I played the trial yesterday, almost won the AFC title on Face of the Franchise until the trial expired lol. I hated the last few Maddens so I was surprised that I was genuinely loving this one. It's really not as bad as people are saying but it's not without its flaws either. The story on FotF pretty much peaks at around week 12 from what I saw. And the player-locked camera can mess up some passes that you never see coming your way unless you call for them. But I was impressed at how accessible it felt for me being that I'm more of a casual fan. Skills-based passing is a much welcome addition to the formula and for the first time since I started playing these games, I felt like I could actually make catches if I was playing as a receiver. I plan on buying it but when the price goes down or if it ends up on EA play.
I agree, I was actually enjoying this one whereas the last few I just didn't make it beyond the trial. FotF I haven't bothered as it's just another version of the same thing in the past. At least you start as a rookie in the NFL rather than playing through high school, so that's a bonus. The skilled based passing is a good addition, but none of which was added I would say is worth the price tag yet. Def buy on sale or play when it hits EA Play after the season.
@@BusyDadGaming FotF this year actually has you playing as an overlooked veteran playing on a 1 year prove yourself contract, which I kinda like better than the rookie story. What I liked this year is that you can pretty much sign with any team you want but each team shows you how much they need you depending on the position you play and how well you fit into their scheme. I ended up signing with Houston as a running back; I didn't want to but I did go on an 11 game win streak with them before taking an L from Cleveland and Deshaun Watson of all teams lol.
That does sound better from a starting standpoint. After playing the first few, I haven't seen any real progression of the mode since. At least you enjoyed it other than losing to Cleveland of all teams, lol.

I've enjoyed it and I've been playing Madden since Madden 98. You can not and will not please everyone, maybe EA can't do everything that everyone wants right now; and opinions vary. They are headed back in the right direction (to me), but maybe not enough for some to feel like they should drop $60 or $70 on it.

I've been playing Madden since it came out, they are going in a "I don't give a sh*t about the customer" direction, and are very blatant about it. I can't believe I fell for it again this year. I can't wait until EA had their contract up and 2K comes in with a beast of a Football Simulation Game. In the meantime, back to Rainbow 6 Lol. P.S. I will say though, the old school match-up with the legends at the beginning of the game was dope af.

Yeah don't hold your breath. I wouldn't. I've been waiting for the day 2K returns to making a full licensed NFL SIM. I haven't bought a Madden at release since 2007 with Madden 08 on the 360. About a year ago I ended my Madden hiatus, checked out what I missed on the 360/PS3 and bought a few iterations I missed on that gen, to find they had only made slight improvements and only made the game worth playing at the end of that console generation, by adding in a buggy physics based game in Madden 13, and polished it up a bit by Madden 25. Other than that I would've killed to see what 2K would have done since 2005.
Worst $70 I ever spent game is complete ass. Passing is terrible, game speed is slower, dbs out jump wr every time. You get touched running the ball with your rn you go down instantly but qbs breaking tackles.
I highly disagree With The Review IMO but most of the good features you mentioned are all recycled from previous Madden The “Field pass” Was Just Called “precision pass” in madden 12 franchise Has Nowhere near the same amount of depth That It Had in previous Madden It’s Like They Take Really small baby steps Year after year , there’s no reason i should have to rely on older Madden’s to have a good football experience
I totally agree. For the most part, taking things away and then giving them back is pretty much EA at this point. Previous Madden's were more feature complete than what we get today, which is unfortunate. For most, def wait until it hits EA Play as part of Game Pass. I wouldn't spend money on the game if it weren't for the review.

I partially agree and disagree. Animations, graphics, assets, etc., do all look the same (there are changes, but I don't think most care). The bigger changes happen in the gameplay with fieldsense and to a lesser degree, the 360 movement. You notice both a ton when you play the running game and it does make, in my opinion, the game feel better. It's not a matter of being afraid to say something, I'm enjoying the game thus far, but I still wouldn't recommend someone go buy it just for these features. Wait until EA Play and then play it, or get the 10 hour free trial. Either way, it's nice to see fundamental changes to the game.
All I’m saying is if you’re in the market to buy Madden it’s the best one in a long time, while it’s still not perfect and it’s definitely still Madden if you’re gonna buy one this is the one I’d get price or not. If someone is unwilling to spend $70 I totally get that but it’s definitely the best one I’ve played in a while, hands down. From a dad gaming perspective I just get frustrated with madden reviews because they always sound like the game is improved or fun and then I get it and play for a week if that. I'd say the gameplay feels good. There are still cheese plays in the game. The new passing system takes a bit to get used to, but makes the game a bit more refined.

I ran into some of those issues and not others. There's def a ways to go, but I liked the pacing and feel of the gameplay this time around.

Yeah, Field sense isn't part of last gen games. Getting Madden 23 on last-gen consoles is basically getting Madden 22 with a roster update.
