  • This week, we had 150mm of rain (6 inches) and the roof came off anyway. We are faced with a mountain of old wood to move and find more strange items.

Here in NZ that building would be encased in scaffolding costing $1500 a week, plastic sheeting, and red cones. Hard hats and harnessing would be required for those on the roof, and OSH reps would be inspecting. One certainly wouldn't work in the rain. Too dangerous. I love these guys.

You will have firewood to get you through the rest of the decade!
It's great to see that your build team is well staffed. There are enough workers to get thru the roof demo as quickly as they did.

Well it looks like you definitely have enough supplies for any animal enclosures. 😂
Those large logs could be cut with the chain saw down the middle to create decent berms.
There are more powerful magnets known as earth magnets, they're good but might be expensive.
Alternative are electromagnets which auto wreckers often use. Unfortunately those require power.
I can't believe the size of that hole where the wall collapsed, it's huge.
Onward, hopefully these next few weeks are the messiest.
Thank you for letting us watch how older buildings like this have been constructed, usually all by hand before.
