycock’ and thrashed the spiritual masters as ‘misguided fools’, we thought of the fiery and abusive words of the great 9th century mystic of China, Rinzai Gigen, who declared, ‘I have no dharma to give… There is no Buddha, no Dharma, no training and no realization…’ When he spoke of ‘affection’ as ‘thuds’ felt in the spot where the thymus gland is located, we related it to Sri Ramana’s declaration that the ‘true heart’ is located on the right side of the chest. Likewise we sometimes connected his radical statements to certain expressions or declarations in the Avadhuta Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, the Upanishads and Zen Koans, or compared them with the teachings of J. Krishnamurti, Nisargadatta Maharaj and even the post-modern ‘deconstructionists’. We could go on thus, making such connections and comparisons, but that did not help us to get a handle on the mystery that was UG!

UG Krishnamurti has helped me realize the illusions created by the mind. For example, the status quo of the world mind and its value systems are pure nonsense (egotistical) for the human body. This is why the human body suffers and gets sick because it is trying to get rid of the neurological defect which is thinking. The first time I heard UG I thought he was cynical or a fatalist or an antichrist, but I was dead wrong. The art of not thinking is not easy especially if you live in a culture of value systems. Culture is alive and everywhere in the globe right now in that case it's better to be just an observer. The idea of being in the now seems closer when I let go of the demand to free myself from anything. Thank you for posting and thank you UG K!

This recording is from the audio tapes called "Give Up" which were made by Henk Schoenfeld in Amsterdam around 1982. The book "The Courage to Stand Alone" was made from these tapes. I think it is one of the greatest conversations we have from UG. Because there is no copyright on UG's talks, recordings, or books -- we are so happy for this being on RUclips, but it should be free of commercials -- ideally. Today is UG's birthday (7/9/1918).

Who ever doesn’t understand what U.G. Is saying isn’t trying to understand. They just want to be argumentative. We have to use words to communicate in order to function and perform tasks in our world. We can only experience things as things because we call them things. Without our words, we don’t know what we’re looking at, touching, tasting, feeling, thinking. Animals think but they don’t think like humans. Humans think in language, images, and we use our imagination and memories/thoughts to experience things.
He’s using words to describe his state of being which is the same state every human body is already in not human thought. The human body. Eyes don’t see the word table in relation to an image we’ve memorized. The eyes see what they see. They don’t tell them selves “ I see a table”. Your organs function without one single conscious thought.
Naturalness is something that you don't have to know. You just have to let it function in its own way.

UG took this approach of materialism philosophy and I tend to agree with him. But I would have liked to hear his opinion on mind-body disorders and the subjective experience of consciousness that haven’t been explained in materialism. If the mind (thought) is an illusion, how can the illusion be so strong that it causes this apparent physiological changes ?
Don’t the constant illusions weaken the organs and muscles. It’s like an electrical energy targeting the areas weakening us. Making us sick. That’s how I understood it. I could be wrong!

Then why does he thinks or talks like he spinning away on a 'planet'.. or 'globe' that the narrative gave him? Surely someone of his caliber should see right thru the illusory bullshit of the globe 'earth' idea? Don't believe me. Go and google 'earth'.. all you're get are cartoons.
After listening to plenty of UG talks it occurred somehow that an entity isn't even possible an I isn't possible (its only available as a mirage or like a rainbow) even if you had alot of money and a cadre of engineers you couldn't do it.
The realisation, that culture as enslaved us to our physcology, the game , the weird part is why , offcourse we have to act immediately, we all gonna die lets change while we still alive.

You are surely aware that we justify our sins. Imagine the magnitude of harm that an unformed mind can cause if influenced by the lack of ethical and moral values professed by UG.

I was trying to locate the video where he met with doctor's and asked for help with his heart problem. It appears it has been wiped from the internet..
As Far as I know UG was not a heart patient or have any heart problem any time !
@BPSchauhan Actually you are definitely wrong.. at the very end of his life he was having problems with his heart.. although he was never a heart patient he did have an irregular heart beat that he was concerned about. He consulted several doctors in this video and offered any one of them who could fix his problem a lot of money .. (I believe it was $300,000.00) but the doctors were not interested in his money and did nothing to help him. This video was since removed from the internet because it showed how human he really was. I personally think his heart palpitations may have been the result of him eating canned fruit for most of his life. He once said that fresh fruit was really not fresh anyway and that he preferred canned fruit. PBA in the can linings and other things like heavy syrup and high fructose corn syrup in canned fruit can be bad for the heart.

I think understanding is not mechanical. Otherwise we have to accept the process of memory as understanding mechanism. Understanding is a quality of attention. Complete attention must be understanding without direction and no center and is faster than thought identification. So, primarily I understand and later I try to explain with the help of thoughts and language. The process is slow and not representative as any sage observed.

I heard that UG travelled with JK for almost 25 years learned from experiences of JK, now professing like his own experiences and even saying that JK is fake then what is doing with him for 25 years if he already know that he is fake. Anyway it is not a new thing, it happened in every era to great personalities like buddha and mahavira when there own disciples betrayed them.
Can you confirm he traveled with JK for 25 years? From what I have heard UG only met him a couple times. Maybe the information you heard is not true

After reading so many lectures from respected sages gurus,quantum physics, philosophical thoughts. UG summed it all up for me. I search no more. it is what it is, ILLUSIONS.
Astavakra never kept taking about one night stands, infatuation, and related things.
Clarity of Ashtavakra and confusion of UG both are extremum.
Totally nonsense to say that the knowledge about things is all you experience ...and saying it with such force doesn't make it more truth...

If not that, then how else do you experience anything? Its through language (words, knowledge) those sounds themselves in language even have been named and recognized as something therefore given meaning, is the only way you can experience anything in so called (and also named/defined) life. Without that structure, there is no way to experience anything at all. Therefore you wouldnt be able to experience "you" as you know yourself the moment that structure comes to an end.
