No dumb puns or over the top taunting. Instead she only interacts in a way that makes canonical sense and alot of the time she just preaches Nagakeborus "prayer"

The best part about Illaoi's voice lines is she literally teaches you how to play against her.
i like her quotes but there are plenty of other champions with better canonical quotes. Examples off the top of my head : Swain ,Yorick , Jhin , Sylas , Kindred etc...

@@littleblueclovers anything about motion, movement, etc. You can literally negate her strengths by moving outside her sphere of influence as she can't effectively move her tentacles, especially if they're from her ult. If you just leave the area her ult places tentacles in, it completely negates the power she gains from using it
Illaoi is the kind of character that makes you want to play her just cause she looks so cool.
When she came out my first thought was... she might be amazing support! And gosh until E nerf you just had to cast it onto enemy and let them die under own turret

when you're full build you can chase everything, slow them and and kill them while being full hp afterwards. but its diffenitly different from illaois usual playstyle and is more like a perma freezing perma on ghost darius that dunks you 24/7 and deals more true dmg than a velkoz

I wasn't even drawn to illoai for her diversity or body type, but I ended up playing her quite a lot... I think it's just a combination of everything. It's just refreshing to see something different and satisfying to see someone else appreciate her.

I just looked for someone who could slam jam. I found Illaoi, and no one could slam or jam quite as hard as her. She has this "COME AND FACE ME" vibe that I love. Especially when she sets up the tentacle arena.

I want to say sheeva from MK is similar. So is Zorin Blitz from hellsing ultimate but she's a anime. Cammy from street fighter is very muscular; Chun Li also but her proportions are very bottom heavy. Zarya is very close to Illaoi's exact body type but like in real life it's rare to see a woman with such proportions. All these woman are muscular just in different ways and areas.

Illaoi is one of my favorite champions. I'm someone who really likes badass champions and the power fantasy and all that. She's one of the few female champions I really like (sexy slim bodies usually put me off). The best part about her is when they gank you 3v1 and you kill them all
Every time, like when I am bot and I see the illaoi in face get gank by 2 or 3, she kill everyone like wtf girl we trying to win here.

Riot higher ups, very likely.
The thing is we are vocal minority. However Riot is still trying to make diverse character pool, but also make it so that effort spent on creating such unique champions would be meaningfull in terms of League of Legends gameplay. So I wouldn't be very happy managing all those things at Riot. You just can't create characters that simply won't be played by most of your audience, just to satisfy vocal minority.

I used to play League and as a former Wukong main, I used to have nightmares of her destroying me with her tentacles. Nowadays I have different kinds of dreams about her tentacles.

Man I adore everything about Illaoi, design to gameplay, everything fits her so perfectly.
The animations are done so well! She oozes her confidence in her strength. Riot didn't drop this in any detail. It's one of the few times the splash art and game model/play actually show the exact same person.

Another game that has female body types that are unique like Illaoi is Dead by Daylight, with characters like the Huntress, a Russian woman who throws hatchets and hums a lullaby to taunt her foes. Another character whose body type is unique is the Twins, where it takes the idea of Conjoined twins to a more creepy design, where you can split the two of them apart. The reason I mention the Twins is that the sister, Charlotte has a body type that's not skinny, but fits a body type that would have been seen as regular around the time of the Black plague in France.
This is another comment to ask you to check out Dead by Daylight's character designs because they've been working the extra 100% for the new characters.
She and Jinx were basically the two toes in the water that let riot grow. All of the women in the game where basically the same hourglass figure. Jinx was, well, flat, but still uber popular and was followed by Illoai to see if lightning struck twice. While she wasn't as popular as Jinx, she was still highly picked so it allowed them to start giving more variation. Hell, some characters have gotten more variation since then with remakes (akali is a lot more svelt in her remake where she was originally just another hourglass).

I also love it that she isn't the stereotypical "miscular russian woman" or sth like that. Thres just something about her samoan (at least I think its samoan) design that makes her both intriguing, exotic and terrifying
YES, finally some love for the buffest lady, I adore her uniqueness and musculature (for multiple reasons OOF) and I wish Riot would take more interesting body shapes into account. Not every champ has to be Seraphine or Gwen or Viego. Let the bigger body shapes fill out the silhouette, not the hilariously large weapon, or the soul powered skateboard.

She is not just one of my favorite characters to play as, but one of my favorite designs in video games. It's why I hope the RPG game coming out later really lets us explore her character more.

This is one if the best Designs in the whole of league. It both subverts tropes (like the "weak magic user" and "only runway boddytypes") and fits perfectly with her lore. 10/10

About the lack of ostentation - what if the Illaoi we see in game is the day-to-day garb of her Priesthood, sort of like how the black frock and white collar is the day-to-day garb of most Catholic Priests, but when it comes to put on a show (ie: Sunday Sunday Sunday!), they have a much more spectacular set of robes. And so when Illaoi is set to put on a show, she has a much more flashy outfit?
I'd be curious to see what kind of an outfit that would look like - could be a very interesting skin. And Illaoi NEEDS more Skins. Rito, you've made your money with the Groove Lux skin, and the Pyjama Guardian Lux skin, and the Star Guardian Lux Skin, and the Night/Day Skins, and... well, is there a skin of Lux that hasn't sold well? Can you put a little bit of those resources into creating a Priestess Illaoi skin? And you could even make all the chroma's canon - who knows what a Blue Robe means? Maybe a White Robe is a robe for Mourning, and a Red Robe is a robe for Marriage, and a Black Robe is a robe for dispensing Justice, and a Yellow robe is for a Joyous Celebration that isn't Marriage... etc.?

As a person trying to learn illaoi, her design is well complimented with her actions in game, the animations make her feel like a brute to play and it’s kind of refreshing on a female champ.

The only thing i can complain about illaoi is that her skills lack CC she should be able to grab someone and keep them in place with the tentacles, even if they are Ghost tentacles

Personally, I think Shyvana need to have a similar, if not as muscular, body type like Illaoe.
She is supposed to be a dragon "born", a juggernaut. Instead we have a (although sexy in her own way) skinny beach body wearing some type of armor that turns into a heavely bad nutrition dragon.
