The baus! I got an eagle on a par 5 today using 8 iron and toe down chipping. Before the shot, I thought “tiddies to the target” and into the hole it dropped, like an undescended testicle 👏
Another excellent video. The trigger part was spot on. Everyone needs to find a confidential starting point to their pre-shot routine. I remember many, many years ago at a senior tour event, a pro asked me to step over the ropes because I was wearing a watch with a chronograph/stopwatch function. He wanted to show that he had perfected the amount of time it took for him to hit the golf ball - every single time. His pre-shot routine was always within a second of the next shot. It all started with a trigger of him standing behind the ball and looking at his target and ended the same way every single time. If something shook him off the shot he would reset. Rinse and repeat until it's perfected. It all starts with be confidential.

Matty Boom Boom! Just wanted to say I smashed through 100 today and shot a 93 during my 4th round since I got into golf as an adult. Your course management videos and the break 100 series you posted were great motivation and were insanely helpful in my rounds. Thank you!
@@GolfSidekick Thank you! Was nursing a back injury this week so I slowed everything down and jesus that makes a difference. Shorter distance on everything but misses are so much less punishing
@ericcb1!!! That’s awesome man! I used those videos when I did it as well. Amazing info and thanks for the update! Can’t wait to hear you break 90 buddy!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to point out that Matt's point on going through your routine on the range ALSO applies for going through your routine on the practice green. You will find putting practice far more effective if you force yourself to back off, find your aim spot, set up to the ball, do your practice swings, etc., as opposed to just standing over one spot, dragging balls to you, and hitting them until the putt finally drops.
Matt, 2 days in to trying to visualize my shot. So far positive results. Using fingers when I don’t have a good shot at the green. It moved my target a little based on what I would normally do. Based on Shot Pattern, I’m trying to move my shot pattern depth by clubbing up. Was long on 3 holes, but looking it was about the same result of leaving short. Thanks for all the help!
I just made it to the next level, and I had no idea how much fun, and easy it would be when I got there. It's cool. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication and practical advice.
Hi, my game is coming around after years in the doldrums. Hitting “confidential” shots and targeting where my next shots will be hit from is making a big difference in my enjoyment playing and scores. Looking forward to integrating some of the practice concepts into my prep. Found the RedTiger is a real plus, especially on approach shots and avoiding hazards. Thanks Matty!!
I shot 3 over gross today and won my club presidents cup following your protocol. I’ve never won a single comp and using your giotgr format along with fairway safe clubs is a game changer. Thank you sir
The mental stuff is so important. Played a good half round today but blew up a par4 with an 8 😢. Had a plan going into the round and stuck with the plan. The plan helped me refocus. Parred the next hole and a stress free bogey after that. Its awesome having a plan to look "forward" to, to distract myself from what just happened. Never planned my rounds before watching GS.
I use 1 finger for the trees and bunkers and 2 fingers for water. Doesn't help my game a bit. I'm taking your advice Matty and giving this a try. Thanks for another great video!
Routine is important for sure. I've always started with half PW swings before moving up, but now I start with your Charlie Chaplin stance with the PW. This allows me to see how the back and hips are feeling at that moment. As always, great video Playa!
watched Phil Mickelson say most amateurs aim too low on breaking puts. I thought he meant we weren't good at judging the apex. But no if we aim for the apex at holing speed, gravity will take effect before it gets there, aim higher. Matty and Phil will have me turning pro in next to no time
I had a round of pitch and putt and just trying to say out loud where i would land the shots helped. If i close i got a huge confidence boost and it forced me to think about where I was aiming
Hey I know you've mentioned it before, and in this video, and in the comments of every video, but what app do you use on your phone for the shot/hole distances? 😁 Another banger video. Waddaplaya. Easy game.
Matty have you ever worked as a teaching professional at a golf course or have you ever considered it? I personally would pay big bucks for the Playa to give me a lesson.
Should we have one routine for all shots or is it okay to have a few? I've found myself thinking a few lines on certain distances. I end up 40-60 yards to the pin a lot, so I practice that. So I say that I practice that...then tiddies to the target. I do something completely different for on the tee and approach shots. Played yesterday and my pre-round recon I concluded I shouldn't have used driver on most holes people would use driver. It was going to bring danger into play I sought to avoid. That was the confidentiality club yesterday. Straight when needed, fadey when needed (except once...intended to fade drive into a speed slot and cheat some yardage, and it went straight). Everything else was pretty messy by comparison.
Thanks for this post Matt. Some very interesting thoughts and process concepts. I find it difficult to get time to practice work and other life priorities often get in the way. Quality over quantity. It’s a privilege to be able to get game time every Sunday. I will take your ideas and advice with me.
You can take notes on the course playa save while you’re home. Visualizing. Another good one. When you’re washing dishes, just wash the dishes don’t think of anything else. You’ll soon do it on the course automatically

Before you try the first tip, make sure you know how to aim squarely at first. Statistically, most righty amateurs are aimed far right when they think they are aimed square.
Yeah some of it is just entertainment. If you take in too much info it’s not applicable but if you take a few things here and there it’s useful. I like mattys page because it’s more of a mindset thing

The starting line putting is amazing - i tried it - did my best to 'feet test' the break - and aimed to the line and not the apex - and the results

Great so now I have to carry a Yardstick in my bag to measure my drive dispersion
What should one do when the dispersion is wider than the width of available bodily appendages?

What sensible advice! ❤😅

What if you adjust the lie of your clubs so they are more upright and dont have as much of a right bias?

some golfers will run out of fingers and toes for dispersion ?
Use playing partners hands and toes too
