    I was academically dismissed from college and lied to my family about it for months, then moved back home and "transferred" to community college. Lied about attending for over a year until I told everyone i was dropping out to pursue construction, 10 years later i have a successful construction business. College isnt for everyone, took a lot of torment and bad decisions for me to be ok with that. But family is for everyone, cherish them ❤

    I had "parent issues" in my teenage years and young adult life, but I never once thought about harming them. Especially my mother. If a person doesn't understand that there are consequences to one's action it's usually because they weren't shown those limits (or consequences) while growing up. Yes I totally agree that kids shouldn't grow up w/ abuse but they can be disciplined, even harshly per say, w/o laying a hand on them. I wouldn't hand my kid a car, or anything else for that matter. I would give nice gifts for b'days and holidays but that's it. If they want a car, or even a game console, they would have to work for it. I would show them how to have and maintain a savings account (how to balance etc). How to save money for the things they want and take pride that they worked hard for their dreams. Show them how to look for an apt, and pay for it. But spoil them? No

    Im reading how some people feel kind of sorry for her, hoping she gets treatment, huh? Im positive the people saying this only seen this video and probably didn't watch even a minute of the trial. The trial showed she was in a clear mind. Its called malice & evil. Im sorry, but i only feel for her father, sister, and that poor mother and how she suffered. This is what happens when you get everything in life and refuse to deal with failure. That doesn't fall on anyone but yourself because nobody goes through life without falling short at something. It's part of life you're supposed to learn from these experiences. Her actions showed nothing but greed and malice because all she thought of was herself. Meanwhile, it was her parents fronting the bill for her shortcomings. You fail 3 classes, get expelled from school, then hide everything and stay at a hotel for months. Instead of sitting down with your parents and saying, "I F'd UP" you take a kitchen knife and stab your mom 23 times in the neck and then say, "I dont remember" but took steps to cover your crime indicating your aware of the consequences. Most people would receive life in prison instead she only gets 15 years. People always seem to blame others for what others do. (Edit, just look at the responses to this comment some are putting blame on the parents as if its justification. At what point does one take accountability for their own actions? ) No parents are perfect but It wasnt even shown that her parents were that hard on her. THEY JUST CARED about her well being. Even if that was the case, I've had a rough upbringing, just like a lot of people. How about i go out and hurt someone in your family and put blame on how someone treated me? HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE!

      Same! She deserves a much longer sentence and a lot less pity. She destroyed her own family because she thought that кilling her mother was the better option over coming clean. Her parents might’ve been upset over her failing out of school but they’d get over it. It doesn’t mean that she’d never be able to go to college again, she’d just have to attend community college and then transfer. The very worst thing they could do was kick her out or tell her to pay her own way. No big deal! Her dad even seemed understanding when he told her she could take some time off. She could’ve told him the truth if he was the easier parent to deal with. It’s just sad that she destroyed her own family forever over such a temporary problem.

I feel sorry for her for not being mature enough to deal with this minor setback without feeling like her life was over. Sometimes we forget that there is a nature and nurture maturity levels a person needs to reach to become an adult and there can a wide chasm between the two. A person can reach maturity in age, but life's school of the hard knocks is a different education entirely and it takes being knocked down few times to reach that maturity level. It's the rough terrain your environment nurtures you through to give you street smarts and perspective on life to deal with the endless disappointments and failures. That's why i feel sorry for her, because you cannot blame the parents for providing an upbringing that shielded her from the hard lessons in life. But experiencing some of the shitty things in life prep you up to realize that if you ain't failing you ain't trying in life. Her whole life she's been a model of an overachiever and the moment something slightly goes off the track, she resort to nuclear option on something so trivial as failing college.

      That only works for parents who aren’t abusive. She was diagnosed with BPD - borderline personality disorder. It’s a behavior disorder and not chemical or genetic. BPD is developed during childhood as a defense mechanism against emotional and mental abuse from (usually but not always) a parent. It’s not a genetic disorder. When the video said she was diagnosed borderline, that explained everything about her dynamic with her parents. Borderline people are prone to violent outbursts when their inability to “manipulate” or “control” a situation is overwhelmed, particularly if the person overwhelming them is their primary abuser. It shouldn’t be shocking that many matricides involve helicopter moms up against daughters.

      Reality is it was pride not pressure, when they threw her out of the dorm n off campus she was homeless, that's why i hate these collages unless you meet their so called quota level you're out the door, that overweight karen sitting there pridefully saying yea i kicked her out because of a few low grades should've been slapped in my opinion, think about how many people are on the street not because of drugs but because of crap like this, thrown out of a home a chance ripped away at becoming successful, but a karen like this steps in looks at a sheet or screen sees a few bad points and threw them out on the street! no that doesn't excuse what she did and she may never know why she did it in the first place, pride is a deadly thing to have and 90% of people wear their crowns of Pride/ Arrogance/self-righteousness like beacons, and that's when it becomes a sin, people dont realize it separates them from everyone else, and like in this case its either a school/campus shootings take place or in this case didnt want to disappoint mom and dad so put one if not both in the ground, she might have been given a slim chance to catch up but that womans attitude says no, Narcissistic spirit is the opposite the young womans composure isn't one of arrogance and pride, yet the karen who booted her out of a place to live displays that spirit! even though the young murder looks innocent i still see fear in her not pride and arrogance, chances are prison justice will take place and she will die by the hand of someone who belongs in jail, these short prison sentences are given because the judge figures its a death sentence in prison, 30 years ago to men walked into a connivence store, intent on robbing it just after midnight, the elderly lady working the register panicked tried to lock herself in a back room but the didnt stop Leon from breaking that door in and beating her to death with a crowbar, while his partner pretended to be a new cashier, problem was even at that time of night people came in and out of the store, and he didnt have the code to get into the register, so people called the police but didnt stay in the parking lot to see what was going to happen after, both of them got 30 years but they will never walk free, see in prison there's no such thing as self defense, so to escape prison Justice leon and stacy have killed every inmate that has went after them, no they aren't martial artist, but they've managed to stay alive,

    When my sons turned 18, I told them not everyone is interested in or ready for college. I told them I hoped they would go to college, but they had 3 options. Option 1: Attend college fulltime. Option 2: Take a couple of classes (as a part-time student) at a local Jr. College to see what it's like. If they chose this option, they would also have to work part-time. Option 3: Work full time and contribute to household expenses. They both decided to go full-time to a local Junior college and once they decided on their majors, transferred to universities. Unfortunately, my youngest son passed away before he could complete his studies. My surviving son went on to complete post-baccalaureate studies. All of this explanation is to make the point that, as parents, we need to recognize there is an emotional/psychological readiness our kids need to have to be ready to make the life-changing decision to attend college. We also need to recognize that our children eventually must follow their own path and live with the consequences of their choice.

I told him I was glad he had the opportunity to work at that type of job because that's the kind of work he would have to do, for the rest of his life, if he didn't go to college. • @natesanti
    @natesanti 10 месяцев назад +10

    I got academically suspended and took a year off. I was too focused on basic everyday needs like food and shelter to focus on grades. I come from a dirt poor family and getting through college is tough when grades are like 5th on your list of things to focus on. After taking a year off and working, I went back to school part time and worked full time. I ended up going to law school part time and working full time as well. Things worked out in the end, I’m a successful lawyer. It took me longer than others to finish because I needed to work full time. Until the day I passed the bar I always worried about my next meal or where I was going to stay, the academic path can be stressful, but worth it for some.
    The point of all this is that college is hard for some and harder for others, go at your own pace and never feel pressured to do it like others. Grades are never something you should feel the need to harm yourself or others over and I’m sad so many young people feel this way. College is not for everyone, some of the happiest people I know never went to college. And if college is your dream, take all the time you need to achieve your dream at your own pace.

    Speaking as the mom of three adult daughters, I believe this generation has been taught that their FEELINGS justify acting out in what would otherwise be seen as unethical or immoral or even monstrous ways. Especially when it comes to FEAR. It seems the expression of fears, insecurities, and inner confusion are of such a protected status that they are like living entities that are more important than limiting your behavior based on what is right and wrong. It seems that concepts of right and wrong are no longer absolutes. This creates a world where your inner thoughts carry equal or more weight than outer social mores. This is the creation of a society of narcissistic, non-empathetic monsters.

    When I first heard about the case, I thought it was just the frying pan. I didn't know that she went back and got a knife and stabbed her Mom 30 times. This isn't insanity, this girl was eliminating a threat to her reputation and even tried to frame it on intruders. It's also sickening how none of Brenda's family stood up for her during the whole court session by wanting Sydney to not be held accountable for her actions.

    It infuriates me that they tried to say Sydney was having a psychotic break that caused her too not know what she did was wrong.
    That's why she pretended to be her mother minutes after the attack in order to calm suspicion of the school officials? That's why she immediately came up with a fake story of an attacker being responsible? There is NO WAY such a serious psychotic break would instantly go away.
    No, those are not the actions of someone who does not know right from wrong. Those are the actions of someone panicking, afraid to answer for their wrongs. 🙄
    I'm not saying she doesn't have issues and didn't snap, but that is NOT the same thing! Take responsibility for one single time in your life! It just shows she is doing what she has always done...try dodge consequences any which way she possibly can think of.

      @RadioForYahweh Год назад +7

      I’m sorry I’m going against the grain the majority of y’all comments. Why I believe she COULD HAVE had a psychotic break.
      1) she was living in a delusional lie that she was still in school. When you repeat a lie so many times there is a high chance you can trick yourself into believing the lie. She lied to everyone even trying to convince the officials at the school that she isn’t kicked out. That’s not what a sane person would do. She was so hell bent on putting on this face that it became a mask she couldn’t take off
      2) She did not think to turn off her tracking device and knew her parents would eventually know she was home. She really tried to put on a front that she was on break and continued to lie. She tried to keep officials from calling her parents to keep up the lie. Again she is so convinced of this but underlining knows she’s suspended
      3) she lived in a constant fear of disappointment and reputation to live up to her parents standards and fall behind in her mothers footsteps. The pressure of keeping her grades up to not lose her scholarship or the chances of rooming with her best friend and the illusion and delusion of this perfect life she had in head of what her life should be like. This is affirmed by when she told her dad that her friends all had their shit together but she did not. She felt like a failure, she measured her worth by others and the expectations of others.
      4) If this was a premeditated attack she would have attacked her mom well before the school was able to call the mom. She would have done it Sooner. She would have hung up the phone prior to hitting her. I believe she paced back and forth anxious and in destress while she talked to the school. And then snapped. As someone with bipolar diagnosis and other mental health and congnative disorders, I have had many blacks out rage moments. Where I have fought people or damaged property and I could not remember doing it. This episodes still happen not violently but simple things like, last week I was told I was behind the register at work where I should not have been. I argued with the manager that I was not. This makes me look like a liar as it’s on camera but I do not remember going behind the register. I didn’t do anything or touch anything I was just standing there. That’s why I believe this COULD HAVE occurred. I also had another inscident years ago where I was calling everyone in my phone book pretending to be my “cousin” why? I have no clue and it’s still bugs me this day. My sister called authorities and I ended back up at the mental hospital for a few weeks.
      5) many people who do not understand the situation or concept of what it’s like to black out in a fit of rage a fight or flight situation will always say she’s lying. The crying and perking up which I saw a few state, again is not always what YOU think it is. There is a sense of hopelessness during sentencing (I have gone through this for my past actions) and I hear something that gives a gleam of hope I can snap between sadness and joy in an instance. I am not faking it’s just how my stupid brain functions. This happened when I was 24 and I was being disciplined at work for something and I started crying because the manager told me I could have killed someone by my actions, and I had a mini panic attack and then it was over because I realized I was crying in a meeting and got myself together and she made the comment “you seem to be manipulating the situation, one moment your distraught and the next you’re fine” that then threw me in a rage. It took years. Of therapy and self evaluation along with medication to get me to where I am.
      So that’s why I’m going against the grain. I am not condoning anything, I have paid for my sins also and did my fair share of jail time and thank God I have not killed anyone. I’m just saying, sitting here listening to thing and reading comments. I saw self and what I would have become if it were but for God and the people around me to help me get the help I needed when I did.
