Probably my favorite duck hunter on RUclips right here. Just a man chasing a limit. Hate the big channels that just blast music over 100’s of ducks gettin cut.
Wouah Ou! Spectacular scenery! Versailles Sons et Lumieres! Don't apologize for your shooting, didn't see any crippling! The limits are not the goal so you appreciate what nature has to offer to you! Thanks again for sharing your solo hunts on kayak, your dedication is exemplary, you make really be with you in the cattails, seeing the birds landing in the spread of decoys, the corrections needed to reach your quarry, you don't cheat! And you exchange all the informations about everything, very educational too... Bravo! I can't wait for the next one, awesome!
You wanna know what’s kinda funny. I feel like I’m happier with 2 birds than I am with 5. Sometimes with 5 I feel annoyed I didn’t limit but with 2 I’m thankful I even got one. That has been something I’ve noticed this season.
I've said it myself. This channel sits solid at my #1 waterfowl channel. Followed by Hoke, with Duck gun at 3rd. Matt just has awesome skills, and can put a better video in a 10 minute package than the music blasters can put in 30 minutes. Best content out there in RUclips waterfowl territory.
Thanks for letting us know you are human when it comes to shooting, I was starting to think I was the only one to miss. Goose limits fill the freezer in a hurry, great hunt.
I would say that beautiful sunrise and the way them first group of ducks dropped in. It would have been a good enough day for me but you turned out. Have a great day and quit beating yourself up or not that duck limit. It was a great hunt. Beautiful morning! Just got to enjoy God's creation. Imagine how many people don't get to see a beautiful sunrise like that over water because they sit in the house too much. Count your blessings for being able to see this sunrise
I absolute LOVE you videos , you do a fantastic job. I like the way you promote letting hens live , I like the way you make your videos , I like the no profanity, no stupid stuff it’s an A+ for me. As a guy who been waterfowling for 32 seasons now I appreciate what you do. ( I also guided full time for 4 years in Arkansas and Missouri ) I’m not saying I don’t shoot hens , don’t want people thinking I’m perfect but here is what I do have a problem with. Everyone thinks you need to jump birds off the water before you shoot them to give them a “ Sporting chance “ Let’s break it down. USUALLY if you shoot them on the water you have wayyyy less cripples , usually one shot will do it and you get less injured birds or suffering birds , you dispatch them quickly and in a hurry. That goose you hit , then missed and killed it on the last shot could have been dispatched and he woulda never heard the gun go off. Not only would this have been more humane and took you two less shots but they bird woulda never felt a seconds pain. What if you wouldn’t have killed that bird on the third shot ? Would you have found him ? Yes , the shot was lethal. Would the goose had suffered ? Absolutely ! I’m not complaining in any way shape of fashion , what I’m trying to get across to everyone reading this is…….. 1 : jumping a bird off the water and shooting it as soon as its wings stretch out is NOT anymore sporting than shooting it on the water. 2 : a bird feels less pain if killed instantly while water swatting , shell consumption goes down along with cripple rates. I’d really love to see you promoting water swatting , tell me what I’ve said doesn’t make sense. I bet the Indians didn’t flush birds before they shot them , I guarantee market hunters didn’t. At the end of the day you’re out there to harvest food as quickly and humanely as you can and water swatting is the way to accomplish that. Get you another when they get up , get two more , but your duck harvest rate will also go up with a quick kill on the water. Please show your viewers the best way to dispatch these animals. Gun safety is also number one and walking through a muddy marsh with gun in hand flushing a bird on uneven footing is also a hazard. Again , not complaining , just shedding light. Keep up the good work and start swatting that water
@@HighPrairieSportsmen it’s your preference because everyone has always said it was the only way to do it to be more “ Sportsman like “ A true sportsman wants a clean quick kill , think about it.
I have hunted for 50+ years in Arkansas and it’s better to get them in the air I think. It’s not that easy to cleanly kill ducks on the water, especially with steel shot. That’s my two cents worth.
@@ernesthercher5193 odds are better killing then on the water than in the air and if you don’t kill them on the water , they’ll be in the air shortly enough and you can try it again. You will also never find a pellet in the breast meat when shot on the water.
I’ve duck hunted growing up but now that I’m in college I’m struggling to find spots. For now I get my duck fix watching these videos. Awesome video, least to say it made me jealous to get back out there
Beautiful hunt area. Great photography and good looking ducks and geese. How does your decoy sled do when pulling those goose decoys? Is it the Shappell Jet sled that is 54 inches long?
Awesome job on the videos. I live in New England and our area only allows us to take 2 geese, it is incredible you get to harvest 5! That big flock of ducks is probably the most ducks I have seen here in the last 3 years. This year has been incredibly poor for ducks.
Great hunting dude, not always easy on your own. What's your camera setups? I've done little bits and bobs filming in the past but thinking about getting more setup this season coming in May
Matt, you should do a catch, clean cook video or two. And if you have mounts, maybe a tour of your taxidermy! I am an avid waterfowl hunter from MN, and would love to get ideas/see some taxidermy. Either way, nice hunt!
@@HighPrairieSportsmen I look forward to it. I love your content, and if you ever find yourself wanting to do a hunt in MN, just reach out. I have a few spots to get you on some northern birds, both early and late season!
Great hunt Matt, I think I shoot my 20 better than my 12 lots of the time, and was thinking the same for you and your 28 on this hunt, we know more pellets isn't always more ducks!!

That first goose deserved to get away lol that is why I will never jump a bird after it lands. Say what you want I will not be desperately trying to jump a bird for “the sport of it” not gonna happen in my blind. But to each their own Great hunt in the end for sure!

Same here 😂😂
Bout a month and half deep into waterfoul. Haven't limited, my pb is 5. Any day with flocks over head is a good day
Except when you miss. I hate missing
That was one of the better sunrises I've seen in a while, heck of a hunt to go along with it too!

Man, nice hunt. Can’t complain about 5 geese and 4 ducks. Sometimes the shooting gets off and it’s frustrating but it will get better 👍🦆
Thanks! Yep, just have to keep at it
Ran out of boxes of 28 shells? 😮. Them big honkers you got there. Nice work.
Haha nope. Wasn't sure how any geese would work and wanted to be prepared if they stayed farther out.
Great hunt Matt!
Thanks Titus!
Excellent video!! One of the best I've watched in a while. Love the close ups and the recaps. Keep them coming!!

Some days the duck hunt turns into a goose hunt, Nice double at the end Matt! Barry
