Shell Scenarios - Imagining the future

Anticipating what will happen next year in our rapidly changing world is a challenge. So how can we know what to expect in 10, 25 and even 50 years ahead?
That is what the Shell Scenarios team has been working to do since the early 1970s.
They imagine future, plausible scenarios of how the world might evolve and how societies will respond to changing energy needs in ever more volatile times.
This short film looks at how scenario planning has evolved over 40 years to become today a vital strategic planning tool within and outside of the company. The Shell scenarios team has built up a strong understanding of the many critical factors influencing the business environment. They recognise the complex nature of the modern world and the challenges arising from the inter-dependent relationship with energy, water and food resources.
