I first took note of Jeff Goldblum in the 1977 film Between the Lines, which was about an alternative Boston newspaper facing corporate takeover. He played a quirky music critic. From what I recall, it's pretty much his real personality.

Jeff Goldblum is from Pittsburgh and I saw him at the Carnegie Theater in Homestead with his jazz band. Before his show, he spent well over an hour in front of the stage taking question after question. Amazing. Sadly Haley Reinhart was not with him, but still a fun show.
