Those contrails add an ethereal beauty to the film; in reality aircrews hated them since it gave away your position, number, formation, and altitude- everything the AA batteries needed to mess you up real bad!
I remember finding a comment about an USAF pilot that he said when he was like 12 in the 70s he saw the b36 flying low taking off a base and his father flew one, then he became a F16 pilot
This video doesn’t to the B-36 justice. If you go visit the SAC museum in Ashland Nebraska there is a B-36 right next to a B-52 and it’s huge like a whole school bus longer and wider. It’s a very under appreciated plane. I never knew it existed until about 2 years ago

B-47 was an awesome looking plane. Used to be one parked near the highway in Seattle when I was a kid. Don't know if it is at the museum now. It was similar to the B-52 but by comparison just looked like it was built for speed.

I never saw this movie but if that was Jimmy Stewart in that one scene it is fitting he was in this movie because he was an officer in the Air Force, first starting WWII where he reached the rank of Colonel after flying well over the number of times expected by officers who flew bombers and he remained in the Air Force Reserve where he became a Brigadier General. This video got my through my first pilots license. This video does wonders lol
It always felt like being an air force pilot was my calling, but I never had my eyes open to considering this a possible career. "Feeling the heat, but never the fire". Honestly quite sad
You can do it sign up
Right?? These videos make me view the USAF with such wonder and amazement. It helps that I already took the AFOQT back during my ROTC days and stumbled my way into having a high enough pilot score haha
The U.S. military is something to behold when you actually see it live.
Love the stratojet (B-47) it's such a looker of an aircraft! Nevermind it's service record... 😭 Oh and those early in-frame takeoff assist rockets! Classy strategic aircraft.
Those contrails add an ethereal beauty to the film; in reality aircrews hated them since it gave away your position, number, formation, and altitude- everything the AA batteries needed to mess you up real bad!

Question: If the tanker was full of fuel suitable for those engines, what would be the plane's range?
@Callum Ruddy Yum Yum🤣
I never knew it existed until about 2 years ago
planes that didn't see combat are always underrated, like the a6 vigilante
That was a great place to visit. So many wonderful planes, I'm glad an old dude at a highway rest stop west of Lincon suggested I go there.
@@phantom4E2 true
The B-36 officially had no assigned name. Everyone called it "Peacemaker" anyway and the rest is history. F-111 was another one with no official name.
I think the f-111 was called " ardvark".
@@billhuber2964 u are correct, it is the most common name for said jet.
You are wrong on both, they had offical names made by the manufacturer
I saw this movie for the first time in 1955. I had forgotten the title and music. Guess I’ve been reminded...
The age before ICBM. Best time for bombers.
Same time pal, they were just another asset.
B-2 and B-52: are we a joke to you?

@@Sir_Gugharde_Wuglis no where near as prolific and dependent as the time before ICBMs. And then came the SSBNs. The true gods of the earth.
3:11 is just majestic… can’t even imagine how all those men felt back in the day…
The Air Force might be the newest branch of the American military, but it’s nonetheless the crown jewel of our armed forces. A position well deserved, given its role as the tip of the spear and the shield of the nation.
For the footage being filmed in the 1950s thats DAMN good quality!
Cinemascope always was the best format , optical lenses were the best till the late 60s , digital just hasnt got that touch
Watch 1954 Korean War film "The Bridges of Toko-Ri". The camera footage is similar to this and the flying scenes are SPECTACULAR! It ranks right up there with Top Gun, maybe even better in my opinion.
(Start of the Movie) St. Petersburg, FL. The Cardinals used to play there for pre-season. My father and I would regularly go to catch an afternoon game.
I cant believe we had this kind of complex flying machines and all without computers (or computers to weak to even call a computer)
0:03 holy crap that b-36 was booking it!
That had to have been near 350kts!!!
0:07 when you order military sized USB ports

I just beat Ace Combat 7 and this gets recommend fucking magic.
Ace Combat beat me
1:48 that is lake worth coming into view. Filmed at the old Carswell AFB, Ft Worth, TX.
B-47 elephant walk made my day... Great archival footage.
For some reason > yes, I am an aviator, love nostalgia ... yet this composition takes me further to my childhood and beyond .... meaning. AMAZING WORK! Thank you!
Looks great! Mauzer, you're killing it. Keep up the good work. Could you do a video about the Korean War?

Cinematography is one of the best qualities of this film. Just amazing high definition.
The 1950,s and 1960,s were the best quality of film making and till today. No Era has ever made films like this. Quality is not even close today
There's something special about watching this video while looking over and seeing these planes in the Air Force Museum. Majestic planes.
Mauzer my friend, your videos are pure bliss. Thank you!
This is pretty incredible! Must be the music but this seems recent to me. Much sooner than the 50's.
The way it was shot is awesome!
Always loved that Big B36!
Glorious, the B-36 is one awesome airframe, it hits all the right boxes for an ugly but endearing SOB
Ugly?! I think it's actually quite beautiful!
I have 2 1/72 models of the Peacemaker and counting, and 1 B-47 of the same scale. Such a grand golden age for aviation will go down as my second favorite age of aviation, WW2 being my number 1. But what a time to be alive though constant development of aircraft, every month a new variant of an existing plane or a brand new design big and small.

The shots of the plane in the air are magical 😍
Those almost stratosphere shots were mind-blowing to look at.There really is something majestic about those, together with nicely mixed music.
Great movie Strategic Air Command. I'm a big Jimmy Stewart fan
You know that to almost every human eye the world almost looked the same but its like every era in history had a color palette, for example, when paintings were the only “footage” we had it feels like everything was fainted.
I love aviation....and Perturbator ! What a great combo!!
B-47 was an awesome looking plane. Used to be one parked near the highway in Seattle when I was a kid. Don't know if it is at the museum now. It was similar to the B-52 but by comparison just looked like it was built for speed.
This is downright incredible as always.
That B-47 footage was incredible
When I was young, B-29s and B-36s flew right over our farm about twice a week. I could still tell them apart from their sound. I wish you could have found recordings for them.
I clicked on this video without looking accidentally. Im glad I did now :)
Fantastic work Mauzer, a top notch production! To be alive in that era and seeing all the rapid advances in technology must have been incredible. Keep up the excellent work.
Incredibly high quality footage!
It would be nice to be an immortal being that can travel time and watch humans develop and understand and feel the Zeitgeist. Today many kids don't understand what mobility was meaning for the people back in these days. And why these pictures(thanks to insane military funding) where the heralds of the future. I miss this technic enthusiasm. Also Mauzer... Good work. Your videos make me dream of past I never experienced.
All I can think of is Slim Pickens yelling yee haw
Wonderful
You're the best video editor I've ever seen on RUclips. Saw this vid, checked out a bunch of your other vids and your ability to meld music, special effects and sequence footage is amazing. I know the story you're telling in every video without one word.
Words can't describe how much I enjoyed watching this, thank you for the upload!
It is still awesome to know that the B-36 absolutely dwarfed the previous generation of Super bombers like the once 'huge' B-29 Superfortress..there is a classic colour photograph of a B-36 Peacemaker (still a strange moniker for a nuclear bomber😕..)..that is sitting parked right beside a B-29 Superfortress at a SAC airbase of the 1950's..the poor old B-29 looks just like a tiny AIRFIX model kit sitting there being totally overshadowed by this classic nuclear monster B-36 warbird. Its a wondrr the Peacemaker even flew. And then..along came the B-52 Stratfortress..now thats another aircraft tall tale an true. ✊😆
(/-\)..
Боже как же это великолепно!
As always, Mauzer never fails to amaze.
Как же круто сделано! Спасибо большое таварищ MAUZER!
Красивые пейзажи,классно снято цвета просто глаз радуют
Great music ! With the female voice it gives a little more I find. 3:20 I love this moment. Out of curiosity, are you going to remake a music on the theme of modern war like that "return to modern war"? :)
Fell in love with aviation and pursued a career in maintenance. Tfw too late to work on birds like these
Watching these videos makes me feel apart of the good ol days
ah the 50s and 60s when planes were made to have that hot world ending doom aesthetic. Surprised no one has made a flyable b-36 would be beautiful to see
Unfortunately they were all scrapped, and the like 3 that do exist have no hope of ever being flyable again
Will we get a Cold War Germany video in the near future?
He’s made tons of them.
Awesome!!!!!! Added to favorites.

The SR-71 Black Bird was so ahead of it's time.
The golden age of military aviation ! 🌟
I can't help feeling hipnotyzed watching this video
I never saw this movie but if that was Jimmy Stewart in that one scene it is fitting he was in this movie because he was an officer in the Air Force, first starting WWII where he reached the rank of Colonel after flying well over the number of times expected by officers who flew bombers and he remained in the Air Force Reserve where he became a Brigadier General. I don't know of any Hollywood actor who ever pulled that off in their lifetime.
This is just... masterpiece.I watched this so many times :D The aesthetics of the 50´s...
I am Thankful for these planes! They kept idiots on Both sides from destroying the planet Father help us in the future!
Beautiful.
