- Thanks for watching my Diy Glass Cabochon tutorial!!
What you need:
·Glass Cabochons (can be found online etsy, ebay, etc)
·Scissors
·Annie Howes Glamour Seal
·Printed Images (Please note these should be the same size as your glass cabochons. Also the paper matters as well. You can use laser printed color paper or high quality photo paper. You have to test it out to make sure there is no splotches or ink bleeds in the paper as it also depends on the printer and ink it uses. I use a high quality canon photo printer on glossy canon paper)
·Settings for your cabochons. Make sure they are the matching size of your glass!
My current set up is: Glossy Kodak photo paper with our Canon Inkjet Pixma ix6820

Sorry you need Photoshop or similar program to do this
t h a n k s
Can you PLEASE tell me how to purchase this glamour seal?
The link is in the video description :)
@@projectpinupgirl thank you soooo much
Does this turn the cabochon foggy eventually? I have tried to make mine but it eventually gets a film on it.
love this tutorial.it made me subscribe lovely jewelry that was easy to learn without a lot of blabbing so well done
Patricia Weaver Thank you so much!
Do you have to seal the back of the photo paper before gluing into trays? If so, what would you seal the backs (photo card stock/paper) with?
Thanks
With the photo paper I use I do not have to seal the back.
great tutorial! I am interested in that glue. Saw another tutorial that used the E6000 as the adhesive between glass and print... maybe this glamour seal has less odor, and not as stringy?
Very good question! The glamour seal is pretty much like a pva glue. The e6000 is pretty toxic and I have tried both but prefer the glamour seal as it dries way faster than e6000 and way safer!
How did you make you images into circles and ovals?
I mistakenly purchased Glamour GLAZE instead of Glamour SEAL so i had to get my prints laser printed (DONE).
Is the process the SAME as with Glamour Glaze as it is with Glamour Seal?
I can NOT find instructions or a tutorial specific to Glamour Glaze???
Is there a difference (other than laserinjet)? I am worried bc on Annie Howe website indicates tutorial for Glamour Glaze BUT WHEN I CLICK ON IT, NOTHING HAPPENS, when i click on tutorial for Glamour Seal, it days ger pics were made with Glamour Glaze but she was ysing Glamour Seal??? It does nention under the video that yellowing happens with products other than Glamour Seal. Idk IF THAT ALSO REFERRED TO GKAMOUR GLAZE ALSO???
please help, i want to start assembling, so badly!
@@robinmiller4128 I've only used glamour seal
I meant to say black earring cabochon trays.
I still get bubbles even when I use your method to move it around in a circle. I’m not applying too much glue.
What is your setup? Paper, ink? Also are you doing it on top a very smooth surface like glass?
My cabochons come out cloudy. Is it the glue?
Where do you buy glass cabochons? Michael's has some that are frosted and not quite a perfect circle, so I waited. Is there a place to order them or a certain brand? If so, where is it??
You can get them off of aliexpress.com, hobby lobby, ebay and etsy
I need help. I spent 16+ hrs a day, editing & shrinking pics to bezel sizes needed for 6 wks+, then I couldn't get my mini pics onto 1 standard size paper & they would NOT copy at the size I made them for? I wanted to cry. Watched MANY PHOTOSHOP & OTHER TUTORIALS, without luck. What program do you use to copy your mini pics onto 1 page?
I finally took my files to a print shop business & was charged $25. for 1/2 hr work for girl to make me 4 pages of my pics using the ultra premium paper that I brought in. My hubby was NOT HAPPY. Will you please advise. Thanks so much
@@robinmiller4128 The only thing I can think of is that you are not printing 100% but at print fit to page.
@projectpinupgirl when I have a file open & click print, it prints the exact size that I created it, but then I have 1 tiny little pic on a full size paper. Photoshop won't let me copy & paste numerous pics on 1 page. The print shop used Abobe Design & I was told by another shop that I needed to create them in another program like Microsoft Publisher.
Thanks for your input
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love the lightweight acrylic earring bezels in the beginning of your video. Do you know where I could buy them?
Yes! You can find them on etsy!
How can you waterproof them?
What paper is it
Kodak photo paper
Thank you for an amazing tutorial i got my glue ordered. Wanted to ask you do seal the image on the back before adding to the pendant backing?
I dont need to. But you could!
With solid earrings is there any bleeding when applying glue to the finished image on the earring blank?
Not with this set up I have :)
Hi! Thanks for posting this video. I have the same printer as you & I'm also using the same paper. I'm wondering how you're able to do these without any bubbles? It seems no matter how many times I try I always have bubbles. I'm also using the same glue.
Practice practice practice! When you press down in circles make sure you are try to move the bubbles out before it dries :)
I have been using your methods and I still get silvering around the edges of the print. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Using same glue, flat surface, laser printed images on medium weight gloss paper, etc. any ideas what would still causes the silvering? They look great when I assemble but hours later they have silvering bubbles. I can’t even get to the bezel part of assembly because I can’t get any that don’t have some kind of silvering. Feeling very defeated.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that. I personally do not use laser printed paper, I use my ink jet Canon Pixma with kodak gloss paper. I would try maybe a matte laser? A friend of mine uses the matte version. Sometime it all depends on the pressure you are using as well when applying the glass. Don't feel defeated, its all about trial and error especially when you do not have the same set up like i do. Try multiple ways and see what ways work for you!
Ok I’ll keep trying other things. Thank you for your response. I love that your technique doesn’t require days and days of coating the paper with sealant like I’ve seen in other tutorials. That would take the fun out of it.
@@candicane118 haha you're welcome 💜 I've wanted to make a better video since I'm much more efficient at video editing! I hope you can get your set up working!!! This is what works for me, and I have glassed 1000's of cabachons for my business ;)
I'm new to cabochons and I am also getting silvery spots. Did you ever find a solution? Thanks.
@@biffmalibu3052 unfortunately no I didn’t. When I looked closer at others selling them on Etsy I can easily see horrible large silver areas that make it look cheap. I was able to get minimal silver areas but I didn’t like having any. So I’m assuming there’s no way around it when adhering a cabachon to a pre-printed image. I think they’re fine if you’re gonna use them for your own use or to give family but I wouldn’t sell them.
Thanks so much. Just starting to work with Cabs and this was super helpful!
Hi just wondering what you use to remove excess glue once dried on cabochon i tried isopropel alcohol but this seems to have slightly smear my image. Thanks any tips would be greatly appreciated
You can use the blade from an X-acto knife. It will not scratch the glass.
What kind of paper u use ?
Hi.. do you use glossy sheet to print your images? Or normal white cardstock works? Thank you.
Riddhi shah yes we use glossy Kodak photo paper with our canon inkjet
Nice...but if u don’t mind, what kind of paper u r using??
Kodak glossy paper
What type of paper do you use?
HI! I have the paper and the ink and even the glamour seal down pat, the only issue I have is that when I trim the excess paper off, I start to notice the glass separate from the tile a bit creating a thin silver line around the edges, I suppose air is getting in? This has happened even after drying overnight. How can I trim the paper without that happening?
I did some of these last night, and the mod podge is still wet underneath the glass. Will it dry eventually, or do I need to start over again?
Great one..... When are you making video of how to make and print designs as you promised below....just curious.
Hi! thank you so much for your video. have you tried mod podge dimensional magic before? the glue creates little shiny markings around the edges of the image as soon as it dries. I would really appreciate if you have an insight about this! :)
Valentini Loizou yes I have! wasn't really a fan. I found that it does bleed quite a bit and too many imperfections. I definitely love the glamour seal better! Annie Howes also has a glaze!
Thank you for your help and quick reply! :) Unfortunately the glamour seal doesn't ship to Cyprus, where I currently live. I'm also doing this glass cabochon pendants that fit in little pendant trays. I will give diamond glaze a shot...have you by any chance tried this one?
Great tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing your technique using Glamour Seal! =)
+Annie Howes Yay! Glad you like it! Your Glamour Seal ROCKS!!! :)
Also what is the best paper to use for your images? Thanks
The one I found that doesn't bleed the glue through the image is Kodak glossy paper.
Hi I would love to do this but when I look up the Kodak paper I see measurements 4x6 is that still good for a printer ?
Yes you can print on any size, you just have to specify the correct size of the actual image to fit the paper
What about a regular picture the glamor seal can work on it?
So you don't put any sealant down over the image first? I tried Diamond Glaze directly over an inkjet-printed image on photo paper and the ink started bleeding. You haven't had this happen with Glamour Seal?
Nope! It also depends on the type of printer, ink and paper. I use a canon photo printer with Kodak glossy photo paper and I get perfect results every time!
All i see is fingers would be nice if camera was on what your doing
What size of picture would you print for use in a 25mm round cabochon pendant?
Doesnt matter what size, but the actual cabochon size when printed on the page must match 25mm
What kind of printer are you using to print out your photos? I am having a hard time finding a good quality printer.
Hi we use a canon pixima printer. I only use canon as Ive noticed not a great print quality with inks with other printers. My model is the ix6820 :)
What paper do you use?
Kodak glossy
Thank you for this tutorial, very helpful. I am wondering if the glamour seal is safe for alcohol inks. I use yupo paper and I also do a quick krylon UV spray before I adhere them to the pendant tray. I currently use epoxy stickers, but want to try the cabochon. Do you feel these adhesive would be ok? Thank you! :)
I'm not sure as I have never tried those combinations! But it doesn't hurt to give it a try!
Thanks for your Tutorial, would you please tell me what printer and paper do you use for printing images?
yes we use glossy Kodak photo paper with our canon inkjet
Thank you for sharing your ideas and work. I am wondering where to get the earring cabochons (i the beginning of your video). They are really cool. Thanks!
Hi! The acrylic ones I had custom made :)
What size are the watermelon earrings? Do you just use regular cardstock to print off of? Thanks for this tutorial!
These are 10mm
Where can I purchase the acrylic trays that you have made? I also ordered some Glamour Seal because of problems on photo paper with inkjet printer. Im getting silver spots with diamond glaze and 3D crystal lacquer....
Killarney Meadows English Shepherds I have a link in the video comments :)
You can find them on etsy, ebay, amazon and other various craft markets!
I have had some issues with the dried glaze cracking and separating from the edge of the cabochon or tile when i trim the image with scissors after everything has dried. Any helpful suggestions?
Hello ! you can use a exacto knife with a very sharp blade.
Hello.. I see that you recommend glossy Kodak photo paper with an inkjet canon printer, which is what I have. I was looking at Annie Howes website and they don't recommend this type of paper, but do recommend matte paper, 90# or cover weight. Have you used the matte paper? What's the difference? Thanks Roxy
ROXANNA ROADARMEL hi! I've used matte but it really dulls the image. So thats why I use this paper because its a medium gloss so its perfect for this kind of crafting!
Mark Roadarmel I run a professional business and I have never had issues with using this particular paper with my canon inkjet and the Annie Howes. One of the main reasons I use this as well, is that matte paper will let the e6000 bleed through the paper. With the gloss I never have this problem. Also the image never fades over time.
do you know if this works for photo's printed on photo paper (using inkjet) or will it smudge?
I use it on inkjet and it works! Its even advertised for inkjet on the bottle :)
You have a really nice voice. I could listen to you all day.
Aaron Brennan haha thanks!
I bought the glamor seal and E6000. I attached the glass and it worked beautifully with the glamor seal. Unfortunately ,the E6000 went through the images. ): I used photo paper and it did bleed through. PLEASE HELP! When you use the E6000 how much do you use? Did I use too much maybe? I am so disappointed I ruined 25 items.
Oh no! Yes you only need to use a tiny bit. It's a pretty strong glue so you do not need to use alot. Try and spread it out thinly too when you apply it. You can take all the defective ones off and soak them in water then the images will come of the glass and you can re-do the glamour seal process. Hope that helps!
Thank you! I put a lot of the E6000 on. I guess it was too much and went through the image. I'll put a lot less on this time. Thanks so much for your help! (:
Lol! I totally had that happen before! Glad I can help! :)
Do you seal the back of the image at all?
Nope not necessary with my settings :)
Awesome, thanks!
Where did u get that first black pendant setting?
You can find them online like ebay, etsy and amazon!
what is the app or program where u create ur works ( the pictures)?
I use photoshop :)
Great diy but can you suggest the best type of photo: glossy or matte?
I personally like glossy but I can do both!
projectpinupgirl Thanks for telling me. I appreciate it.
Where do you get the paper from? How do you create your own images?
You can get it on amazon, best buy and target! I will soon shoot a video all about creating images in Photoshop. Stay tuned!
Thanks a lot for replying and the info! I look forward to that video!
What program do you use to create your images? I have something I want to have written but not sure how to get the exact size for round 25mm pendant. I do have a Silhouette Cameo, not sure if I can use that.
Karen M I design everything in Photoshop. :)
projectpinupgirl I don't have photo shop, Can I use Microsoft Word?
no. you need a photo editing software program
projectpinupgirl this could be a problem as I don't have anything like that.
Karen M I'm sorry but you will need a photo editing program to design images so they can be the correct size to match your glass.
Where do you get the big cabochon setting? Do you have a link?
go fly a kite Those I have custom made for me. But you can find many different settings on etsy and eBay!
projectpinupgirl could you kindly point me in the direction where to get them custom made if that is possible please?
go fly a kite yes I have a link in the videos comments
projectpinupgirl I looked threw all the comments and replies and I didn't see a link only a recommendation to Amazon, eBay and Etsy
go fly a kite its in the main video description box.
