    Great real world insight! I just wish you included a camera angle from the driver seat though

      yeah this is the way, driving through straights, hills and curves on an inclement weather.

    I would love a 590nm laser diode lamp with a clean cut of line.
    That way you get the best fog penetration and least glare of all systems

      @4WDisLife  12 дней назад

      Oof. That’d be nice. But just the two problems come to mind are: lifetime of laser is probably a lot less than led. And it’s probably not going to be road legal in most states haha.

      @ Laser headlights are starting to be implemented by car manufacturers. So that should be ok.
      I don’t now about the runtime issues 🤷🏼
      But fog needs a monochrome light source to be penetrated.
      Other than that: there is a company that sells low latency Flir style thermo cameras for cars. That should be one of your next tests. Please hit me up if you are interested. I would like to talk about a few real world test setups. Kind regards

      I have 2 white phosphor laser units on one of my trucks replacing the fog lights and they do cut through rain and fog better than anything else I've tried, just 2 problems. They are too blue and they get more blue the further the distance due to light scatter, and they have absolutely no spill light, which sucks for seeing anything else but a spot dead ahead, but that's also why they cut though with little bounce back. What I want is a small light bar using laser units that each head is individually aimable, so I can have more horizontal spread, 6 laser units outta do it and only be like 12" wide and 1" tall.

    I'd say the stock low beam works great

      yea they have great cutoff on the top, it would be even better if its amber.

    Would the Harbor Freight light be any different with the amber lenses?

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  13 дней назад

      Great question, personally, I think the amber cover cuts too much output, and being good at what harbor freight light does, throwing insane amount of light 180 degrees in front of the vehicle, imo it just wasn’t mean to be used in a dense fog weather. However, in a good day, it’s one of my top three choices.

    Trying to use LED's as fog lights is like trying to mix oil and water. The short wave length really causes a lot of glare, regardless of beam pattern. This is where old fashion halogen fog lights work best. The very best fog lamps I've found are the old (no longer made) Hella 550FF lights. They are the old rectangle design, not the new style they now have. The key is the free form reflector that really controls light pattern from scatter. Fog can be a real PIA, sometimes it's so bad you're literally just using the light to look for the shoulder and center paint stripe so you stay on the road.

      Great points. I do feel like maybe halogen fogs would be a better choice given their color and wavelength. However it’s so hard to find halogen fogs nowadays.

    Great idea for the video, but really the only view we care of is from the cabin…

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  11 дней назад

      I’d argue when there is really no difference in the cabin view due to low visibility, the exterior view helps in terms of showing the different light patterns and glare in fog and to the coming traffic. But you are right I should have included a first person view.

    @4WDislife u should of get ur hands on Morimoto - 2banger NCS Amber or 4banger NCS Amber.
    NCS is the entry level of the brightness. HXB is the premium brighter style led pod lights.
    They have spot,flood,combo, and wide.
    Wide would be great option

      @@4WDisLife I will tell u. Coming from headlight revolution. Morimoto - Big banger is the brightest out of all the pod lights so far.
      I’m lookin forward to see more with a big banger.
      But I also would love to see Morimoto 1,2,4 banger in wide beam in action. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
      Lookin forward for the enter content.

      @@toyotabronythe morimoto lights seem to be built very well. Can’t say the same with HR’s RUclips channel, it’s just a lot of trashing any brands they are not affiliated with. I am also in talk with nachos to test their grande series and quattro fogs.

    • @toyotabrony
      @toyotabrony 13 дней назад

      @@4WDisLife nachos is very underrated. I had a feeling their amber color is gonna be very very deep vibrant color.
      Could I also request for what off-road lights u should look up?
      If so, I would love to see Auxito - 7” round combo/driving led pod lights. Spot and flood, with drl amber. Car light review tested the offroad lights.
      After an hour of running. They are cooled up to 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is very impressive.
      Those are my next request after Morimoto, and after nacho off-road lights.
      Honestly I think I’m more excited to see of Auxito.
      They are promising. Beam pattern is surprisingly focus.

      @4WDisLife  13 дней назад +1

      @ I will look into Auxito, see if they want to work something out. Oh I forgot to mention Mishimoto’s Borne Offroad lineup is coming out with their own led lights, so I am talking with them as well to get their lights started next year.
