- I make two crocheted market bags, one out of 100% cotton, one out of 100% acrylic. Then I test them out. How do they stack up?
For those of you interested in crocheting a similar bag for yourself, here is a link to download a free PDF of my pattern for these bags!

Thank you for comparing the yarn . because a lot of people would say use cotton but it can be expensive so using acrylic is another good way thank you
Thank you! I am making mine with acrylic because I have a lot of it and some are colors given to me that I don't particularly like for any project. This will work and I appreciate your experiment and video of the results.
This is cool. The cotton looks exactly like when i make plarn mesh bags. Pretty! Cotton is nice, but expensive. Id maybe make one as a gift to mom, but tjats about it lol
That rainbow color yarn turned into a gorgeous bag👍🏻
Your voice is so relaxing! And thanks for doing this- i only own acrylic yarn at the moment and I wanted to make a market bag! I think I will go ahead and do it!
So happy to hear that. Go ahead, and have fun!
Thank you for doing that comparison. I have alot of acrylic yarn but was not sure if it could be used for market bags. You have answered the question. Yes. great video.
Thank you so much for doing this experiment. I am a relatively new to crochet and doing market bags is something I want to try. I don't want to have to buy new yarn so learning that they both work is helpful. Thank you.
I'm so happy to help. Enjoy your project!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been wondering how using acrylic yarn would hold up for these bags!
I’d like to know if it’s true that cotton will hold more weight than the acrylic. I’ve always heard cotton is stronger
Wow!! Thank you so much for doing this experiment. This was soooo helpful!! 😄 I had been wondering this very thing. Thanks again!
It's very useful information.. Thank you! 😍
I appreciate your sharing that test with us....sooo interesting. .......very informative.
Thank you! The cotton vs. acrylic battle is so frustrating.
Thanks for this video I been wondering about how this would work out.
Very interesting.
love this video so glad it came up in my feed Thanks for the comparison
Beautiful, I'm formative, concise 🧶tutorial. The sun 🌞will not deteriorate the acrylic as the cotton will.If you are making something for patio, outdoors, in direct sunlight, etc.
Thank you and I just printed out the pattern. I think I’m going to try the acrylic. 😊
Fantastic. Have fun!
When you wash the acrylic its honna stretch and relax bigger.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
You are so right , Thank you
Tq for sharing the comparison. Ever thought of using homemade/ manual plastic recycled yarn?
How did these bags wear? Which one lasted longer? Great video, just what I was looking for. x
I'm getting close to being able to finish up the second installment I'd planned. I unexpectedly had to completely switch video editing software and have been learning a whole new way of doing things, so it's taken longer than expected. But (spoiler alert) they've both been doing a great job for me so far. :-) The more detailed video should be up soon!
@@melissafrisella7204 Thank you for your reply. I'll keep a look out. X
Thank you! So glad I found this!!
Thanks, that is extremely helpful.
Hi mellisa! This pattern is the one that im looking for. But do u mind if i ask u something? Coz i'm lil bit confused. In 2nd row, you chain 3,dc in same st, and continue 2dc in a st. And before you sl st on the top of 3 chain, how many dc's do you have ? I repeat it for about 3times, and in the end i got 26 dc's. I'm curious is it my mistake, or it is 26 dc's indeed (before you sl st in top of it)? Thanks anw, 💕💕❤️❤️
*I mean of, 2 dc in every st around
@@oditaukulele Hi, I'm happy to help to try to clear it up. For this pattern, all of your beginning chain 3’s will count as your first DC of the round. So at the end of the first round, you’ll have your original chain three, plus 11 actual DC’s. You will slip stitch into the top of that chain 3. From there, you’ll make the chain 3 that will begin round two, and place your first actual DC into the same space where that chain 3 originates. This should leave the 11 actual DC’s from that first round, and when you make 2 DC’s in each of those, it should make 24 stitches total-23 actual DC’s, and your first chain 3 which counts as the 24th. I hope this helps!
@@melissafrisella7204 aahh see, so the first chain 3 is part of 24 dc's? So that one dc in the same place as the chain 3, it makes first set of 2 dc's in every st?
Do you have a pattern link for this please. Tfs.
I just winged these and didn't write the pattern down. I thought afterwards that I should've, because I liked how they turned out. I keep meaning to sit down and look at them, then try to recreate and write it down as I go. When I do that, I will put a link here for you!
Melissa Frisella That would be awesome. I’ve started another pattern and am not crazy about pattern. I’ll do this one and maybe I can wing it. Ha. Thank you and this market bag is great. You’d get a lot of hits if you had a pattern. Thanks! Happy Holidays!
Thank you for the advice, and I'm glad you like the bag! Idid write it up today, and will be making it available in the next day or so. Happy Holidays to you, as well!
Melissa Frisella I cant wait. I have my yarn ready! Thanks so much.
U didn't show how you put the handles on
Acrylic looks soooooo much better.
