Industrial Revolution: Spinning Mills

1. Describe what life was like prior to the development of mills and industrialization.
2. Prior to the industrial revolution the process of creating fabric for clothes was done by hand with the use of manual powered (people powered) machines. This process was time consuming and demanding. Explain the process of taking raw fibers (either wool or cotton) and turning them into fabric. Include detailed explanations of carding, spinning, and weaving.
3. For most of human history machines were powered by human or animal muscle power. The new textile mills were powered by what source?

4. The first machines in the mills to be automated were the Carding machines. These were time saving but the real advance was the invention of the Water Frame.
