They are very easy to replace and I ended up buying Hall effect sticks from gulikit and so far they have been pretty decent. You may want to replace the refurb deck with them and see if you like the difference.

    Refurbished usually never meant that something is actually replaced. Just general cleaning and software update and checking if everything is working. Heck even smarthphone batteries arent replaced until they are under 80% of their original capacity. You might be right that they saw it as not worth to replace the joysticks. If you are techsavy enough to replace SSD I would recommend absolutely to buy refurbished ones, espacially 64gb and then replace and add 50-100 dollar worth ssd.

    Replacing the sticks does take 1 more step Tham what you mentioned. You have to unsolder the touch sensitive wire for the cap, and transfer it to your new module. Meaning, they would have to do soldering. Yes they make ones with new caps, and yes that would cost money. I'm purely referring to GameStop, what they would most likely do, and the fact you got cruddy sticks.

    Well you can tell this one was definitely used for FPS games. That's why the right trigger and right thumbstick are more worn down. Those pry marks are just someone straight up not knowing what they're doing. You're supposed to use the curve of the triggers as the entry point for opening it, and then slide the plastic pick from there. Definitely wouldn't ever get anything refurbished from Gamestop.

  • @rinkincaid5470
    @rinkincaid5470 Год назад +3

    I have a very good idea why the right trigger is so much looser than the left trigger. I looked at my PS4 controller and my right trigger is also pretty loose. I play a lot of games that I mash the right trigger button. I bet that's likely what happened to the right trigger on the steam deck; the first owner button mashed. Probably a melee game
    Edit: my X button also has more give than the other buttons. I also mash X in alot of games 😂

    I opened my 64GB Deck twice, first for a 256GB nvme SSD, then for a 1TB, and if it wasn't for the storage space, no one could tell it was ever opened, even the aluminum tape inside was carefully lifted then placed back, and smooth it out any light wrinkles. And I'm no electronics wizard, just very picky I guess lol

    I have to drive 3 hours to get a refurbished deck from gamestop, lol. Me and the wife are taking a trip that way in October, so hopefully, they still sell them then. Seems like valve never has refurbished models.

    1:30 - Whoa whoa WHOA!! HOLD UP!! GameStop has been around for almost FORTY YEARS now?! 🤯
    Hot dang, I always thought it was younger than Funcoland AND EB Games, but it’s practically as old as those two?! Man that’s one heck of an interesting piece of trivia there, Speaking as someone that’s been shopping there for nearly HALF that time now!

    Did they take a freaking flat head screwdriver to the side? Holy crap. You can use a plastic tool and get it open in seconds with no marks. That's atrocious.

    Everything is so easy to replace. I wish Gamestop actually "refurbished" their products and not just open and close them and called it a day.

    For the steam deck pro xl plus duo whatever they better go old school gpu and put the valve head on the box
    And it better be like those holographic cards that change images as you move it so i can feel the horror of playing valve games as a child lol
