honestly depending on the environment Knee pads/gloves are far more relevant since the threat of something stopping the board is virtually everywhere and it's really unpredictable. Sometimes you'll go over a branch without a hitch but a pebble that hits it in just the wrong way will drag and catapult you off it. Meanwhile you're not gonna get nailed by a rogue 18 wheeler in the middle of a rail trail lol. Of course if you do 60 MPH freestyle in traffic it would be suicidal not to have ALL pads. a helmet can't hurt but like low-speed rail trailing and flatland skating, It would be much useful to have lower pads and no helmet vs a helmet and no lower pads, since Knees/hands are what will actually hit the ground.
William Are you serious?, a helmet is more important than anything else, if you land on your hands without gloves you would in the worst case scenario get some deep gashes, without knee pads you would most likely get a gnarly road rash, a dislocated kneecap if you’re really unlucky. but if you hit your head on the ground without a helmet a cracked skull, a serious concussion, permanent brain damage or even death is what you’re looking at. Only exception i would make is if you’re cruising, but even then i would advice a helmet. You might think you know where your body is going to land if you fall without notice, but you don’t
@@kshatriya1414 that's exactly what I meant. Like in low speed cruising/this video/beginner skating it's more relevant to have pads/gloves and no helmet than helmet and no pads. I mostly cruise in extremely low-traffic suburban roads and rail trails. I have road rashed my knees/hands plenty of times, but there is almost no opportunity to injure my head (unless a car driver just outright deliberately wants to murder me), so if I'm gonna get pads, it's gonna be knee pads/gloves.
love the concept man! Been thinking of this "teaching it to a dummy" kind of trick tip too. It's a hard video to make tho so probs for that man! Also first try... God damn hahaha
+Hans Wouters thanks! It's a series I've been wanting to make for a while now. Since most trick tips are like "do this then land it", I hope to try and go a little bit more in depth, figure out what's wrong, and really help others learn new tricks
This is some great content man!... It was hilarious when you said "What? Do I look like I'm made of money?!" Although some constructive criticism is that you take a while to talk so maybe like write an intro for every trick so that we can get an idea of what we're in for and get a sense of sturcture instead of what felt like rambling in the intro. Great work man!
I also really like that you brought someone on the video that didnt know how to slide because Iggy made you elaborate more for him and the elaboration helped me.
Hey man, love the idea - really do, but helmets and gloves are essential and should be treated as such ( at a bare minimum helmets ) this video has a lot of traction and is doing great things, such as making skating approachable again for a broader audience ( reference Prism Skateboards, blood orange - longboarding that is unapproachable but still very rad). I'd love to see you move forward with these videos but i really hope you make helmets and safety a crucial part of these videos. Keep up the great work.
I really like this concept of your tutorial video since you’re actually teaching someone how to do it instead of just talking to the camera and going over the steps. The fact that we see him ask you question beginners would have really helps.
Don’t be surprised I’m a Filipino here in Canada and almost all of my Pinoy friends are addicted to longboarding except me. A person’s race or nationality doesn’t really define his passion and interest. You can be good at snowboarding too🏂 even if you’re grew up in tropical countries
Sorry about your hand bro, that just happened to me. Takes about a week to heal. Great video! Iggy really asked the right questions in order to understand the motions!
i'm 3 days into longboarding never had to go down ever on a carve. this channel is so good in teaching! i just did about ten 50 degree downhill runs in our village and my adrenaline is peak! thank you kabayan. Long live Pinas!
I find hat my wheels grip the floor really hard on clean pavement so I always just turn really hard rather than slide--on roads with some dust or oil it’s a breeze for me- what do you suggest? Go faster?
Relatable to surfing but a little bottom turn for beginners helps with naturally letting your body go in the direction you want. Some people don’t fully commit to turning their shoulders.
When do you suggest starting to learn to slide on a long board? Because I look at you guys and I see I don’t have nearly as much experience as you all. Also, do you suggest learning in the rain? Would that make my first slide easier?
Hey man, I've been trying just to do the first slide and it's been really hard, it's making me feel like I haven't been longboarding enough even though I have been for like 3 years XD
I know this is way after you posted, but. I noticed you and the "student" (guy is better then I'll prob ever be! 😆) both got heals and toes off the edge of the board. Figured that's worth mentioning for other newbs who might miss it.
Thanks for providing such a nice video. First of all, I m a beginner of surf skating. I attempted to do the slide deceleration or the turn.. but every time I do it, I lost my balence and fell off the board. I wonder if my wheels are too new to slide.. will it be better if I tried on a rougher surface like urs in the video? Appreciated if you and anyone could answer my question. Anyways, ur videos are awesome. Keep it up!
yoo men.. (salamat) thanks this video.. i seen a lot of tutorials about slide.. your video are really good.. well explained about how to slides.. thanks men..
I'm not new to longboarding, but I've only ever lazily commuted with one. I'm currently teaching a friend the basics so in the future we can learn to slide together. I like carvy boards, sticky wheels and Paris Trucks. Could you recommend a good wheel/truck combo as well as an ideal board setup and length to get started on? I get it if they're not ideal, but I've got an extra board I don't often ride (Long Pintail) with some Paris Trucks I can re-home on a more suitable board if at all possible to save a few clam$.
Nice lesson on sliding. Too funny.you guys aren't wearing garden gloves.... what was even more Curious is that skateboarders called back side front side so heelside is back side when you're surfing. just thought that was interesting
Hey Ronnie still got motion motivated Teemo board? Love to see if you can slide and then when it starts reversing the board automatically goes in reverse in other words an electric skateboard version of this video. Never be afraid to say no to me or anyone else have a great day I think that would be really cool though
Ronnie Sarmiento yeah boy! Do you give any personal advise by video maybe? For last 1.5 months I’ve seen only 1 guy who tried to do some Trick on the longboard. Therefore I can’t ask somebody, because everybody ask me or don’t try, or watching tricktips on RUclips and give up eventually. Thx for videos, frm Russia
I was going at least 25mph and I couldn't stop lmao first time I speed wobbled and bailed and second time I actually stayed on the board calmly and pulled out of it. Now, if only I had a god damn slide down I would feel more comfortable instead of just running off my board ahah
Is it like leaning back into a chair, wiping your shoulders and dragging the momentum through your hips and the legs? or do you kick with your legs more? where does the actual rotational energy come from?
I got a freeride longboard with no tail as a first board and found myself missing the tail and so i caved and got a landyachtz peacemaker. It was great! So consider getting something with a tail if you like that stuff
Would it be wise to get a little more rigid wheels? My stock wheels I feel like are pretty grip'y. Sounds like your wheels are harder than mine. Great video tho, thanks for the tips!
I just got a new electric longboard and so far while riding it I can tell the trucks are way too tight. It goes pretty fast so I feel like they do need to be more tight than loose. Any tips?
Thanks nice video!!! How about sliding tutorial on a hill? Also tips for pushing? And riding both feet. I'm a beginner and after a session my feet hurt like hell
Hey Ronnie. You're cool Bruh. Quick question. I just got my freestyle longboard, I can ride it but not as fast as you guys do. I cant even push it comfortably coz it seems that I'll be bailing anytime. What advice you can give to me. Thank you and goodluck with your channel. ✌️🏻✌️🏻
Do you need worn out/ weathered wheels to slide, or a certain brand? I ride stiff to maintain good balance. Should loosen my trucks? I've got a 35 inch landyatchtz Evo and am despite to learn to slide
my longboard has pu wheels and they feel soft. will it be okay for me to do these techniques? wont the wheels get ripped or something? (ps. im a beginner and have no idea what im doing 🤣)
I am skating goofy and I'm used to do a 360 without a longboard against the clock so I started with backside slide, I have that pretty good but can't slide normal because it just feels weird any tips?
Hey ronnie ive had my longboard for 2 years now and i thinking of picking up another one. I plan on learning for to slide and carve what do you think a good deck length would be for being efficient at carving?
You can carve and slide on pretty much any board. I think that around a 38" - 42" length board with around a 19" - 23" wheelbase would do just fine for both
Yoooo nice video mate, I got one question, what are from best to worst wheels to slide? I think mine aren’t supposed to be for sliding (they are 75mm 83A)
I would suggest looking for a used one, to actually realize if you are into longboarding or not without wasting much money. I suggest madrid, it can be used for all styles pretty much weather you go downhill, freestyling or just cruising aroung. Hope this helps :)
what kind of wheels do you use guys ? I have 78A hardness and it is pretty hard to slide with them. As I am going to slide and push my foot, board immediately stops! Maybe my technique is not right, or wheels are not the right type. Thx for an answer.
+Kasi12zKE with softer wheels, you may have to go faster to initiate the slide. I am using harder fireball wheels in this video which I can get to slide at lower speeds
If you need help, let me know! I reply to every single comment :)
Ronnie Sarmiento hey do I need to break while I do it with my backfire g2s?
Do you have your trucks loose or tight?
Ronnie Sarmiento hi, what is the durometer for ur wheels? does it have to be harder to powerslidev
i have more of a pintail cruiser, its longer and a 6 ply, im 5'6" and 120, haveing trouble breaking into a slide
Lier
“Go faster. Carve harder. Stay Stoked” needs to be your next t-shirt
I love it!
You dont think you need it until you do... then it's to late. Always wear a helmet. Unless u drive ur car without seat belt... then its ok.
Phahahahahahahahahahahahahah
honestly depending on the environment Knee pads/gloves are far more relevant since the threat of something stopping the board is virtually everywhere and it's really unpredictable. love the concept man! Been thinking of this "teaching it to a dummy" kind of trick tip too. It's a hard video to make tho so probs for that man! Also first try... God damn hahaha

I also really like that you brought someone on the video that didnt know how to slide because Iggy made you elaborate more for him and the elaboration helped me.
You're welcome!

Bruh pls.
ur gay
Calvin is correct as always. because he's a film god
shit man, whatever I did to get on your bad side, I'm sorry man.
unless that wasn't sarcasm - then shit, kind of a compliment ahaha
smh just went cruising today without a helmet and a police officer tried to fine me for not wearing a helmet 😑
+ThatGuy that's nuts! For just cruising around??
Ronnie Sarmiento yeah! i wasnt even going downhill!
ThatGuy what the hell man
Dunno about wherever you're from but it's an Australian law that you don't need a helmet when skating, they just "recommend a helmet for your safety"
Lool, where tf do you live bro that sucks
Underrated channel, I'm two summers into longboarding and this channel has taught me more than I ever figured out on my own. Thanks, Ronnie!
+Leedleedle that's awesome man! Let me know if there are any videos I can make to help you out even more!
Martin Arvidson yes
Do u still longboarding ???
"$5 first try."
*other guy* "$10!"
"Dawg im not made of money... oh $5 each? ok"
bahhah
I really like this concept of your tutorial video since you’re actually teaching someone how to do it instead of just talking to the camera and going over the steps. The fact that we see him ask you question beginners would have really helps.
I don’t want to give him money...*implement double or nothing rule* 😂😂😂
Lmao, gotta make sure I wasnt getting played!
Finally found a filipino longboarder ☺☺☺
🇵🇭 Ayyy!
me too
Don’t be surprised I’m a Filipino here in Canada and almost all of my Pinoy friends are addicted to longboarding except me. A person’s race or nationality doesn’t really define his passion and interest. You can be good at snowboarding too🏂 even if you’re grew up in tropical countries
Pinoyyyyy🔥🔥🔥🔥🥊🥊
That moment he made it. The surprise on your face was perfect
i legit didnt think hed do it first try haha
Sorry about your hand bro, that just happened to me. Takes about a week to heal. Great video! Iggy really asked the right questions in order to understand the motions!
Thank you for the fun. Finally understand toe side and heel side. Carving is key - got it.
i'm 3 days into longboarding never had to go down ever on a carve. this channel is so good in teaching! i just did about ten 50 degree downhill runs in our village and my adrenaline is peak! thank you kabayan. Long live Pinas!
Salamat, Pare!
Nice training sesh but lgi should be wearing a lid. Lots of kids watching.
Looking back, he definitely should have.
I nailed it on both slides 👍🏼. Thank you so much
That's awesome dude! Did you manage to get some on film?
This is amazing man, you definitely should do more videos like this one!
Imma save this video. One of the best tutorial video.
Amazing channel! You explain so well and different than usual videos. "Commit to the slide" my new quote now on! BigUp
this vid is amazing. I think this is the easiest power slide tutorial. thanks very much man!
Glad it helped!
That's siccckk now I'm inspired to do the same. Thanks so much!! And great content! 👍🏾👌🏾
First try heel side was impressive! Gloves and helmets are good.
Super helpful video! This answered a lot of questions I’ve had for a while.
Good luck with sliding!
I find hat my wheels grip the floor really hard on clean pavement so I always just turn really hard rather than slide--on roads with some dust or oil it’s a breeze for me- what do you suggest? Go faster?
I used to do that too actually 😂😂😂, Yeah go faster!
Yeah wear a helmet. I ended up getting 7 Staples in my head because I was stupid and didn't wear mine
Yep 👍
I learned a little bit of your lessons so Thank you because i really wanna learn how to slide my Longboard... Thank you!!!
+Shepunchmyhands You know that's awesome, im glad to help. Dm me your slide videos @ronniesarmien2
Learning a new trick while wearing short sleeves... wow
Love it! Congrats to Ronnie and to your student!
Thank you, Samir1
You are a good teacher
wear helmets ffs
Jakobter helmets are gay
GodChurch they don't trust me
Being paralyzed also...
Old Skool Rap
There’s nothing wrong with gay but there is something wrong with being paralyzed
i guess gay people live longer and our world is gonna get taken over by gays then in the skateboard world.
2 to make it true! Hahaha me and buddies say, "make it true" as a saying. Great vid Ronnie!
- Neil
Yeah man haha! You gotta land it more than once, or you didn't really learn it!
this kid is too good!
I plan on buying an (Atom Drop Through 40inch bamboo/maple hybrid longboard ) would you recommend?
those seem decent for starters!
Relatable to surfing but a little bottom turn for beginners helps with naturally letting your body go in the direction you want. Some people don’t fully commit to turning their shoulders.

This gave me confidence to try It on my own, the next day I like practically killed myself 😂😂😂
First of all, I think it really matters what wheels you got on. What wheels you recommend for sliding?
Thanks for your Video buddy, just wondering which kind of wheels you are using for sliding
I'm not new to longboarding, but I've only ever lazily commuted with one. I'm currently teaching a friend the basics so in the future we can learn to slide together. First triiEEEEEE! The stoke shows man, keep spreading it! High Five
+Marshall Phelps yeah dude, it was pretty sick! Just tryna spread the stoke on all boards all over the world!
Going to give that ago looks great .What durometer wheels you using? Must be pretty hard I guess. Cheers
does wheel type or bearings matter? :x
Very helpful video i hope to learn.
Crush the like button if you wanna see collaboration of Hans n Ronnie
That would be so dope! STAY STOKED, BRO!
Ronnie Sarmiento yeah boy! Do you give any personal advise by video maybe? For last 1.5 months I’ve seen only 1 guy who tried to do some

oh I see, the carve on the board builds potential energy.
I've been skating for a while and just subbed. Any suggestion for which longboard I should get?
+CryptiCNoodleZ I highly recommend checking out anonymous longboards 😁
CryptiCNoodleZ make one
3GM Lots of stuff in a longboard, ain't just a piece of wood.
...Whatever rocks your dokken
I got a freeride longboard with no tail as a first board and found myself missing the tail and so i caved and got a landyachtz peacemaker. It was great! So consider getting something with a tail if you like that stuff

"I dont need a helmet" oof... Now you do 😂 but great tutorial, that helped thanks!
hahaha crushing his joy when he does it man haha high five that mo fo!!
This helped me a lot thanks!
I just got a new electric longboard and so far while riding it I can tell the trucks are way too tight. It goes pretty fast so I feel like they do need to be more tight than loose. Any tips?
About how fast were they going? I'm trying to learn slides myself.
In case you haven't read this today, I'm proud of you Bro.
what kind of longboard and wheels to do that slide? what are some good boards that aren't too expensive and aren't cheap either.
Hey guys tomorrow morning I’m gonna send it and try this out wish me luck any other tips would be appreciated
Is it the same technique to slide to reduce speed when going downhill? Like if you wanted to brake a little before turning without ending up switch
Oh that fall at 4:22 was exactly what happen to me yesterday
is sliding possible on all wheels? mine seem very grippy and just wondering if i should even try
Mellakka Games yeh same with mine, imma try and find out
There are different hardness on wheels 75a are your typical grippy longboard wheels. 85a and higher are more for slidi ng
Get a higher durometer.
hey dude tnx for the video, just one question how tight do the trucks need to be ?
Goodvideo man!
Thanks nice video!!! How about sliding tutorial on a hill? Also tips for pushing? And riding both feet. I'm a beginner and after a session my feet hurt like hell
Great video! Thanks you very much
Ronnie is sliding possible on a cruiser skateboard
Yes it is
how do you push your board
like do you push it on the back edge of the board when your leaning,
or do you push it in the middle of the board
Hey Ronnie. You're cool Bruh. Quick question. I just got my freestyle longboard, I can ride it but not as fast as you guys do. I cant even push it comfortably coz it seems that I'll be bailing anytime. What advice you can give to me. Thank you and goodluck with your channel. ✌️🏻✌️🏻
are there certain wheels that are better than others for carving?
Gabe Louridot Yes their are. Search for some downhill wheels they’re great for sliding.
Atakz Capra thanks👍🏼
Is that the anonymous feather? I was thinking about getting that one!! What wheels and trucks do you recommend for it?
+abby mcclure I love it. I recommend Paris trucks, and for wheels, pretty much anything works
thank you!!! and love your channel btw!
+abby mcclure thank you so, so much! :)
Do you need worn out/ weathered wheels to slide, or a certain brand?
I ride stiff to maintain good balance. Should loosen my trucks?
I've got a 35 inch landyatchtz Evo and am despite to learn to slide
Harder worn out wheels break out into the slide easier, but you can do it on any wheel
on the first try!? yo I give your bro props for that 👌😎🔥
+thomas Chambers he's too good! Haha
my longboard has pu wheels and they feel soft. will it be okay for me to do these techniques? wont the wheels get ripped or something? (ps. im a beginner and have no idea what im doing 🤣)
Hey Ronnie, have you tried sliding on a backfire?
Yeah, I slid it in my backfire video
Would be nice with some setup-specs before u start :)
Like wheel size and hardness
+Alex Buck setup is in the description. I changed the usual wheels. For this video, I believe we are using some really old 82a fireball incendos
4:16 wtf reverse slide hahahaha
You the best!!!
Do the wheels matter? I feel like mine are so soft or the shape isnt right so that slides arent possible
Does it matter what wheels you’re using? I’ve got a long board but my wheels are a bit skinnier than the ones he’s using. Do they have much effect?
less area of contact on the ground = less grip, easier to break. It's just practice
Bro I’m ready to get one tomorrow and practice that
I am skating goofy and I'm used to do a 360 without a longboard against the clock so I started with backside slide, I have that pretty good but can't slide normal because it just feels weird any tips?
Not a bad teacher in the end :)
Hey ronnie ive had my longboard for 2 years now and i thinking of picking up another one. I plan on learning for to slide and carve what do you think a good deck length would be for being efficient at carving?
You can carve and slide on pretty much any board. I think that around a 38" - 42" length board with around a 19" - 23" wheelbase would do just fine for both
Thanks ronnie
No problem! Good luck learning everything on your board!
How hard must ur wheels be tho if u learn to slide cause i feel like my wheels may be too soft and would not slide😕
Can you also slide as a means to stop? Just go halfway and hold?
What are the best wheels to go sliding?
Yoooo nice video mate, I got one question, what are from best to worst wheels to slide? I think mine aren’t supposed to be for sliding (they are 75mm 83A)
Philip Lorber Any wheels can be slided.. you just got to go fast and commit
Great video
Is this possible with a sector nine sidewinder? Would it be easier or harder on a sidewinder?
Ronnie a decent longboard for a newbie? Budget under 120 dollars. Thx, you’re great
I would suggest looking for a used one, to actually realize if you are into longboarding or not without wasting much money. I suggest madrid, it can be used for all styles pretty much weather you go downhill, freestyling or just cruising aroung. Hope this helps :)
Does this work with all longboards or do you need specific wheels / tracks
Did my first slide the other day, I fell as well 🤣
omg i need this vids.. new subscriber here bro.. keep it up... :D
+mark bantawig that's great to hear! What trick would you like a video for?
Some other slides, please!!!
Ronnie Sarmiento bro does my trucks tightness makes this hard? this gonna be my 1st trick bro.. hehehehe.
+mark bantawig I find it easier with looser trucks. It helps with the big carve before initiating the slide
what kind of wheels do you use guys ? I have 78A hardness and it is pretty hard to slide with them. As I am going to slide and push my foot, board immediately stops! Maybe my technique is not right, or wheels are not the right type. Thx for an answer.
+Kasi12zKE with softer wheels, you may have to go faster to initiate the slide. I am using harder fireball wheels in this video which I can get to slide at lower speeds
For a deeper carve, do you move both of your heels slightly off the edge of the board?
yes, lean real hard
What are the best wheels for Downhill, cruising, sliding?
Anything made by abec 11 are pretty rad! You ever heard of em?
Thanks again
No problem bro! Let me know if you need more help. Also check out my playlist of longboard trick tips!
