Here's something that I think would make an interesting and unique long term project: during your travels collect something (a natural choice would be small pieces of wood associated with the areas you're traveling through), and at the end of your trip make something that uses those collected pieces, like a patchwork coffee table that represents your adventure.
It would be cool to see you "pick" and restore antiques you find throughout the travels! Looking forward to the podcast also

Morley you've been jumping from leather to 3D printing to woodwork to podcasts to whatever interests you at the time for years. I at first was like don't do it! Then the more I watched your video I was jealous of the outside the box lifestyle you two were going for. It never crossed my mind... EVER to attempt this let along to do it. you have a fan for life.

Get a trailer, you can fit an entire workshop inside even a small motorcycle trailer. Get good locks on it, a good security system, and don't make it look like anything important from the outside.
Hey Morley! Just down the road from you here in Trenton! Found you from your woodworking stuff. Watching your videos helped me get into 3D printing and I picked up a P1P about a week ago! As someone building a van as well, good luck! its a lot of fun and time for sure. Its slow for us bc we have a baby and full time corporate jobs but progress is happening and is exciting.
I will say, DEFINITELY try sleeping in your van before its done. Get an air mattress and a box fan and go camping. You will realize you might want to change things. We definitely did a few times.
Have a dedicated place for the pets that they can call home. Before we had our bed platform installed, and slept on an air mattress our two dogs felt lost and awkward. Got the bed installed, gave them a designated place underneath it (temporarily using a folding travel crate and they were much happier.
Lastly, congrats on your success! been watching since low thousands subscribers and you seem genuinely nice and caring and enthusiastic. Good people for sure. Keep it up and good luck with everything!

Honestly... don't worry about the content pivot! I youtuber I'Ve been watching for years at this point (modustrial maker) did a complete content shift at the beginning of the pandemic after buying a building and if anything the shift boosted his channel way up.
This will be so exciting to follow! I hope you'll keep posing videos as you are rebuilding the van as well!

For the window miscut, maybe what happened is you *didn't* flip the template over. You need to flip the template over end for end so it is in the same orientation as it was inside.
Love the idea of this and can’t wait to see more and the dynamic between you both is awesome. Really interested to see how this plays out over the coming months 👍🏻 it’s strange because I have no interest in living in a van myself but always find the conversion really interesting as well as the different designs and storage methods people use. So I’ll just live my van life vicariously through you two 😆

Watching you use install the vent fan was real throwbacks to when I did my first van, in pretty much the same order: be nervous, measure multiple times, drill, jigsaw, too much shaking for the jigsaw, cutoff wheel.
Also: hate to break it to you, but that’s not the hardest part - the whole electrical system is much worse!

This is so wierd !! I was just thinking a few days ago.... and I'm not even making this up.... I was thinking... I wish there was a mobile 3D printing thing to come help me build all the stuff I want.
I'm brazilian and I follow a brazilian youtube channel called "vibe de dois", which is basically a vlog channel where this couple shows how their life is living in a minivan (actually a kombi which is even smaller!) traveling all the way from south south america up to alaska. It's sooooooo cozy to watch and I can't wait to have another form of content like that to watch with you!

I will never understand how this is more appealing than getting married, having lots of children, and surrounding yourself with a loving and vibrant family for the rest of your life and then having that legacy carry on for generations.

@@MorleyKert if that is truly a goal of y’all’s then that’s great, and I apologize. But many people that decide to live the van life do so because they would rather live their life traveling and living in the moment rather than investing in the future and nearly all of those types of people that I’ve met do not want families.
After traveling around America, Canada, and Alaska with my family for a year I have learned so much. if you guys want any guidance of where to go or some of what to expect while traveling we started a channel its called “Little house on the open road”
Drill your template holes on a different place top left bottom right. Then you can't flip it on the other side.
I think that you could absolutely still do the furniture builds while on the road. It'll be difficult, but imagine the story behind a coffee table made from scrap you gathered on your trip and built in different stops/ shops! If the van build isn't enough of a challenge it would be awesome to see! Already looking forward to more updates on this though! Good luck you two!

Man I bought a gorgeous 2016 extended promaster with a ramp and a lift to take the back down so the ramp is less steep…..we have a handicapped daughter and is only had 23,000 miles for only 31,000.00 us. Would love to do this but just can’t figure out a floor plan to accommodate the ramp and wheelchair placement.
You should run the van off of an EcoFlow power kit
Now you can hand deliver those $10K tables from pallets far and wide.

Hey! So Exciting! My wife and I built our a 2021 RAM Promaster 3500Extended a couple years ago and lived full time in the van across the US until very recently when we bought our first home. If you ever have any questions or want someone to bounce ideas off of, feel free to reach out. We are about to do a remodel on our van this fall actually, we learned a lot from what we did and know what we actually want out of it now. We also 3D print in our van! Solar powered printing is great ;)
