I don’t know if you noticed but Kevin is also beatboxing as well as playing the cello! (Cello- boxing!) They’re all so talented, and there are no other instruments.
In this song, Kevin does percussion with his mouth as he is playing his cello which just amazes me. A couple of my favorite Pentatonix Christmas songs are "Mary Did You Know?" and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" but you can't really go wrong with any that you choose. They did get a grammy award for "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" several years ago (this song has no words) so you may want to experience that one as well.
They do all the sounds with their mouth and bodies. You should watch Pentatonix- The Recording of Evergreen. It will show you how they work. Also you should check out some of Kevin Olusola solo work. "Down" (Marian Hill KOver) youll see him show his talent, beatbox, sing and Play his Cello. They are all so good. Love them.
Sing and can't hold us give a more upbeat happy vibe, you should check those out. Drummer boy, Carol of the bells, silent night, God rest ye merry gentlemen, Mr Grinch, 12 days of Christmas and so much more. You can't go wrong with anything Pentatonix does.
Look up Pentatonix Symphony Number 5 Beethoven Oakland November 17th it's their concert that they just did last night and Kevin is doing a solo part so you'll get to see him live.
The only instrument that is used is Kevin's cello (pronounced chello). Matt's rich, warm bass is what fills out the instrument sounds. You have a TON of their Christmas music to choose from. I'd start with Carol of the Bells, Silent Night, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, The Prayer, Prayers for this World. That should guve you a nice cross section of styles. Thanks for reacting to this.
Christmas music of,PTX. O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, the entire Evergreen Album. All music is Kevin. He’s playing his cello and beatboxing. Matt is singing bass notes
Yes, that's Kevin playing his cello (however you want to pronounce it), which he named Beyoncé after one of his favorite pop singers. He's also beatboxing at the same time, so he's "cello-boxing". But that is the only instrument being used - everything else is straight a cappella. For example, from 6:37 to 6:47, there are low tones being produced that sound a LOT like Kevin playing the cello, but it's actually Matt singing his bass line. I thought it was Kevin the first few times I watched the video, but he's stopped playing and it's all Matt. If you watch Dancing On My Own, a video they made after Avi left and before Matt joined the group (so only 4 members temporarily), Kevin again plays the cello and makes it sound just like a bass singer for the entire song.
That part where Mitch is doing the rising crescendo, all of them are doing it....Scott and Kirstie are singing with Mitch, Kevin is playing and singing and Matt is doing the thumping bass. Since the camera is only focused on Mitch and Matt, you can't see the others singing with him. But when they do it live, you can see Scott and Kirstie doing their bit with Mitch.
Kevin is so talented. I could never play a cello cuz i couldn't coordinate my right and left hands . Then he throws in all the other instruments with his mouth. Amazing
Love your reactions to PENTONIX! Cello is pronounced (CHel-o). I don't understand why either but it's one of those English "things"! 😅 Christmas songs to look into... I SAW THREE SHIPS LITTLE DRUMMER BOY JOYFUL JOYFUL GOD REST YE MERRY GNTLEMEN OH COME ALL YE FAITHFUL and so many more!🙂
They do sometimes use background instrumentals. Especially on their new Holidays Around the World Christmas album. However, on this song it is just their voices and the cello. (There is probably some layering, etc involved.)
The cello is pronounced "che-lo" because it's Italian. Kevin is a very accomplished cellist. None of the group is imitating any musical instruments except, of course, Kevin, who is beatboxing as he plays his cello. If they were, they would've shown them doing so.
If they use an instrument you'll see them! You should really watch some of Kevin's solo work-Look for KO channel- I'd start with Down. You'll really get a better idea of what he's really capable of! He does cello(sounds like CHello)boxing!
I know other people have tried to correct your pronunciation of cello, but I thought this might help more, it's chello like child, not a an s sound. But you say it how you want to.

Remember, they don't do covers... they do upgrades!
I wil remember that ☺
They are Grammy nominated for their album Evergreen

I love the reactions. Its nice to see the enjoyment and excitement on your face as you hear the best group around.
😊 thank you

Carol of the bells you won't believe because Mitch doesn't breathe forever lol. You're a mean one Mr Grinch is a Matt lead and so much fun.
Chat low(cello)😊❤️
Kevin is beatboxing while playing the cello, which is named Beyonce.
Matt is doing the bass especially during Mitch's part. He sounds so amazing. Just found you. Subscribed for more.

and so many more!🙂
The reason the "C" is pronounced like a "ch" is because it's Italian, not English.
They do sometimes use background instrumentals. Especially on their new Holidays Around the World Christmas album. However, on this song it is just their voices and the cello. (There is probably some layering, etc involved.)
This is all a cappella, Matt’s bass and Kevin’s celloboxing is all they need.
Recommend their cover of Havana.
You should do "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" first, for Christmas. Awsome arrangement for that one.
The cello is pronounced "che-lo" because it's Italian. Kevin is a very accomplished cellist. None of the group is imitating any musical instruments except, of course, Kevin, who is beatboxing as he plays his cello. If they were, they would've shown them doing so.
New sub here. Really like your reactions, keep up the good work!

Very well noted..honestly I thought that was a violin..until you corrected me..anyways thr pronunciation had been well noted..thanks for looking out
Not a Christmas song but a fabulous cover of a song from Broadway hit Dear Evan Hanson called "Waving Through A Window" Please!
Just a reminder that cello is pronounced "chello" like "church"
Thanks for the clarification 😊
