I’ve discovered 4c is basically perfect. It doesn’t frizz. It straightens beautifully, and it holds a set. And…because of shrinkage you can have a shoulder length Bob on Monday and a pixie on Tuesday.

Why are we always afraid of cutting our hair. It always grows back. Especially with a good professional cut. You can see how beautiful she looks and how great she feels. Great job as always 👍🏻
I think it’s a continuity thing for some of us. I have 4C texture and over the years I was afraid of cutting off something that at times, took so long to grow. I (just like others) might wear a bun or a ponytail frequently because those can be dressed up or dressed down but if you cut it shorter some don’t understand how to style their hair ESPECIALLY with a majority 4C curl pattern. I’m natural but I can’t always wear my natural hair because I’ve been told(by family) how unruly I look. it also goes with saying that I was a younger and I didn’t have a true aspect on hair care. Now if it needs to be cut I’m fine with letting it go but not everyone likes certain protective styles or that weird in between phase lol

Thank you for actually taking the time to detangle and stretch her hair. Many natural hairstyles require you to come with already detangled/stretched hair which does not do well with someone who may not do greatest at detangling their own hair

My roommate in college needed help with the back of her head so our friend came over and gave me lessons on how to silk press her hair.
It became our routine once a week, Sunday night. I cherish the memories and I was able to use the knowledge my friend bestowed on us to help my niece who is adopted, find a proper salon. I wish all salons made an effort to know and work on all hair types and textures.

The client doesn't look happy at all, and I don't see why it was necessary to cut it that short. Although, you did a good job with her hair, it isn't fitting. Not trying to be negative at all, just providing an honest opinion
I love this great, but tell me how would this be maintained? Do we accept that in a few days it will be a puff again. Or constant heat to maintain which makes me feel that it might as well be relaxed... I just gone natural after 20 yrs relax so trying to figure it all out! X

I guess it's important to follow some of the 4c naturalistas on here doing wonderful things with styling and care - StarPuppy comes to mind as one of my favorites, as well as NappyFu. Other great type 4 hair youtubers include SheRea del Sol, Tresses of Alexis, NJ Eberhart, and Natural Academia.
