love love love the blend of old school craftsmanship, the warmth of wood AND the electric drive pod. A stylish, timeless and head turning design. Kudos from The Green Boater community.
14:46 You mentioned the Marilyn build going on in the Netherlands… Serdar is the best! He has been helping me behind the scenes with Temptress… explaining what tools I will need and challenges I will face. Dan - You have great and detailed boat plans. But the community of helpful boat builders you have established is the best part about building one of your boats.
Dan - I love yours and Michel’s designs. 12 minutes into the video, you show the transom. Since it is so small, could you just laminate 5-7 layers of plywood, rather than make the curved frame laminate?
That would certainly make things easier, I asked the same question when I was kitting the boat. However the disadvantage of laminating a key structural element such as this with ply is that you are reliant on the ply glue line. The other issue is that only 50% of the grain with ply used in this scenario is going in the right direction, the other 50% is almost redundant.
Love the channel - I'm retiring next year and buying a house next to the sea so am looking to make a motor launch in the style of an aquarama... will be looking at all your videos and probably be pestering you for information in the year to come :-) (Subscribed by the way)
Welcome! A boat build is perhaps the perfect retirement project, although I am perhaps a bit biased :) If you'd like a motor launch in the style of an Aquarama then take a look at our Temptress design. A little smaller and more modernised but a nice looking boat I think. Let me know if you have any questions.
Great design and video. I am a lynch motor fan as well. I have 4 in my electric narrowboat for maneuverability and one in my 50's motor boat (replacing a V8!) but I find they run very hot as do the speed controllers. Any thoughts?
I am guessing they are all air cooled? Perhaps a water cooled system would be a good idea as there isn't always a huge amount of airflow within a boats engine bay.
Would it be possible to do a half scale for using as a single seat river cruiser. I live in Wroxham Norfolk and would like a classy single seater to launch and recover easily.

Beautiful. Thank you for taking electric pod drives into account, they offer a very interesting drive option to boats.

I am really looking forward to seeing Serdar's video's. Yes we are building a great community here and I hope it continues to grow!
My favourite boat. Great lines and general appearance. I fell in love with the design ❤
Hey dan, my 20min Marliyn construction video (part-1) is almost done. I’ll hopefully upload it in my channel next week.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this! I'll put a link to your video in a card on this one when it's done.

This boat looks beautiful!

@@DanLeeBoatbuilding Thanks Dan, great work!
amazing
out of curiosity, any guesses as to finished cost would be?
hi , is this boat design and materials can handle salt water and high tamprechars ?

In theory yes but it’s actually a lot of work to re-work this for feasibly building at half scale.
I will be doing a simplified version in mahogany strip planking. Enjoying your content, Thank you.
about 7 meters long ?? … kind of like a Riva Iseo ??
Kapal yang bagus 15:46
Who else is here because it looks like the boat from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? :)
5 mph... take a rowboat already at that point.
YOU SPEND ALL THAT DESIGNING A BEAUTIFUL BOAT AND MAKE HER ELECT THATS BULL SHIT
You can put a B&S lawn mower engine in it, if it makes you happier! It's built for moving slow through narrow channels, 5-10 mph
Cut the electric crap in a beautiful boat like that.
The electric 'crap' is the best way to preserve and keep this vessel afloat.
