It's odd how many parallels there are between Bumblebee and Starscream, yet we barely see them interact. Even here, Bumblebee is just a figment of Starscream's imagination.
God this made me feel so bad for him. He had everything he wanted, yet because of how self-destructive he is and views himself, he can’t be as good a leader as he can.

The thing is, and this is very strange indeed, is that whenever Starscream gets a hold on the Matrix of Leadership, accident or on purpose, the Matrix reacts when it did not on Megatron. So it shows that he can be a good leader. It's just his self-doubt that Megatron beat him into that make him question himself far too many times.
Not really starscream has been a back stabber since his days on cybertron,he always wanted to over throw Megatron because he thought he'd make a better leader ,between him skywarp and thundercracker starscream was the least trusted of the three jet clones . The only thing Megatron beat into starscream was the fact he never was meant to lead because he lacked the back bone and drive ,he just wants to lead the decepticons he had no real goal like Megatron did . He's like the little brother that sees your new toy and because you have it he wants to play with it . That's it!

In the TFP novels, he was described as a *popular* leader amongst the seekers, most of the seekers only joining the Decepticons out of respect for him. Not to mention, he was rather loyal to Megatron in the beginning of the war and genuinely believed in the Decepticon cause, out of love for his people and planet (while also seeing it as an opportunity to gain more power, multitasking). He only started to become a "back stabber", when Megatron started becoming more careless and apathetic towards the lives of other Decepticons and the planet (in this continuity) - and ultimately, Starscream was proven right, when Megatron literally killed Cybetron and countless of loyal Decepticons for basically nothing. So, you saying he was never meant to lead is just wrong, because he was literally MADE/BORN to lead, and had been successfully doing so until Megatron came around and ruined his life. Not to mention, you saying that Starscream doesn't have "real goals" unlike Megatron is just funny, because like what even is Megatron's goal besides killing Optimus? Megatron had his chance to end slavery and oppression, instead he continued it. Megatron had his chance to take over Cybertron, but he didn't despite the Decepticons having infinitely more resources and firepower than the Autobots. Because Megatron's real goal is just killing Optimus then nothing. And heres the thing, Starscream possibly has the most back bone out of any of the Decepticons purely out of the fact, he's willing to stand up to him despite everything Megatron has done to him. And his constant betrayal has earned him both equal parts ridicule and respect, because it's not that the Decepticons hate Starscream (and even if they do its for personal reasons, outside his leadership). It's that they fear Megatron more, many Decepticons, notably Starscream's former seekers have joined him numerous times in the comics to fight Megatron but get cold feet towards the end. Also, with Skywarp and Thundercracker, the reasoning onto why they were more "trusted" wasn't due to the fact they were more competent -Starscream has more achievements than both of them combined-but was because they just did nothing to make them untrustworthy. Which is funny because both ended up defecting from the Decepticons, while Starscream remained loyal to the cause (cause ≠ Megatron) until the end. In contrast to Megatron, who betrayed the cause (which started with his infatuation with Optimus) and in this continuity his people as well (becoming an Autobot). And ultimately, Starscream achieved everything he wanted which was the revival of Cybertron and a leadership position.
This run dose something that not many properties do: explore SS's behavior, mindset, from HIS perspective. No matter what he dose, no matter what he accomplishes, life tears it away, be it in the form of Megatron, their pre-war society, or a really bad ice storm. So why make attachments, why get close to anyone? Better to keep them at arms length, or longer, preferable with a blaster, and keep striving for so-called selfish gains. Better to choose to be alone, then to be abandoned, or have those you care about be ripped from you. It reminds me of the motto of Timone and Pumba: "When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world", except SS DOSE care about Cyberton, he doesn't turn his back on the planet, maybe the individual, but if he stopped to help everyone, no big picture would get done, and try as he might, he DOSE care about a select few, if only bc they are useful and he see them so much, but then Bumblebee got "killed" and started haunting him, Wingblade comes in preaching morals, and she gets hurt, reinforcing the "being nice is stupid and being near me is unlucky, just leave me alone" mindset, and just as he admits to this philosophy, Bumblebee, leaves too. This SS needs a hug. But through his self sabotage, real sabotage, and the universe continuing having it out for him, I don't think he ever gets one.
I think most of the Starscream needs a hug like transformers prime Starscream used to having all Starscream want respect,power,status, friends,admired,friends bots that actually LIKED HIM JUST BECAUSE HE WAS GREAT GUY but then Megatron tricked/forced him into joining the decepticons and the real kicker is that he wasn't even high status like mirage or tracks but he was happy and that's all it's takes for Starscream to be happy and content life and he lost all that because of and his own doing like it stated in the novel that he looks that in transformers prime is because he lost his original body and Armada Starscream just wanted a respect from Megatron and Transformers earthspark ignoring season 2 because earthspark season 2 he taken back that hashtag BELIEVE HIM WITH NO HESITATION, like he was genuinely surprised in that, that's super sad and getting attacked by your former boss again all in the same day and G1 Starscream who lost his Best friend like damn just giving Starscream a little respect and he turns into the most loyal bot in the universe and he'll die for you
That feeling... the moment you actually try to care about something or someone, but you can't because one way or another you know something will try to destroy it. You want to make something worth it, but you know life will just wait to turn against you.
For anyone who says they feel bad for him wait to u see the IDW spotlight comic about megatron being rebuilt over 3 years that’s the most depressing version of starscream
Bee's got a point. It makes ya think how Starscream could've been loved even AFTER war's end. Starting with being tolerated. Look at Megatron. For fans and character's he's associated with (At this time anyway). Point is, this series delves into the psyche of the characters involved and how war affects them.
To be fair, Starscream is the most disliked Transformer on either side. If anything the Autobots respect him more than the Decepticons (hence in some versions he tries to change sides). It's no wonder he was so desperate to be Decepicon leader and Lord Emperor of Cybertron, it's the only way to get him the status he's been deprived of since he left the Cybertron War Academy. It most be so lonely being Starscream.
The worst thing, probably, is that their relationship is so interesting to watch, how they talk, argue, how others react to it and how Starscream gracefully tries to hide it, that I want to read this comic just for this. But the problem is that, for me personally, these scenes are few, and I found even less fan fiction on this topic. I'll just hope that I can find more scenes with them. With Starscream and Bumblebee, like his hallucination.
