I went to the July 22 show at the Long Beach Arena. Still, by far, the heaviest band I’ve ever seen live. Troy’s bass amps had all the hairs on my arms standing up. Incredible experience.
Sean Patrick lol this song is totally fucking insane. The whole middle section is out of control, someone who’s never listened to metal would probably have a nervous breakdown lol
I can't believe there's only one other comment about Brent fucking up the lyrics of the first verse. He kinda mixed the first and second, which I personally think is cool....good to know they're still human. Haha
I just have to quote two comments I've read recently according Mastodon. One said thei're not good live and the other called them uncreative (!). I was just like "From which Mastodon are we talking about??". I enjoy watching performances like that, awesome
Agreed. I suppose because Crack the Skye is more intricate musically and vocally demanding at the same time. They've picked up their game a lot since its release, though. When they play "Crack the Skye" live now they absolutely dominate it.
@screamcarl Blood Mountain is awesome, but Crack the Skye is such a transcendent work of art. Mastodon really evolved between these two albums. But hey, it's all so damned good, so rock on bro!
Is no one gonna talk about the Holy Mountain clip they played before the song? I love that movie but with no context some random audio about killing natives with a white cross might have sent some mixed messages.
This was a time when random shit like that was cool for no reason. Now people are trained to hear and think of it like you do. But its still just a metal thing to have play before a song. Dont let others tell you what to think
It’s something metal bands do to freak the audiences out. Sometimes they play movie clips, or conspiracy theory snipets. It was a big thing back in the day to play these types of spooky clips before the bands played their songs. Sort of sets the mood.
I bet Brann could survive the zombie apocalypse with just his drumsticks
Absolutely phenomenal live performance. There aren't many bands out there, to me, that can touch these guys when it comes to putting on a show.
Lol, Troy's gf is giving him a haircut during the interview !

Brann dailor fuckin kills it! Unreal.
brent's leadpart is SOOOOO awesome!
First time seeing somebody have their hair cut during an interview.. metal.
Brent and Silent Troy
There's nothing funnier than playing this song to a non-metal fan and watching their expression.

Vocals sound great on this. Epic all around
Legion of skanks cmon

it's fkin madness just to play this song alone
a jazz hed told me it wasnt.
either troy is the sober one or he is the highest one just kicking back analizing all the trolling from hia band mates without cracking a smile lol
this was just before he starts squealing like a dying cat in every other live video from 2007 onwards
dude he had a cold...hahaha
watch 2014 pink pop, he does a great job
Vegoose 2007, big time.

Ol' Dirty Bhinds
Troy just looking so confused and not saying a single word in the intro 😂😂😂 I’m cryin lmfaooooooo
My man was tripping balls. I don't think he blinked once through the interview.

Damn, just how do they manage to make 4 minutes sound like a long, epic journey?
@screamcarl Blood Mountain is awesome, but Crack the Skye is such a transcendent work of art. Mastodon really evolved between these two albums. But hey, it's all so damned good, so rock on bro!
ahhh, back when Brent still had half of a voice.
kyle benson go listen to his performance at the K pit. His vocals made a total come back!
His voice is honestly sounding better these days, sounded solid when I saw them a few days ago.
He got his voice back. I think he's taking better care of it now
North Korea have the nuclear missiles , USA have Brann drumsticks...
What a fucking song
i always thought there was windex in albums

Troy has the coolest hair ever in this video.
Holy shit, this song kicks so much ass, it's ridiculous. Awesome, I think is the correct word to use.
Intro is perfection 😂
i wish they play pendulous skin live.do they? :(
They have now, for the very first time!!
They just played it for their acoustic show.

They're as funny as a root canal, but I like their music.
1 and 2... 12 lol
lold so hard at the racist accent at 0:32
Goddamn this band use to be so good……
Well, to be fair, he had a throat infection that ruined his already awful live voice lol
The vocals are so bad... so incredibly cringy...
Dude what, it’s just metal vocals sounds kickass
Colton Frogge So all metal vocals have to sound good?
sliehgtofhand no but it’s just standard metal vocals you must not listen to a lot of metal if it doesn’t sound good to you
@@shillian4770 I listen to tons of metal. There are no 'standard metal vocals'.
