It puts a smile on my face seeing older diesels start up and be used after sitting for a long time unused. Good job. Keep doing good work.
Saw one with a Detroit 2 stroke diesel, that thing didn’t want to start but did eventually.
These old cabovers need to be save if possible. That first one looked pretty bad but this one looks in way better shape.

Diesel engines are amazing for that reason. Let it sit for 20 years and it starts right up, even with the old fuel in it. Amazing.
OLD diesel engines...
Yes new diesel not gonna happen lol.ive owned new and old much rather have the old mechanical stuff
Its the fuel. The new fuel has additives that go bad and contaminate the fuel. The old fuel takes 30 years or more to go bad

This video is tugging at my heart strings! Having retired from 38 years OTR in 2015 the International Cabover was my first truck to start my trucking career back in 1977! Great video and can't wait to see further videos on this truck. Hoping you do a complete restore on it in and out! Thanks for the memories!

Props to the locksmith. Anyone who knows about impressioning, knows it is truly a lost art.
Wish Id had his number when I recovered a barn find Mercedes W123 - had to strip the dash to get the ignition barrel out after everyone said impressioning wasnt possible

Check out Junkyard Digs and Thunderhead289. Great channels for this sort of thing.
Why not just watch it on RUclips? I can think of a dozen channels that do this sort of thing, JunkyardDigs, Vicegripgarage, Deboss Garage, Mustie1, and Thunderhead289 to name a few.

Just gotta say recently started watching Goonsquad and their new project is an old forklift. After watching that (I knew what their channel is about) I was thinking “I wonder if there is a channel for heavy equipment and diesel?” And boom found this channel. Instant subscribe. Love it.

Kevin Podborny 👍🏻👍🏻 what do you think about the jeep cladiator build ?
I used to use to watch Goonzsquad. Boys .. but I feel like what they do is not realistic to normal people because most people don't have unlimited money like they do.. and they don't just do a normal build like a normal person on a limited budget would do..they go overboard

I love these videos of cars/trucks being resurrected after decades of sitting. I watched one of a Volvo 240 that sat for like 15 years.

I always love seeing the old trucks come back to life.
It always amazes me why People just leave things sitting to rust away in places..you would think they would just sell them.
Azureecosse's comment plus also the fact that sometimes it's just hard to find a buyer. It's sad tho, having something being left behind like this.
My uncle has a 57 Plymouth Savoy it's been sitting since 1989 and any time I offer to buy it he says he is going to "restore it" or he can't because of all his memories in the car meanwhile it's rusting to nothing
maybe back in time no one wanna buy it ;)

One of my drivers went to Florida to grab a truck in a similar situation.. He got it started, decided it was road worthy, and headed North to Massachusetts.. He stopped in Richmond, Virginia to sleep. He woke up covered in fire ants. He spent the next month in the hospital
And that's how fire ants made it to Virginia !
It was their truck, that's why he got hurt
@@DARisse-ji1yw haha
The truck is actually not as old as it seems.
when delimbing a tree like this one, you always do an "undercut" before sawing through the limb from the top, that way you ensure that the falling branch/limb does not tear the bark all the way to the trunk.
Why did they delimb the tree? Absolutely not necessary. Instead of damaging an old tree the only thing they had to do is remove one or two columns of the fence so the truck can drive through.
@@AbcAbc-ox6pg depends on how hard the ground is, the truck could get stuck, and that is a pain to deal with

International is a special kind of cabover. Start with pulling the wind deflector off the roof and getting the hydraulic cab jack working right. The Cummins sounds good.
I can't believe after 18 years the fuel was still good
Diesel engine will burn dam near anything as long as it is flammable and not explosive (i.e. gasoline). That fuel is likely rotten as hell but it will still burn when put under the high compression of a big truck diesel engine.
Absolutely bro, they're trying to make us fool...
I agree this not 20 years.... This is 20 month

I love it when guys like you make a machine come back to life ♥
Film everything would love too see it from start too finish.. Am a trucker and i love too see the old truck's come back too life BECAUSE these new ones are POS
There is a trade off though. The older trucks are reliable and simple, I'm talking Non computer controlled. On the other hand newer trucks are more comfortable, better fuel mileage and usually but not always have more power. I have an 88 359 that pulls my lowboy, big Cam 400, and its starts up everyday even when its 10deg out. The tradeoff is it sucks down fuel, its loud and its rough as shit. But I keep it because its reliable.
gumballer133 idk what new trucks you are driving but these emissions systems on the newer trucks is killing the mileage. My old pete would get 8-10mpg while the new ones get 4
@@smitty3973racing I meant newer then a late 70's-early 80's truck, as we are watching a video of that. I've been trying to keep the dump trucks Pre 07. I have a few diesel service trucks that are 2017 and 2018, and they are a pain.

Greyson Vaughn that’s a diesel just needs compression and some fuel and they will fire up
After that long it should need to be primed
A little high speed chicken feed and it’ll fire right up
Cummins engines always will run they just need a lil fuel and air
So, I'm guessing that the pre-start checking of the oil and coolant just didn't make the video? It's amazing what a diesel engine can do after sitting.
