- This is our Reaction to Nightwish Ghost Love Score Wacken 2013 Live. Lukasz used to listen to Nightwish quite a bit some time ago, but I never heard the band or the name up until we started doing reaction videos. Many of our viewers recommended Ghost Love Score - so here we are :) And yes... you probably guessed it - we are not parking attendants :D

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I saw, you liked the powerful performance of the band. Hope you'll continue on this path.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

@@EbonyIvoryReact hey Ebony & Ivory ! , Welcome to the best band and female vocalist of our time, I know bold statement but if you take the journey you will understand ,the YT fan base is massive,passionate &very active, 80% of which is for the Floor era,GLS is the epitome of Symphonic Metal with more of a classical influence as is many of their compositions but many from this concert are much heavier ,also GLS is the most reacted to song on YT ever with several vocal coaches having over 2.5 Million views .But this was but a very small taste of what Floor & NW has in store for you.
*there are 2 pivotal events since Floor Jansen came aboard NW in late 2012 #1 Wacken 2013 - #2 Beste Zangers 2019 at this popular Dutch tv show filmed on Ibiza some top Dutch singers past & present get together and the person on the center couch for the day has one of their songs or a song that has meaning to them sung back to them reinterpreted by the other singers,novel idea .

The current lead singer is Floor Jansen. They are many times called Symphonic Metal. They are very good. Floor does other types of music too. 13:01 Yes, she is classically trained & does sing opera. She seems to prefer to sing other styles though. Just search her name & you will see. Great reaction.

Nightwish's first singer was Tarja Turunen. She left the band in 2005 and in 2007 Anette Olzon took over. She left Nightwish in the middle of their USA tour in 2012. Floor Jansen stepped in to complete the tour with them and has never left. I hope you'll do more Nightwish reactions, as there's a lot of variety in their music. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist and songwriter of Nightwish) is the main composer for Nightwish.
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williamns helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a childrens' choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
Marko Hietala is "The Viking" ( is a Finnish heavy metal vocalist, bassist and songwriter) is the former Bassist...
Emppu Vuorinen is the Electric Hobbit and trickster (Finnish guitarist, most famous for being a founding member of Nightwish and occasional songwriter).
Jukka "The Pirate" Nevalainen is the former drummer in the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish (left for health reasons, but is still a member behinde the scenes).
He Is famous among Nightwish fans for wearing a bandana on his head, even during shows, his energetic drumming style, and for his spinning of his drumsticks. Joined Nightwish at the age of 17. Do the health issues (insomnia), He stepped down and the new drummer is his friend Kai Hahto ("The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto).

You now heard some of the skills our 1.83m Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen has to offer as the third and present singer of Nightwish. Just wait when she gets in full Dutch Windmill mode with her hair. She added the ending herself and this song has become their anthem since. As I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands, here is some background information on her. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also has some classical singing education. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The song 'Disdain' is a good example:

Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. S he had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is very challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating is this iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival which set new standards in Open Air concerts. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band as the relationship between Nightwish and Annette was strained even before she got ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp'for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor is in my opinion the best vocalist on the planet. She can sing any style she wants to, ranging from death growls to opera. She is rock and opera trained. She has sung in at least 8 different languages. In this concert, this song is the 13th one and she still manages with ease to sing that crazy high and long belt! She's a lioness (and a Goddess. many fans refer to her as The Goddess of Metal. Now you know why).

this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream"
this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

First time I heard this song was with Tarja singing it, which was excellent, but Floor takes it even further (though I prefer Tarja in Nemo.)

You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen). Although the band is Finnish their 3rd female vocalist isn’t, she is Dutch. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons.
On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer.

Floor has taken operatic and Musical Theater training. She can sing opera, but prefers to use it in a more metal style music. This allows her to use many different vocal textures.

By his comment: Liking varied and melodic stuff, should check out "Ayreon - the Day That The World Breaks Down" which is a music video. It's progressive (light) symphonic rock/metal opera where progressive don't go overboard nuts but instead is easy to listen to, featuring many vocalists for the parts (it's "opera") and instrumentalists from the metal scene. If you know your metal, this one might surprise you :) The Ayreon concept started in in the early 90s and each album features a lead character and support characters connected to a "shared experience". Ayreon was also an inspiration to Nightwish back in the day. This one is an absolute must for any reactor channel. Of course Ayreon is quite a deep rabbithole on its own, and I think many Nightwish fans like Ayreon too.

This song is virtually the same length in the studio version but a different singer at the time Tarja, who was much more operatic than this singer, Floor Jansen, who can sing in any style and always with empathy.
It is exactly the same length, as it uses the same recorded tracks from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and London's Metro Voices and London Young Musicians Society Childrens' Choir. As Tuomas has said, it is a shame that it has never been possible (logistically or financially) to have all those musicians on stage with them, but we live in hope that one day, maybe, they will have at least one special event which could be huge enough to cover the considerable costs involved without some kind of massive and intrusive sponsorship or ticket prices that would be out of reach for most fans.
If it happens within my reach, I'll be the scruffy dude crowd surfing in a wheelchair (top of my bucket list)!

I know the Nightwish Army is very dictatorial in their demands to reactors (Listen to THIS song, from THIS year, from THIS venue, from THIS singer, or you're doing it WRONG! Oh, and if you say anything about Floor and Nightwish that is not calling them queen, perfection, goddess, masterpiece, etc. They will destroy your channel.) But despite of what they might make you believe, Nightwish fans are not an army, we don't have a hive mind and there is no wrong way to listen to Nightwish. I've been a fan of both Nightwish and Floor (back since she was a member of After Forever) for almost 20 years and Floor's version of Ghost Love Score happens to be my favourite song, but it wasn't the first one I listened to, nor was the Wacken 2013 version the first one I heard either. You don't have to do anything that "General Bardac" tells you to do, you are allowed to prefer Tarja or Annette in any particular song, you are allowed to listen to whatever song you want, in any order you want, you are allowed to have your own individual journey.
