- Morley and Eden talk about building a pull-out deck for the van, how it felt to take a week off of building while in the midst of a time crunch, designing our water system, Morley's love of woodworking, the coming cold weather, preparing for our wedding in 2 weeks, and what it will be like to live in the van with 2 pets and no washing machine.

Loving this series. Best of luck with wedding prep as the big day gets closer! Also, video after the wedding seems to go against the rule of Don't Mix Personal With Business, but that said, I could see recording something to share with your close friends could be fun. :)
I suggest you invest in a second set of sheets. Disaster avoided.
keep in mind when a drawer is rated to some weight, thats for the contents of a drawer. so the weight is evenly distributed across the arms, not all hanging off the end of the drawer runner.
So if its a 1m runner, for 300lbs, thats from the mid point. so 300lbs*0.5m * 1m = 150lbs on the very end of the runner.
SO a full grown person going right to the end is probably exceeding what its rated for, which doesn't mean it will break right away but looking at the way it bends a bit, eventually the U shape of the metal on the runners will bend bit by bit over time until that u shape that is strong is on long a u shape and then it gives out.
Had it happen with a big 60cmx120cmx40cm draw i built and filled with tools, over time pulling it out the weight bent the bars and they kept slipping out of the runners, so i had to replace them and move some stuff out of the drawer.
Thanks for the info!
@@MorleyKert Hi morley, just wanted to tack on my two cents to this. If this becomes an issue in the future you could modify the box shape and use heavy duty ball bearing slides both on the sides and bottom to double up and increase rigidity that way. The slightly simpler style of slides might carry a fraction less weight per slide but because of their shape you could double them up.
A good way to build this specific van is to build a raised bed a full size bed so that you have a ton of space to put basically a trunk full of stuff under heath it, u would of had enough room for like 8 down grid batteries and plenty of room for stuff for paragliding and clothes and even tools for on the road repairs. And then where your second seat is in the front right behind that have a seating area where you can flip it up and have a real nice real big freezer/fridge that can actually slide outwards where the door opens and doubles for a double seating area.
Great progress!
I can’t wait for the wedding ❤
Morley, When You Go On The Road Please Come Through Southwestern Pennsylvania and Visit Me. I Still Have That Table For You Buddy. I Was Able To Hand Plane One Side Of It. But it's Here Lol. I'm Loving Your Van Build Vids. I'm Actually Trying To Start To Build A Self Sustaining Cabin on My Parents Property.
I spent like 5 minutes looking for the microphones. Great job hiding them in the hair bands. Those little things are super versatile and sound great.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad the audio is good. Next time we’ll put them on the side facing away from the camera 😂
I have a handle sticker on my truck, but [imho] for full-time living space, I think your "no handle" idea makes the most sense. Stealth travel!
As you say, you'll be recognized plenty as it is.
I'm ordained, so maybe I'm prejudiced, but I don't think the van (Vanna?) can perform the wedding. Then again, do you need a Best Van to stand by (roll up?) as a witness?
Cheers!
It totally was the BEST part of the episode. Thank you for keeping it real. 😂
Will you have space on your roof where you could put a roof rack? You could store some tools up there. Maybe even a small tablesaw. Maybe one of those small tablesaw/chopsaw combo machines could be perfect for you.
We will have a roof rack, but mainly for our solar panels and maybe some awnings. I think I will be able to fit a good selection of tools in the van, and manage fine working out of other makers shops around North America!
super sick series, i wanna see the final build already!
That sliding deck seems like a natural height for a "dining table" (workbench, too, for sure!), and I'm visualizing an extendable canopy ... (as if my ideas should have any significance!).
Cheers to ya!
Yes! Id love to put a canopy off the back (and a second over the sliding side door)
@@MorleyKert I trust your design skills far beyond my own, so I'm sure it's all going to turn out well (including any inevitable revisions and/or needed re-do's along the way). Thanks for sharing your process (and for this little chat).
You can certainly get an extensible awning for the side (& maybe for the back) made for vans. @@MorleyKert
Remedy for the shower handle mounting,,,
I think it's upside down; try to flip it and see if it works properly 🙏
The cat story killed me 😂
I can completely empathise with you, Morley. In moments of panic like that, my brain also falls into what I call “Hlepful mode” (because it looks like it’s helpful but turns out it isn’t really 😉😂)
I feel jealous of you guys! Keep that great job and excellent vibe.
In regards to the mobile woodworking dilemma, have you heard about Milwaukee's new cordless 1/2" router. It's 2.25hp, has a plunge base, and an attachment to hook onto a tracksaw track. It's pricey, but I imagine that'll damn near deliver mobile woodworking.
That’s a cool idea! I will check it out 😊
guys i have been binging the CRAP out of your channel for the past ... 8 hours maybe 😂
Wow!! Thanks for watching :)
still watching 🤣🤣🤣
@@MorleyKert like right now lol
RUclips didn't show me this video in my feed, wired i watch every video. Found out from ig.
Lmao the cat story was the best 😂😂😂
Haha agreed 😂
Love the cloud socks and sandals ☁️ I used to rock toe socks and sandals in the fall or atleast I thought I did 😂
Wow 3 weeks from your wedding 7 weeks from the adventure!! Congrats!! 🎊
Question, if you pass through or by Wichita Kansas could you help me out with a particularly challenging 3D print. If not, let us know when your close so I can take a picture with you!
Will you be in Wisconsin this summer???
foldable solar panel is slick!
Cool!!
Eden, you gotta know that throwing shade at sanding, is part of the classic RUclips woodworker repertoire, so your apologies here are completely discouraged. lol
PS Will we get to see any of your wedding photos?????We all feel like we are part of your family, in a way.
We'll probably post a few on Instagram!
drop some spoon whittling videos pls
Haha it’s one of the first videos on my channel!
Where do you store clothes and shoes?
Curious are you are going to show any of the actual build, or will the series videos be the sit-down chat type?
2 build videos are already out, next one is coming within the next couple days 😊 ruclips.net/p/PL0yOCIERwTxg_nTWigUUT2HUG2SU2kq7R&si=niB9JFRDXkqtri2B
Ha ha, I thought the same thing! It’s like the Oprah show. 2 people sitting on a couch discussing their feelings! :). Validation! Glad you said that.
This is all so exciting. You guys are an inspiration. Love your positive enthusiasm. Can't wait to see where you will go.
amazing video! i genuinely love you both and can't wait till you get your van on the road! (btw your youtube channel bio is really out of date lol!)
Thanks for watching! Guess I gotta think of a new one 🤷♂️
As for the cat, well, that and other accidents happen with pets. And people. She's worth it, so you'll cope.
Congratulations on getting married! May you live RUclipsly ever after!!
I think the cat experience is just preparing you for kids.

first? :)
