I make jewelry for my jewelry shop that I own. I am always looking for fun and creative new pieces. I have seen a lot of people do this or their version of it. I really like it and think that I might give it a try. Your pieces look great. You did an awesome job on them!
They turned out very pretty! When I did the cabs, I painted the flat side and the clear rounded top, magnified whatever I painted. Painting the cabs is the same as painting your nails, just in Reverse. If you want your glitter to really sparkle, put top coat on first, then glitter, then a opaque back coat. I've stamped the back, then clear coat, then added colors for a different look. When I'd make a mistake, it was an easy fix, acetone on a Q-Tip and I was good to go. E6000 was my glue of choice to attach a bail or backing.
Hi Shari -- the marble painting is a very thin coating of polish, so you will need to put on several coats of clear polish. And as Jess has suggested, you can try and give the back a coat of clear. Since I typically put mine in some sort of setting I don't usually paint the back -- but if you don't use a setting, give the back side a nice coat.
+Beaded Jewelry Diva Thank you for your tip. I have tried with numerous layers but after a few wears the nail polish pulls away from the cabochon. Any other tips?
Please tell me where you get the caps I looked everywhere and can't find them anywhere help and I love your video I've wasted so much money on backings that don't work glue everywhere thank you so much please reply I need them ASAP 😣
Thank you for sharing - great creativity, I really like your idea the dichroic look is what I needed to paint over my silver leafed necklace. I do guilding for my jewelry parts when old costume jewelry is dis-colored. I hope to visit your site for product..
Where did you get the glass cabochons and the backings? What is the size of the cabochon that you are using? I see that they sell them very cheap in a bag at the Dollar Tree is that what you are using?
Have you used diamond glaze on these tree trays? I have some of the same trays with the tree on the back and just wanted to see if the metal would react to the diamond glaze.
Betsy Tull Hi! I am glad you enjoyed the video (and it really is fun). I got the rings on Amazon, and you can find them on ebay as well -- search on "nail display rings".
These are really beautiful, love the idea. Do you think this process would work on Epoxy domes istead of glass domes? I have a bunch and this would be an ideal way to use them. Thank you for the video.
+Karen Samuels Thanks for your question! I had a neutral color as the background, and for the spots, I did some random "C" shapes in black. Finally, some white splotches near and on the black spots.
Really beautiful idea! I would love to make some to use in bead embordery. Instead of using a backing, I just want to bezel them onto the material. Where do I find the glass cabachons? What size did you use? Thanks so much for an inspiring video.
+Beverly Hart Hello! I used 25mm cabs for this, although 18mm-20mm would well too. I got them on Amazon: amzn.to/1YU07J2 I am glad that you enjoyed the video! :)
I don't know where you live but if you are in the United States most dollar trees have some in the crafting/home goods section. You get a big bundle for $1 a bag.
Awesome video! I was wondering where you got the pendant backings from..? I too like to make my own necklaces but can't seem to find exactly where to buy the different backings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
+KitKat Hi, and thanks for your comment! For things like pendant backings, I usually get them from either Amazon or FusionBeads. These are ones like I used in the video (from Amazon): amzn.to/1HbDEEH
Hello! Great video. :) Do you happen to remember where you got the cabachons and the bezel it sits into? If you have a link that would be even better!! Thanks so much. :)
thus is really cool but how come you announce the color of the nail polish? i mean, white is white, this color is that color and so on. but i understand why you are doing that
If you do it on the back instead it gives a very cool magnified effect. :)

Hi! Thanks so much for leaving the comments and some great ideas! :D
These are so lovely! The tape idea is genius ! 👌 thank you ❤
GORGEOUS ❤❤❤
Those are really beautiful. Love them.
Those are gorgeous! And your nails are too! Thanks for the vid.
+Ellen J Thank you! :D
Hi Beaded This Is A Great Tutorial.. Truly Appreciate You.. Thank You so Much. I just love to watch awesome Videos.
Hi Lisa, thank you! :)
I have used nail polish on some of my altered dominos. They are very nice as are your cabs
So Beautiful 😊
love it, I love dichroic and this is very close to it as possible
Glad you enjoyed it! :D
What lovely pieces! However, I would worry that the polish would chip off. I think doing the back would prevent this.
Love the pink!
Thank you!
Beaded Jewelry Diva
I’ve used them with pin backings. Dominoes are great too.
These are beautiful! However if you paint on the bottom side of the cabachon it works better. The polish won't chip. I make earrings all the time.
Hi! how do you do it so the nail polish won't chip? Many of my cabochons that I marble paint with water chip off, pulling the bail off with it.

+Shari M I use settings as well and I still paint the back and not the front.
+Beaded Jewelry Diva I put mine in settings also and I still only paint the back.
I liked your tutorial. Great colors ! Thank you. Best wishes from Romania. Melinda
melinda lacatus Thank you so much, Melinda! Best wishes to you as well. :D
Beautiful! Thank You for sharing with us! Hugs 2U!
fun nail art! Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Hi nanajodi201, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! These cabs are like potato chips -- I can't do just one, LOL. :D
I hear that! I have that problem with most crafty projects - just can't put them down!
Love your nails
Thank you, Clara! :D
They look so beautiful! I always made them by appling nailpolish on the back of the glass cabochon, but I will surely try your way.
adamantix They do turn out lovely. The more layers of clear topcoat you put on, the more depth you dive them. :)
oh love this idea as well thanks for sharing
Hi Bev, I'm glad I was able to help spark your imagination -- I hope you have fun making some! :)
fun idea! just an FYI -- roll the polish between your hands - never shake. shaking makes bubbles.
Diana Robles Hi! Very true, I should be rolling and not shaking, but old habits die hard sometimes. ;) Thanks!
Can you please send me the link to your etsy store? Every time I tried the link in the description, it brought me to a Japanese sports site!
this is wonderful
Thank you!

Do they need to be sealed with something

Hi Carol, I am glad you enjoyed the video! That's a neat idea, for gilding discolored vintage pieces -- thanks so much for sharing! :D
Great idea!
Hi J.M., thank you! :)
gotta say first I was like okay nail polish so what BUT these are really pretty

Hi these are great
To dry them off can you use a hair dryer
Thank you sooo much.
Betsy Tull You are very welcome. :)
Nice video. Where did you get the backings?
louise dery Amazon
So easy to do! Tha ks!
You are welcome! :D

Hi Bethany, no I haven't tried Diamond Glaze. To be honest, a lot of time I use clear gel nail polish! (Of course that requires a UV/LED light.). :D
very nice
Thank you, Romana. :)
Very fun! May I ask where you got the clips on your nail polish bottles? Brilliant idea!

Arlene Spaulding Great question! I don't see why it wouldn't work -- try one and see! :D
Great video. I noticed you had a animal print cabachon. How did you do that one?
+Karen Samuels Thanks for your question! I had a neutral color as the background, and for the spots, I did some random "C" shapes in black. Finally, some white splotches near and on the black spots.
Thanks so much! Definitely going to try some.

Sasha Amazon! The seller is "Pepperonly" :D
Beaded Jewelry Diva Thank you!
u r welcome
I got a lot of glitter polishes from dollar tree. Don't need to add loose glitter!
Donde quedo el español

+Luna Miles Thanks for the question! I did it because people who are into nail polish like to know exactly what color is being used. :)
