Things I have learned in a week. Static IP addressing on the AP's makes my network happier. Especially since I have been dealing with a cable internet issue of losing connectivity. Lastly, if you don't need to mesh, turn off connectivity monitor and wireless uplink. The seemed to improve the network handling sporadic outages. Perhaps it was just the static IP addressing so I may re-enable it at a later date. The biggest reason I liked having this enabled was if the hardwired connection from my house to an outbuilding went down, the AC-M in that outbuilding would link back to the house, to the nearest neighbor AP and keep the network humming right along. That's what I've found anyway.
I'm having trouble connecting this. I am attempting to connect the Unifi AC mesh to my pre existing router and wifi service. Is this even possible without purchasing any other products? All I am trying to do is extend my current wifi service into a small cottage that's only about 50 feet from the router that's in my house. Should I be looking at a completely different product for what I'm trying to do? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@@muaythaigamerboy Did you have an existing Unifi network? It does need a controller to activate and manage the access point. You can run a dedicated one, ie, purchase one, or you can run it on Mac or Windows.
Just wanted to mention to those that don't know, the included POE Injector is not necessary if you have a POE switch. UniFi actually makes some nice POE switches that integrates well with the devices and controller software.
Hi. I'm not an expert but I do understand most of it. Thanks for that:-). I am looking into a extend my configuration of a three Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC-PRO's with a few Unifi UAP-AC-M's, in some places where it is impossible to have wired connection. Question: I see numerous posts on the channel choices of the AC-M's. Some say you have to leave auto on, some say 1 and 40, some say 1 and 36. That's beyond my understanding, I'm afraid. How do I define the channels? Thanks!
thanks for this video. Can these be downlink devices as well? IE: AP -----wireless ---> AC M ------> ethernet to switch --- PCs off switch? Or can must it terminate as wifi and I'll need a bridge?
Help! I'm trying to mesh one of these radios to try and get wifi to reach from our cabin out into our shop. I've followed your video to config this, and when I get to the point where I'm on the Controller software, and I'm going for the Wireless Uplink section from the Config menu on the Device screen - I don't have that as a drop down menu. I have General, Radios, WLAN, Network, and Manage Device. How do I find that menu? THANK YOU! I'm pretty lost on this - your video has been my only hope, haha!
I'm not clear what you accomplished with this. It lacks a clear mission statement of what we're doing, and not doing. Is this 802.11s? Is it running in supplicant mode? No idea.
Why do you need to click the mesh option? i used ubiquiti for 5 years now, and i never used mesh on multiple access points, i always thought the hardout between them makes like its a mesh. But really interested on what benefits it has clicking the option.
Meshing creates a wireless link between the units, so, for instance, I have one in my house hard wired to my switch and one in the barn (meshed). I did this so that I wouldn't have to run a hard wire out to my barn.
@@thomaswohllaib6458 Thanks for taking the time into replying. I see, so the mesh is for them to get the transfer from another AP. I personally hardwire from my switch to each Ubiquiti AP.
If you have the hard wire then that is the most optimum way. It is nice to have the option to do a wireless backhaul to a device though. You can also manually choose which AP the connects to as well. Another nice feature.
Hello, please how did you get to the Unifi Page if 7:27 minutes of the Video.... I only have my Unifi Mesh devices but will like to Reset and setup myself as the person who setup for me took the Manual away.

I have a brand new UAP-AC-M-6220 wireless access point which I installed today. After trying it I need to relocate it but once mounted in its wall bracket, I cannot take it out. It seems to be latched. Would you Dave or somebody else explain how to release the unit from the wall bracket (the one with the blue bubble spirit level)? Thank you very much.
If you have several AP’S, one radio will link to the closest one. But as you seen in the video, it listed 2 other radios in the range of the radio you are working with. But as you might suspect, depending on the amount of radios, this can create a bottle neck. This depends also in your topology for your network.
@@BrandonMillsMPCS Appreciate it. It took me ages to get traffic through the mesh. Nice video, thanx. You can do the same Mesh with many of the circular UNIFI AP's also. I use a Pro in my garage, with a wireless link.
So for meshing you need one master AP ?
Many thanks. Can you tell me...how many of these little ACM's can you safely mesh to one AC Pro Long range ceiling mount?

I managed to get wireless connectivity for a couple of hours but now my mesh pro is in isolated mode. What can be the issue?
is this like repeater? to aimperfly the weak WiFi signal area ?
Did you configure AP's with multiple channels? You want your AP's on different channels and avoid overlapping.
Overlapping is good. I think you meant interference.

It cannot. Amplifi line of products does not include outdoor-capable access points.
It will work as it's own AP but it won't hand off from the Alien to the AP. You have to have a separate SSID.
Can this mesh with a UniFi AP Outdoor+ ? (2.4Ghz)
Thanks! The video helped me out!

No, you need it ubiquity ap for it to work.
I want to install it in my garden, but is the PoE adapter also 100% waterproof?
PoE is not waterproof.
Hi,
Can you also tell how much distance this device can cover ? is it sufficient to cover the 200 Yards (radius) distance ?
Whoa. I don't know if it will cover that. You are also at the mercy of your replying device power.
So this can be an access point or a repeater
Great vid btw
can this run stand a lone with uverse provided router/modem setup
How many users can the device carry?
Good tutorial. Thanks!
Does wirelessly meshing the points rather than having each hard wired have any impact on network speeds?
Yes it will divide the speed roughly by half per mesh ap
Can you use this with any router ?
Hello Sir,
Please could we do a Mesh with Unifi and anyother Wifi?? If yes then please how can i get it done?
Thank you
No, only unifi units
can you mesh using the app
When I disconnect to the router, it is not meshing with my other AP? How to fix? Sorry, first timer here.
where do u locate antenna
If you have a Apple laptop or Apple product Don't get the units that aren't 3x3 because you won't have good speeds or coverage 3x3 its much better
does this work with any router ?
No, it needs to another Ubiquiti AP.
I'm using a Synology router. You don't have to use a Ubiquiti box in order to mesh their APs
