Love that one of the best Deaf jokes entered into this. Yes! Take out the hearing aids for the win!!!!!
My best friend when I was a kid was Deaf. I learned alot about life from her. I took ASL in college. My teachers were some of the best ppl on earth. One became my elder son's babysitter. They used to laugh at me when we were in the cafeteria or eating out because my comprehension SUCKS. They taught me the sign for "sitting and nodding." :)

As someone who is hearing impaired i want to say this is just very very nice.
The respect you show her is fantastic, but also your willingness to not make fun of her, but make fun of the scenario which happens to involve her deafness is grade A respectful comedy.

Learning to adjust to a small circus of disabilities was a challenge, but still having a wicked quick sense turned out to be an equal gift and curse because while it lightened the situation for me, it made many people "uncomfortable". Even though I tried to rein it in, I lost a few peeps on that journey. Your comedy, legit, gave me a safe place to sealbark laugh in surprise, find joy, and share in the absurdist glee at the overall weirdness of the world and life.

Hearing aide removal if husband is annoying reminds me of my college boyfriend and I. He was in a wheelchair and I used a walker. I'd had a bad day and he, clearly raised in a functional household, wanted to be sweet and talk about it with me. I, not even kinda raised by anyone at all and being 75% sure my mom did not know how babies were made even though she was 36 when I was born, am a retreat, cry, eat, and comeback kinda person. So I explain this and he's still being the amazing functional guy he was and then I snap. I started crying about needing 10min of alone time and swore if he didn't back off, especially since his chair went faster than I could walk, I would sit in the middle of a stairwell until I felt better. He started laughing and "stairs" became our code for "I can't take this. Do you want to escape too?" A little like the look you give your partner when you've decided you have exactly 5min left in your soul before you need to get away from everyone because, people. BTW Someone tell Patti LuPone this is how you handle a cellphone hearing device in a theater please.

Well obviously Drew can, and I am here for it. This is a great lesson you can take, if you are an aspiring comedian, how to do comedy around disability. The joke is never the disability, because things that people can not change about themselves are not funny. The funny thing is how people act towards another. Disability changes the dynamic between people and there can be found a lot of comedy in this situations that would not be there without disability. An other thing what is great in this bit is how Drew took hints from Bana what topics are ok to joke about.
Comedy wins a lot with diversity and inclusion, and we should try to learn from those who do it well.

My mom was deaf and much like the audience member has a real love of humor, in all it’s forms. It was cathartic for her and made me into who I am today.
She also had a full drum kit. Hearing loss didn’t stop her. She could count into any song, with confidence. She could feel the rhythm, didn’t need to hear it.
Mom was always the one you wanted to be sat next to at any dinner table. Anywhere we went as a family a mini race to place yourself ensued. Why?
Back in the late 1950, early 1960, the prevailing medical theory at that time was she needed to learn how to look “normal”. So lip-reading was taught, rather than ASL. Fast forward a few decades and mid meal she’d suddenly whisper, “On your 7, two from the back. That is NOT his wife.”
Thanks for seeing & embracing a solid work around. And on behalf of my mom, lost a bit too early, may I just say, she would’ve loved this impromptu bit.

i feel like every comedian either does or should have a specialty when it comes to their stand up style, like Steve hoffseter (i know i fucked the spelling super bad on that one) is dealing and shutting down hecklers in a non hustle and VERY funny matter that never fails to make him considered the best heckler burner around today, yours is DEFFINATLY crowd work/interactions. i fell in love with you (not in a gay wolf kinda way lol) during America's got talent, and i have a stutter problem as well so you and your story was very endearing to me and i connected with you that way and then never not laughed at anything you posted but one thing i came to learn about you is your clear love for fans and the people who come out to see you and the fact that you could and probably should at some point just fuck the bits and just do a whole show JUST crowd work, just nothing but the fun back and forths you always have with your audience. like i really could watch a whole special of you just doing crowd work, you are truly the best at it and as a life long comedy fan, you have become on the list along side the likes of dice, bill burr, robin Williams, George Carlen and so on of iconic and obviously legendary comedians. i hold you up with them. love ya man and hope you come to long island/new york soon.

Hey, I just came across this video and I just want to say you are an amazing and empathetic person. My son is losing his hearing (13 years old) and we are navigating the world of hearing aids and phones and text-to-speech and to see something like this just really hit me in the feels. I guess a lot of adults sometimes walk on eggshells a bit when they learn about his condition (kids just roll with it), which is understandable because it sucks and he's such a nice kid, but really he just wants to be included as much as the next person in the fun. And it's hard to explain but the way you include her in your comedy without making fun of her, but aren't afraid to ask, talk, learn about her condition while having a great time is just really special. Thank you!

Drew and Bana, this absolutely delighted the hell out of me. I'm not deaf or hard of hearing specifically, but I have a bit of a lifelong medical circus act going on and i figure if I can't escape it, I might as well get some great laughs out of some of the absurd situations it puts me in. Laughter is medicine after all, nothing feels more healing to me than making jokes and being around people who make jokes about my bizarre medical situation without the punchline being disrespectful or only about the downsides. Theres so much of my life that provides good content for humor, and I'm disabled 24/7 so of course there's things to be said that aren't depressing. Lots of people just don't seem to recognize that. It's always a delight when someone gets it.

Absolutely! The huge difference between laughing "with" and laughing "at."
Or just plain stupidity. Yesterday, at my physical therapist's office, I said, "I wish I had my minion along so I could use my wheelchair." She said, "You are too young to need a wheelchair."
I thought she was joking; but she was not! I told her I would be sure to go home and tell my Goddaughter, 22 years old, who has Spina Bifida that she is "too young" for a wheelchair!
As for jokes, "Deaf Jokes" are so much fun! The real Deaf Jokes by Deaf ppl. :) Blessings!
