Enjoyed seeing the pelicans invade your decoy spread. That's something I've never experienced while duck hunting. Glad you did so you could share it on video. Really cool.
Great video.. those pelicans make me laugh. Several years ago we had 11 land in the decoys and started relaxing. Many of them fell asleep with their heads on their backs. The wind drifted one into a goose decoy and it woke up and pecked the heck out of the decoy... don't ever wake me up again.... lol
Nuit et brouillard ! Night & Fog! Nice to see Elliott & Georgie to cooperate so well to the success of this so much informative duckhunt over decoys (work of a retriever IS so nice to watch when they are so well train, obedient, enthusiast and masters are good shoots to make them work, even on occasional criples they save the Day... Thanks for sharing all these Moments Again ! WE have a Great summer 😊 Saint Hubert bless you Always !
Best duck hunt of my life was a densely foggy morning in a flooded rice field west of Sacramento. It was late 1970’s. Viz of about 20-25 yards at shooting time. Sprig swimming out of my way as I waded to the blind. I shot seven bull sprig in fifteen minutes using eight shells as I had to use one as a finisher. I’ll never forget that hunt as long as I live.
Hunt in Davis. A foggy morning can be EPIC. Usually, smash teal, and nothing better than a random green head or sprig floating by. Really fun at that 9:30 window when they start to come back
I remember the days in california when sprig were so plentiful the limit was seven, a limit of seven bull sprig was really something, sadly those days are long gone.
@3:43 good god lol i know you can blow a whistle better than that lmao. And why is that mojo so damn loud it don't flare birds at all? None of mine have ever been that loud
Pelicans are not something you would want to see in the spread, they eat fish and have been known to eat small birds, cool to see how they would act though, but they were probably confused on why the decoys were not moving!
Enjoyed it. N9ce shooting, bro. What call are you using ?It seems nice to tune to me. I am searching for a high tune call. Do you have any suggestions ?
Last time I checked pelicans are actually serious predators. Plenty of videos of them eating other birds whole. Bro was eyeing up that decoy for a snack.

Only times i did i kicked em out the pond . Was worried the ducks wouldn't land with them big things there
That was a first for me.
My thoughts exactly

Thanks Roger! Georgie is such a good dog
Great hunt, reminds me of my younger days, fog, pintail, teal and widegeon. Pelicans were an extra bonus, never seen anything like it
Thanks!
Fun hunt and some pretty ducks for early. Thanks Matt! Barry
Thanks Barry!
Nothing better then a new video as soon as I roll out of bed, Keep it up!

@@Swoopdaddyy haha was in a rush. The spinner noise is from the Bluebird Waterfowl Animator. Makes splashes and ripples. Never had ducks flare off it.

Yeah, they weren't sure what was happening
Do coot decoys really help? Love your videos cant get enough of bird hunting
I believe they do. The black color offers great contrast to other decoys and look natural in areas with coots.
That might be a touch too much white in the spread...LOL!!! Pretty cool to see though.
Haha yep.

Pelicans don’t make a good confidence decoys, eh?

Have seen videos on you tube of Pelicans grabbing ducks and swallowing them whole. Nasty birds in my opinion.
That's crazy!
How the heck do you ID ducks, picking out drakes especially, in such poor light?!
@@kwill1911 got to look at a combination of color, shape, and size. On the pintail, I could see all the white on it.
Pintail limit = 1
