    The best guitar if you want a Les Paul sound and a Strat sound is one with Fishman Fluence Open Core Classic Humbuckers. I have a set in my ESP Deluxe 1000T and when I was testing that out upstairs in the guitar shop the guys downstairs wondered which Strat I had picked up.

    Amazing, firstly I got it right for once and secondly because the PRS performed so convincingly in the single coil mode. Many manufacturers offer the option but few produce a convincing result.

    All I noticed was perhaps dip in volume at one point when there was a switch in guitars. I am not sure however. I think you probably heard it as you played it. On a first listen I am too busy enjoying the music to really concentrate on the exact tone. If that makes sense? On watching the video I could hear it, but it's not a dealbreaker.

      Same here, the first time I was actually cooking up some soup in the kitchen, so other than the Very Stratty part, the rest was just good happy guitar sounds that I really enjoyed. Even as I rewatched, it was like my mind or eyes or ears, or all at the same time were messing with me.

    Hi John, for me the jury is still out on that PRS SE guitar. I can see it would have it's place as a good work horse guitar for a guitarist in a covers band but I've heard PRS guitars described as nice but a little bit "vanilla" and to be honest I think I agree.

  • @jimmyjames2022

    Raucous and fun A/B jam! The SE CE Standard is pretty versatile, I'm warming up to the 85/15S pups. They're not vintage but they take gain/OD really well. SE CE on sale for $670CAD in Canada, lower than the Xmas factory sale. But sold out in Canada.

    Great instrumental song. In a mix, there really isn’t much in it and most people are not cork sniffing when listening. Of course, maybe the different feel of the guitars may help us to play different stuff. I always notice that I play differently when I pick up my Tele or my LP. Great comparison with tasty playing.

    Well john that was nice..i actually have all 3 of those guitars except my strat is a squier vintage mod hss from about 2013...ive run all 3 through my special edition blues jr..and a Boss OD pedal..the strat and the prs feel similar in the hand the tribute is perfect for my hands..all 3 handle distortion..all 3 are more than adequate on the clean..i believe Paul R Smith is on to something...im not a coil tap fan but on this PRS it does a fine job...i will eventually get an American one...ive tried them they're wonderful..if versatility is what you're after and dont want or need to spend a fortune try and find a ce se prs satin..mine's red🤙

    If we were concerned about tone and nothing more the you could keep the PRS and bin the others, But we all know its so much more than that, Feel weight, Neck profile and all the rest, So much so I got a holld of basically every basic type of guitar there is from Tele to a Randy Rhoads flying V (even a red special) funny thing is I have more PRS types than any other. Odd that...

    Great video sir ! Big question though whether the SE 24 CE which is only slightly more expensive than the satin version in the video ( looks better to me ) and has a maple cap gives better Gibson or Fender style tones than the satin version. Meanwhile a ton of viewers go hunting for a 2017 Squier Strat 😀

    • @JRobsonGuitar
      @JRobsonGuitar  Месяц назад +2

      It comes down to looks really. I prefer the plain look of this one to the slightly more expensive version with the maple veneer. That said, I recently played the full fat USA version & I covet that guitar greatly 👍

    • @colinfalcon-original
      @colinfalcon-original Месяц назад

      The Squier Standard Strat is a veritable dark horse. Full thickness body, 42mm nut and Alnico V PUPs, and becoming harder & harder to get hold of as they're no longer made. I'm so glad I have 3 of them 😁

    • @daviddalziel884
      @daviddalziel884 Месяц назад

      @@JRobsonGuitar I think though that PRS saw the reviews of the Satin finish and had to pull the price down on the maple cap version as they thought they’d never shift them up against the satin one which has the same pickups and neck . Remember the Silver Sky SE launched at £900 -never a £900 guitar and now they’re around £600 which is about right . I’ve got one and for me it kills the Player Strat at around the same price . I like the big headstock Strats , mate had a 74 from new , never played a better one 👍

      @@daviddalziel884 Nope. The Squier Standard Strats had the big CBS era headstocks as well. The fit & finish is well above the Squier Affinities & Bullets of the same era, hence why I only swapped out the tuners & string trees, and of course John's playing makes it sing

    The only really notable difference is in my opinion the 'out of phase' strat tone. I guess that the PRS would be closer for a 'neck single coil' tone.

  • @fretworkband3204
    @fretworkband3204 Месяц назад

    To my ears it seems that the BluAmp and the NUX Horseman really brings out the goods in all 3 guitars but especially the LP and Strat. The PRS is a reasonable facsimile, and if you’re going to use it to get dual tones, it makes sense. But otherwise, that LP rocks, and when you cranked it, especially on that first riff (if you haven’t put that on one of your albums, then you gotta do it!) you have to use the true LP. How you get that tone with 3 fingers is a gift that fortunately continues to give. 🎸
