Or catch your own outboard propellors, while setting them, when wind drifts you over the line. I don't use a floating line - just leaded crab line. I work a purse seine float into the trap bridle and rig the bridle with lines to each corner.
100% spot on advice. The other thing I've done is zip tied the trap shut with colored zip ties (everyone has black). That way I can tell if someone was nice enough to check them for me.
