    Had a chance to talk to Sidney a few years ago and he felt the 1980 team that lost to the Sonics was their best shot at winning it all. I still remember my dad yelling at the tv when Dave Meyers made a half-assed attempt to lay the ball in at the end of the game instead of going for the dunk. I was 10 at the time so it freaked me out a bit but now I can appreciate the passion my dad had for Bucks basketball.

      The Karol K youtube channel has full Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 of that Bucks-Sonics series -- and maybe Gms 3 and 4 too. But not Game 5, where Junior was injured (always seemed to get hurt at the worst times) and Richard Washington went off for 21 to win in Seattle. But we have Dave Meyers final NBA games, Sid's rookie playoffs, right here at our fingertips. A lot of the other games have been removed for whatever reason -- four out of 5 of the 1983 series against Philly used to be up, full games. Not any more.

      Geez, Sir Sid even lead the team in rebounds? (1:19) They won the division by 13 games!

    All those Bucks games were great back then. Great NBA basketball. I think it was the Golden Era of Playoff Basketball. Even though most times it was 3-4 teams that ALWAYS went to the finals, the first round series were sometimes better matchups then the Finals. Bucks could never get over the hump. They played so hard in the regular season they always had that one injury to hamstring them. To me that was the most frustrating part. Other teams were always healthy and had all hands on deck...

    I think they were the best team that never won it all. This year with Boston, Milwaukee, and Philly all contending for the first time in a long time, it reminded me of these classic days of the NBA. This team has been all but forgotten, but they were amazing, just as good as Boston and philly to me! Brian winterss was one of my favorite players, as a Detroit native, of course I loved Lanier, and moncrief was amazing, moncrief, v. Andrew toney, and mo cheeks! Those were the days!

    @2cold1. Bob Lanier says the retirement of Dave Myers in 1980 cost them the championship of later particularly in 1981 and 1982.

      @Creagh Bell nuggets had one 55 win season in the entire decade! The entire west was wackjuice in the 80s besides the Lakers only 2 teams won 55 games in a season! 85 nuggets an 89 suns!

    I attended many Bucks games when I was a kid. Most of the time I was sitting directly behind the Bucks bench. I can remember putting my feet on the floor at the Milwaukee arena. This was in the late 60’s early 70’s. Classic Milwaukee Bucks. Does anyone remember the Bucks entrance song that was played when the Bucks warmed up?

    That team that lost game 7 to the Sonics was another great team and probably one of my favorites but that 82' and 63' team were full of veterans. Those Bucks against the Sonics were young but Green and Growing...The Bucks could have won 2-3 titles back then but always came up against a key injury or a team that just had a little more. When they got Lanier it should have been all over..

      @DIMP11 6 лет назад +1

      Indeed 3 teams in particular had a little more between 80 and 87, Boston, Los Angeles ( Lakers) and Philadelphia so Milwaukee had bad luck to be great at same time as those. 3 key names: Earvin, Larry and Julius. But you can add Moses, Kevin, Cedric, Kareem, Andrew (Toney) and Dennis (Johnson) the latter of whom beat the Bucks in 1980 with Seattle and again in 84, 86 and 87 with Boston

    Before that it was Quinn Buckner's as well. If Quinn and Bridgeman had not got hurt the Bucks could have won the NBA title that year. Buckner and Junior were huge losses.

    Dave Meyers and his frogg legged jumper was one of my favorite players. He and Marvelous Marques Johnson were one of the best forward tandems in the league but David's back started bothering him and then he gave up after 3 years or so and become a Jehovah's Witness...and retired. Another BIG BLOW to the Bucks dynasty. The Lucious Allen Jon McGlocklin Curtis Perry injury in 1974 and Buckner and Bridgeman in 82 were devasting.

    1982-83 season
    Was the biggest chance for THE BUCKS to win one to be honest.. they are playing at a high level. Sweeping the BOSTON CELTICS in the playoffs. And giving THE SIXERS a ECF series. Eventhough the sixers won in 5.. if the BUCKS went to the finals.im sure MILWAUKEE will Beat THE LAKERS in the finals.. as THE LAKERS are without NORM NIXON and JAMES WORTHY

      Adam Ryan Don't have anything on VHS anymore. It's all on DVD. Unfortunately I just don't have much interest in trading these days unless it was for rare Bucks footage from the 70's and early 80's. I mean I was getting stuff from the CBS vaults so I have a lot 😃

      Interesting. I may have some stuff you'd like. Do you know if Jordan's first playoff game - CHI @ MIL - exists in the trading hobby? Games 2, 3 and 4 do. Not game 1.
