About The Daily Show:
Trevor Noah and The World's Fakest News Team tackle the biggest stories in news, politics and pop culture.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11/10c on Comedy Central. Приколы
I like that Trevor always talks about his home country unapologetically, I don't think a month passes by without Trevor talking about his roots. He's representing our South Africa very well. We are proud of him
I love that about him too. I find it immensely painful that most black Americans can't know their exact group of ancestors. Even knowing it's probably West and Central Africa, it is not enough. We have very mixed blood. We can't know our real family names. It feels like a hole inside. It feels like nowhere is home. :-(
It's nice that he can be proud of it, it seems like sometimes people who come from poorer backgrounds are ashamed.
@@breath888 America is your home then. Just because it's dysfunctional doesn't mean it can't be a home.
When he replaced Jon Stewart I didn't know who he was, and I was skeptical of anyone replacing my beloved Stewart. But his perspective of society and politics as a South African is unique in American late night television, and quite refreshing. I'm addicted now!
Banele Gumede, it shows that he gets homesick at times and he definitely misses home once in a while too
@@chicawhappa come on! That's a palpable lie.
South Africans, who else immediately knew where this was going and starting singing "kiba, ka di botsotso, chelete ifedile" JUST from seeing the title of this clip? hahahaha
I came here to post a comment like this...😂😂😂
Me too!
260Dee1 In Namibia a "botsotso" is a thief lol
Its the first thing I thought when I saw the caption😂😂😂
Meeeee!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 from the jump
Michael Jackson:
Singer
Dancer
US interpreter for Tswana
Gavan Schultz triple threat 😂
Love it
Yeah and those who accuse him of it had to pay M. Jackson family the money for lying
Also legend
Leopold Stfu Michael was innocent do some research it’s 2018 learn the truth you sound white
When he starts speaking Setswana in the USA 😂✌❤
Or when he's speaking Xhosa on the BBC.
I'm never going to listen to this song in the same way again. Tswana all the way! :)
Before you do let me translate that for you "ke bao ka dipotsotso" - Here they are in their tight pants, "chelete e fedile" - the money is all gone. MORE or Less! LOL!
🤣lol what's the name of the song?
It's actually Sotho. Chelete is SeSotho which means money in English. It's called madi in SeTswana.
I also sang it like that
My parents in Cuba used to make their own Spanish edition of the song as well. It seem that every country had their own adaption of Michael Jackson.
Interesante
You shod translate it into English it would be the 3rd version on this comments section lol
What was their version?
Omg this is sooo true am dying 😂 as kids we used to have our own version of tunisian dialect of ‘they don’t really care about us’ 😂 he literally was famous in every single corner of this planet.
RIP MJ, the greatest of all time.
I am from the UK and it never occurred to me that this was going on with MJ songs.lol
I think there were South Africans in the audience because I heard a sing along instantly with excitement.
Funny thing about South Africa, we have thousands of songs lost in translation even if we're told the correct lyrics we stick to the lost in translation version. #Consistency
Lovely
That's so funny!
I was so hurt when I finally found out there was no "ke bao ka dipotsotso" in that song, I finally picked up the correct lyrics when I was in varsity.
Do you know the translation to English of the part he was singing? I’d love to know!
@@ChanteMcCormick no we don't loooool up to dis day most of us done grown but never bothered looool
This guy makes me proudly South African🇿🇦
Awesome_Gift How are the Farmers?
@@elgringoaleman4402 refusing to give back the land they stole
The Africans living there today are mostly descendants from the Bantu tribe a tribe that has conquered most of the whole content and wiped out many tribes ,Wiped out the natives of what is now South Africa and then the Dutch came over with missionaries and claimed EMPTY LAND within those borders for the most part
The Dutch that did “steal land” were only a small amount but in perspective they “stole” land that the Bantu already stole and killed for . And because of SA’s Communist/Socialist government they want to take land back that was never theirs in the first place. The only reasons that South Africa was a civilized country with a stable economy was for the white South Africans. And if the government goes on the same track as their neighbor zimbabwe they will quickly become the same way, Zimbabwe kicked out their white farmers as well, but those farmers were the most productive and as soon as those farmers fled ,so did the investors and the economy plummeted ,now today Zimbabwe government is actually asking for the farmers to come back. Study your history and you won’t fall to the lies of “Stolen land”
El Gringo Aleman
Why are you asking me that question? Am I accountable for farmers now?
Please take that rhetoric to Afriforum sites, I'm pretty sure there are thousands of people there who will happily engage you.
@@piziepaw3220 👏🏿👏🏿yess come on reply
I still sing it like that 😂😂😂
Trevor you make us proud!
We sang that song like that in Botswana as well
in Swahili we would sing and still sing it as "cheza, cheza kwa stepu, usimkanyage mwenzio..." translation dance, dance properly and dont step on uer partner
Lol, that's a great one. I love it.
I mean, I'm not exactly into dancing, but "do it properly, and don't step on toes" seems like solid advice to me... "D
Yea "....Usikanyange mwenzio" Nailed it , man!!!
That's a good one!
Love this one!
This is 100% true! Ke bao ka di botsotso, chelate e fedile! Sing Trevor! Proud South African Motswana woman over here! :D
For all non Tswana people:
"there they are with BMWs, the money is finished" - (325i 1990)
Another translated version (depending on the area and generation):
"there they are with (hats, tight-pants), Christmas is over"
Seems like a lot of meaning was lost in translation...😅
😂😂😂 tswana sounds lit af
Kolopa pa, kolopa, lol. Yeah we used to sing it like that. Plus Trevor wa tifostana, lol
Thank you :)
the Daily Show should make a cover with someone singing in Tswana for those parts, that would be amazing
Christmas is "the money"??
Makes sense, I guess
😂😂😂😂
Oh man he can sing 😍
Yes he can! He has at least one other clip wehre he sings in the clicking South African language!
In former Yugoslavia, Sting's "Message in a bottle" was jokingly sang as "Mesečina bato". It's pronounced almost exactly like "message in a bottle" and it means "moonlight, bro!". :D
That's beautiful
@@NellieKAdaba I guess it sounds a bit poetic when you translate it to English. To us it was just funny. :)
Bro
In Panama they used to sing "Necesito un bate", panamanian slang for "I need to smoke a joint".
Isaac Larrier lol, maravilloso.
It’s funny when I read the title I already knew what song he was going to talk about😂😂
Cool, you're a genius.
Are you a mind reader or something?
In Akan, ( a local language in Ghana), we say "kyibom 3mo ne taalia, m3nkofa benkuta" which translates as " fried egg, rice and spaghetti, I'm going to get the laddle"
All of these translations are hilarious, but I think yours takes the cake. LMAO
Jalof rice hahahaha
🤣🤣🤣 this is so funny
Honey Badger Strength & Conditioning yes. Food is best. Nom nom nom.
meetmehalfway Ok So y’all have numbers included in your language?
Then the crowd starts cheering Tswana, you'd swear they hear what Trevor is saying in Setswana.
Bruh😂
They feel it like we felt MJ 😂😂😂
Lol
I thought there are SA in the studio😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@africanchild5719 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So proud to be a Motswana from Botswana right now 😍
We used to sing the first line of "Backstreet's back" as "Yelhodno Baarayya..." which in Kannada (south Indian language) would translate to "Where did he go? Come on out man" :D
Cool
LOL never thought of it like that! super song ri! :-)
When I became fluent in English I was so disappointed by many songs I loved 😂
Aicha Daillo Me too, same or similar experience, being a French singer from Brussels, Belgium. 😆 lol
I always wanted to say something like this because you sort get disappointed when you hear the true meaning. A certain part of you prefers your childhood understanding
almost like English ruins it...lol.
Now I prefer the tswana version 😂😂 😂..👏🏽🙌
Facts
😂😂😂😂 the funniest part is when you can understand tswana😂😂😂
Michael Jackson is the greatest artist of all time.
That language is lit! 🔥 🔥😂😂
Jay Winslett jackie Chan went to South Africa to make the movie called Who am I, he speaks the language.
No. It's not that Jackie Chan speaks Tswana. Jackie Chan has his own language that can be understood universally, but comes across as a thick Chinese accent to the listener.
Fernando Santiago have you watched the movie?
It's an old internet joke based on Jackie Chan's accent dude. Like those Chuck Norris memes.
Fernando Santiago lmao dont know what are you talking about. Just watch the movie, its on RUclips, its called Who am I. Skip to 20:20 thats the part where speaks Tswana and Zulu.
My Nigerian friends heard "Oya fo soke, don't stop till you ja si le"
your "Yoruba" Nigerian friends.
there are hundreds of languages in that country.
Chill my guy, I'm Nigerian, and Yoruba. I have non Yoruba friends who sang it. So chill, its RUclips
Sanmi Oyenuga OMG I remember singing this 😂😂😂
Haha
Omo, mo ro pe emi ni kan ni mo ro kini yen sha. Lol... . . . . .
This how you write it in words: "KE BAO KADI POTSOTSO , TJHELETE E FEDILE"
Translation : HERE THEY COME WITH TIGHT PANTS, AND THEY'RE OUT OF MONEY
Michael Jackson GOAT
Trevor just wanted a reason to share his culture keep it up keep sharing africa with the world 🌍 🇭🇹
I used to think it was "mama se mama sa mama appelsap" which in Dutch means "mum applejuice"
lol, beautiful.
Mommy's Mommy's Mommy's apple juice. 😂🍏
In this song "Keep up, with the force don't stop" sounds like "Pipo, met een borstel" in Dutch ^^ Means "clown with a brush" kind of
WE DONT CARE.....
Oh, you don't, eh? 😂
Trevor is always so good when he's not following what the writers write.
tenacious645 Exactly
Isn't he one of the writers?
In (European) Portuguese, the way that Michael sings "keep on with the force don't stop" sounds REALLY REALLY close to "que bom que me foste ao cu", which roughly translates to "how nice that you butt fucked me" xD
How nice.
wHOA that escalated quickly
Lmao
That just makes the song better😂
At work hollering😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Noooooooo, thts not good
I wish Instagram existed when Michael Jackson was at his prime. Anyway, long live the king.
In my neighborhood it was 'Ke bao! Ka dipotsotso. Krisimas e fedile!' But we knew that's not how the song went. So we made something up in Setswana/Sesotho.
A great laugh and I can relate. In DR Congo for that same song and line we sang it in Lingala and were so conceived that’s what he was saying!
Lol
Oyebi penza🤣
True🙌🏿
Remember how congolese sange beat it? Bidee bide.lol
im south african...i knew instantly that he was gone do" ke bao, ka dipotsotso chelete e fedile" 😂😂🤣
Someone's getting fire for not putting "Between the Scenes" in the title.
Things I thought only I noticed.
it's been added now. :)
Miss MJ so much! He is loved by the whole world
This killed me especially being half Tswana
Ndoda can you please stop exposing us please 🤣
Wait, "Ndoda"? Is that his Xhosa clan name (like Nelson Mandela's was "Madiba")?
@@theobuniel9643 Nah it means "man"
Ai Sbali ...Mtrevors cummon, exposure yonke le mfana
Yey wena 😂😂
Lol he does hey. Thats our childhood memory.
This segment needs to be like 10 minutes longer
South Africa best export ever. You doing very well , keep it up Trevor
Michael Jackson is a GOAT.
sound great in Tswana 😁
I hope Trevor Noah lives a great life and is happy forever. I think he's a really awesome person and I love his show.
Something like that can happen anywhere I guess. When my mother was a new 1st grade teacher in Eagle Pass Tx in 1953, her whole class sang "papas y chorizos" for "pop goes the weasel." I mean, when a song engages you and you don't know the language you're not gonna let that slow you down, right?
When Trevor sings in his language. It just makes him a million times sexier.....
Amen
It’s not his language though. It’s just one of the ones he knows
Here is him singing the click song ❤ ruclips.net/video/baEiWB2aM9Y/видео.html
Tamara Aguilar I can sing in my language too 😅😂
Sometimes i feel like all Africans think the same... we also did that as kid, cuz we couldn't get the words MJ were singing so, we just go on translating in our native tongues and in french... while keeping that vibe! Ah childhood is lite!
Talking about a song which was created 40 years ago... and still everyone knows the song and everyone has their own versions😄😄 loved it!! ❤️Michael Jackson❤️
OMG....so Michael Jackson wasn't singing in Tswana :(...childhood ruined ☹
charmaine rotfl
lol
Tell me about it
Girl, I was soooo ooooold when I realized he was singing, keep on, don't stop, don't stop, don't stop till you get enough. For years I was also singing the Tswana version. Childhood ruined for real
😁😁
😂😂😂😂😂oh man it's so hard not to love Trevor
This is where I shine. I am a major fan of MJ so I knew what he was saying in his songs. This is my forte
That is simply the most adorable clip I've seen ever. Aaaaw, I love this
Feel so proud 😂. I am a Tswana boy from 🇿🇦🇧🇼
The Tswana version of Don’t stop til you get enough sounds awesome 😂
Happens till this day😂😂😂
😂 😂😂 😂 Oh my word this is so True, we still sing it like that.
I love these segments. Between the scenes is a great showcase for Trevor Noah's charming personality and, among other things, great stories about his youth in South Africa.
If Micheal Jackson was still alive, he would sing it this way after hearing Trevor Noah say this~!
Somebody please translate Tswana parts
Pretty please
💀
There they are, in tight pants. The money is finished.😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
HERE THEY COME
THE MONEY IS FINISHED
That's hilarious but it's also no sillier than most pop songs so it's all good.
The way I still sing the song with the Tswana lyrics...
Trevor siyakuthanda!! Rea go rata!! U the best thing that happened to SA✌️
We in ghana...actually thought he was singing in Twi!!! Loll🇬🇭
Me singing along to exactly what he’s saying 😂😂😂
I just cracked why these Between The Scenes are amazing. He's a brilliant comedian and these are his tiny sets where he gets to talk about what he wants.
Exactly, better than the actual news.
Michael Jackson stories make my day everytime 😂😂😍😘
I grew up singing in Xhosa😂😂. Trevor you're a legend
Yonela Palesa Bele-Moopelwa lol
😂😂 a pure Motswana guy approves!😂🖒
I totally relate as a Tswana person from Botswana. 🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼
In Sudan, we would sing it, "Kida, kida fantastic. Tamshi wa taji beh rida"
Translation: This, this is fantastic. You come and go wearing shorts".
Trevor you are the CUTEST!!!😍😍😍
Got me listening to this song now. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough!
HE'S NOT LYING THERE🤣
As always, I love Michael Jackson. ❤
what a talent!
Trevor has just made my day
This is the best part of the show!
I LOVE this!
Oh Trevor, you make me laugh. 👏👏👏👏😂😂😂😂😂❤️
Awww Sssstrevisto, ssstrevizano 😂🤣😂
😂😂😂😂we love you Travor
I'm here for the person in the crowd who started singing along. Absolutely beautiful!
google closed captions for when Trevor's singing their Tswana version:
00:45 *then we'd be like give a candy bar*
00:48 *a fair dinner give up caliber taco shell*
00:52 *left a penny left that's what we do and*
Now, someone who speaks Tswana please come and translate the transcript. And then someone say it in Engliah and catch captions. And ..
THIS GAME COULD GO ON FOREVER.
Ooh how i miss the old days😁😊
looks like I've been singing along to the Tswana version this whole time 😅
Dursun Sahin lol
I feel exposed lol. Thanks a lot Trevor😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great one.
This made me laugh so hard! I love it!
OMG!!!! we did the same thing in Mexico but in spanish. And every other popular American Singer
