@@DeepsGnome Seiko bashing has become a meme on many of the watch channels that focus on affordability/value - most of which are channels that are shipping their own micro or sold their soul to aliX. Sticking Seiko in the video title and dragging it's name through the dirt is a guaranteed hit for traffic and great way to push your own competing brand or get some commission from a competing brand. Justonemorewatch or I like watches would be examples, but there are plenty other channels out there benefitting from this kind of behaviour
I've had a lot of problems with the mechanical Seiko models I've bought in the past few years so I feel the opposite is true with them getting too much praise 😅 Edit: At least with the 4R and 6R movements, my 4R broke (luckily within warrancy) and the 6R is running like crap, my 7S26C however is running as well as my other low-beat mechanical movements, and that one I do enjoy.
You rekindled my love of Seiko, on the strength of that, I bought a land tortoise with green dial, I absolutely love it, I bought it for £368 brand new and it’s worth every penny 👍
I bought a watch from MaMaCoo lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
Own the SPB151 and the 153. The latter is all over the place, loosing minutes… so Ill se if I Can adjust it myself. The 151 runs perfectly. Love this series. Thanks for a great video 😊
Just found your site - love it! I’m a Seiko-holic for the last several years. Own #2 of your top 10 fav’s with checkered flags and blue stripes - I call it my Speedway Seiko. I also just ordered the new POGUE from Exquisite for $700. Colors are beautiful, as is history of the original watch. My fav Seiko is the Red/Black Brian May (Queen guitarist) limited edition - gold case. Came with Red striped NATO band, 2 tone face (red-black like the design on his guitar) and developed several years ago I think, with Seiko in Japan. Watch box designed like a guitar case. Great piece. Thanks for making watch collecting fun!
I’ve had 3 watches with the 6r35 movement and I’ve had problems with every one of them. One watch (SPB143) even broke after it was sent back to Seiko UK (in Maidenhead) to be repaired (as it was losing over 45 seconds a day!) It just stopped completely. 4r35 have been good but I would strongly warn against 6r35.
I just picked up the SPB 147 with the brown dial and guilt hands off eBay for less than $600 and I LOVE it. I have been looking for a blacked out watch and that Alpinist looks perfect.
Still can’t beat the SBDJO17 I bought this Japanese domestic model and haven’t had to set the time in two years. Solar power is the way to go and it’s an ultimate looking diver.
Nice selection 👍 Have a look at the Seiko 5 Ultraseven 55th Anniversary Limited Edition SRPJ79 though. ….. and if you are totally board 😅 the original Japanese TV series 😂😂😂😂😂
I got into watches about two years ago and price was really important to me, so my first Seiko...was a Citizen. NY0040-09W. Cost me less than 200$ at the time, but ISO certified. Still love that thing. Sorry, value for money, Seiko wasn't it, and now I've got a permanent soft spot for Citizen.
Great choices. I have the green Willard and really like it apart from the keeper. I ended up switching it to a rubber keeper and the wearing experience is much better. One I got recently is one I would add to the list. The SPB401. Probably at the high end of this scale ($1250 USD). My AD was having a Father’s Day sale so it was about 25% off as I recall). Very classy retro design and white enamel dial. It is a limited edition but if you can find it look at it in person.
I have an open heart Cocktail time with a brown dial. Yep, it's a dressy watch but it's robust enough for a daily wearer if your daily wear is not going to involve swimming. IDare to be different, the dressy watch with casual clothes look really works. 😮
Love seiko, I own the Arnie, limited edition seiko 5 gmt, and the newest seiko is the speedtimer pogue, which I probably get the most compliments on everyone thinks is a Rolex Daytona
Just picked up the Pogue speedtimer and it’s stunning. But the SSC937P1 is still the prettiest watch I’ve ever owned! Can’t recommend the speedtimers enough
Wow, 10 seikos and quite a few I would add to my collection. But there’s hundreds to choose from. So many seikos , so much choice. There’s got to be a Seiko for everyone. What does the wife think of that King Seiko? Bit blingy 😂😂
Great video Russ (although a little disappointed the wife didn't get a say 😁). I actually picked up a Willard SPB153 after watching your review. My only gripe with it, is the green is a little washed out which I find affects legibility; great watch otherwise! Course, now I'm tempted to get the SLA043, but even second hand it's still US$4k 😭
I would say the Willard is my favorite and since I got it for $799 I would say it is a great value as well. The first thing I did was take it off the bracelet and put it on a waffle strap by Uncle straps.
All are cool (sez this resident Seiko fanboy), but the smaller KS gets me eye the most. As far as faves you didn't mention: the first-released SSK GMTs (my fave still being the 003 Blueberry/Batman, which I own), the JDM Alpinist GMT (which I like, but won't get, on account of already owning both the 003 GMT and 017 Alpinist), and the reissued 1968 5 Sports (which I might still get, if there are any left around in a few months).
Great video! In the £100+ bracket I highly recommend the SSB429 mecaquartz chrono. Outstanding quality for the price (and at a glance looks like the Prospex SRQ049).
I think the seiko alpinist save the forest has to the best green dial seiko has.. it looks like a grand seiko.. but alpinist money, although limited to Thailand or Japanese market..
Love them all, with maybe the exception of the speed timer, and so happy you got me on to the Willard, just love it 👍 Want a Pogue, and think they will do another closer to the original update 😃
Thanks Stu! They have to! The problem comes with that movement! It’s a whacky one they couldn’t possibly bring back ! I’ve got a sneaky feeling though that could be it for the Pogue reissue;(
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR If they don't do anything further with the Pogue re-issue I may get the one they have done as it is still pretty cool. Thank you MWC, great stuff as always 👌
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR i hope not cuz it's terrible. I expect one close to the og just like they did with the navigator. Anything less is unacceptable.
Why do you have to be so loud. My laptop was on max volume and I hadn't realised my airpods weren't connected and it absolutely blasted volume in the library. But good video haha
I didn’t like the SNX79. It has a bulbous caseback and doesn’t sit flat. The sunburst dial tends to hide the hands in certain light especially indoors. I sold mine and got an SNKL45 which is more legible and sits flat on the wrist.
Odd question but wondered if you may know? I’ve got the safarnie version (SBEQ007) but one of the screws that holds down the plastic cover has broken. Do you know how I’d get a replacement? Love the show and become a great fan of your work!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR a few years roughly, sadly it broke rather soon after purchase as I got curious what it’d look like without the cover on 😅 its not a deal breaker as I still wear and enjoy it without the screw, but there is a part of me itching at the fact it’s missing and not symmetrical!
Okay it's a great video, and a good list of watches, and I'll watch it again when I'm shopping for my next watch. But.... I'm really frustrated that Seiko doesn't make an exciting quartz watch. It's like the whole quartz crisis was for nothing. A significant moment in the history of watches... and it's pretty much gone. Seems unfortunate.
Love your videos and some great watches there. What are your thoughts on the Presage sharp edged GMT? Bought a brown dial one new for £675 that I'm waiting to collect, so yet to decide if I'm keeping it. Love the look of them but are there any better Seiko options for that sort of money?
Terrific list! My first “real” watch was a Seiko, and I’ve never looked back. Now I live, eat, breathe watches. Thankfully I don’t have to worry about what my wife thinks because she left a long time ago. 🤔. I’m kidding. She’s actually very supportive as long as I keep it “reasonable.” Thanks!
Seiko watches are always tempting bc of the price, but almost all their dimensions seem off to me, again, me, but then there's one that comes out and you want one and it's impossible to find.
Love the Speedtimer's party trick subdial but I have no use or interest in chronos As the black on black is less obvious than the bamboo chewers it would be my choice if I wanted a tiny main dial and subdials I have no real interest in. All the same kudos to Seiko for this one
Saving up credit card points to get a Seiko presage srpb77. It goes for about $335. Looks like the closest thing I can get to a grand seiko snowflake unless I win the lotto 😂
Have to say thank you Russ for not jumping on the Seiko bashing bandwagon like the rest of RUclips. A breath of fresh air
Well. They kinda deserve ut. 😂😂

That last watch the King Seiko looks utterly enchanting!
The Arnie and Alpinist are on my mind!
Definitely buy the Arnie, you can get a good deal on them if you look around, I got mine for under 300
Nice wish the Alpinist was that price! That is a good go any where do anything watch.

A little tip. The supplied strap on the Annie is long. Luckily it looks awesome on a 22mm NATO.

The green dial Seiko is gorgeous! Might have to put it on my list.
I still like the 1959 Laurel reinterpretation. I have it, one of my favorite watches
Excellent video mate. Can really feel your Seiko passion come out. Thanks for your hard work and sharing with us all

King Seiko at that price ❤❤
Just took delivery of the pogue speedtimer, Normally swap out Seiko bracelets but not this time.
I just bought an older Seiko cement face 5 sport
I’m going to put an oyster bracelet on it and tell everyone it’s the ‘Seiko Lunar’ model
The Chequered Flag ( I see Ace Cafe) looks cool and is at least a great price for the spec compared to Seiko's price hike offerings
The Seiko Shuffle - brilliant
I have a Deploy GMT and it’s great. Great size and nice bracelet. Also the accuracy on this watch is very good. Highly recommend.

That plum is gorgeous but pricey
Please review the Seiko LX Springdrive it's stunning and will fit me
My favorite new Seiko: SNE591 Solar Pepsi diver (~$350). To me it's somewhat a reinterpretation of the iconic 7548 quartz diver.
1st gen Orange Monster, Arnie, Tuna, Marinemaster 300, Uemera, and newest mechanical Speedtimer - add in a good Casio and I’m pretty content.
