As a Jays fan Russell's definitely one of my favorite players on the team. Rawlings makes great catchers mitts. I can testify to their durability. I've still got my Rawlings Lance Parrish catchers mitt from when I was a kid 25 years ago, and I'd use it no problem tomorrow.
He should have the gold patch on his glove too! Great video

I would have to say that Russell Martin is the Yogi Berra of this generation 9 post seasons inn11 years is incredible.

I have used a Rawlings glove for the last 16 years. Many laces, many coats of oil, a few pad replacements, and many amazing memories. It's still in perfect condition and people always comment on it because it has an amazing stiff round shape and soft broke in look.
Matt Plasse Rawlings gloves get better with use for sure. I bet Tulo's glove felt AMAZING, up until it broke beyond repair.

Does anyone know the model type of catchers gear he is using
the only main difference with leather colour is when the leather requires heavy dying. Heart of the Hide leather comes in all colourways that Rawlings has, as the leather is quite thick and dense that its performance isnt too affected by colour, but Pro Preferred leather has very select colours as they dont affect the leather performance when dying or crafting the glove
this would also explain why he hasnt noticed a performance difference from the colours of his gloves as he uses pro preferred and mostly natural colours you dont have to dye the leather of to get
