This is literally the most point blank, easily understood, well explained tutorial I've ever heard on anything. I've been waiting to make my own jacket now for about a year and I have no idea what the hell any one else was talking about when the said pattern making and men's bodice. Thank you
Thankyou so much. This was very helpful to me and useful. I just cut out my first ever male basic pattern shirt. I'm in my first year studying fashion tailoring in school. I think you're better than my teacher. Please we need you in our school to come teach us. Have a lovely day
OMG 3 millions years searching for this and until i found this tutorial, it's fantastic, thank you. First, you separated the tutorial into part, so it's clear, you add information on how to take the measurement, then divided to create other measurement that are never brought up, but very important, and you actually teach how to do the bodice. Also, you very charismatic
One of the easiest to follow videos I’ve found, and one of the few on men’s patterns. Make one on grading a men’s pattern. I’m no sure about the math in grading up.
I love your tutorials. You make it super easy for me to draft clothing and sew as a first time sewer. I've already made a bodice for myself that came out really well. I would love to see a tutorial for men's pants.
I know it's been a while but thanks for this tutorial. Using it to make myself a simple work vest to wear while sewing projects (pockets for my most used tools.) I'm a noob so I don't know if I should add seam allowances to these patterns. Going with my hunch and just adding them before cutting. Thanks again!
Could you please explain why you're adding and subtracting these 2.5cm, 3.5cm, 1.5cm etc values... from the measurements, and more importantly where you're getting these seemingly random values from? I find myself too distracted by these sorts of details to follow instructions when it's not thoroughly explained.
Wow. A men's pattern. Thank you. Have you written any of these instructions as pdf files that can be downloaded. It would be handy to print them out so we could first see the videos and then follow the written directions step by step. Excellent instructions.
Hi, I'm working from this instructional, and I'm having a bit of trouble. Because I have an athletic build, my chest measurement is 51.5" (130.81cm). Your armhole measurement is based off of the chest measurement, and because my chest is so big, that is giving me an armhole measurement of 11.375" (28.8925cm) This is an enormous armhole, that goes nearly halfway down the shirt. Is there another way of calculating a more accurate armhole depth?
+Black Diamond DIY Fashion I love the tutorial. You really did a great job. Would you have another video showing how to so the patterns together once they are cut out or would you be able to create that video if you have it already? Thank you!
Hi! I absolutely LOVE your tutorials! They're very easy to follow which helps me out A LOT! I saw your sleeve tutorial and I was wondering of you could make a puffy sleeve tutorial, I would really appreciate it! Also, when will your next video be out? Keep up the great work!
Hi and the first thing I want to say is thank you for your tutorials. They really help me out in my pattern making class. Second I hope you will show more tutorials. Can you show me our to make a collar and a shirt pattern please. Also if so do you know how to make a long Angel wing or Bat wing dress, but long. Thank and miss u :)
Well, it's definitely basic. I don't think I've ever seen a scye consist of identical curves on the front and back. A little research would show that even in the 1880s the scye wasn't done this way. The shape of your french curve is far closer to what a proper scye looks like.
I'm so confused, so this can only be used for tight-fitting garments then? If I wanted to make a jacket i would need to widen all the measurements a little?
Can you make a Peter Pan, tunic pattern? Please! Halloween is in two weeks and I'm just a beginner, at sewing. So I have no idea, how to create a pattern, for the tunic.
Great video, I am trying to make clothing for the Fat Men in the world that fashion forgets, how do I adjust this for someone with a big belly? Thanks, Craig in Missouri
Craig Ferry Instead of measuring around the hip, measure around the largest part of the torso and substitute that measurement for the hip width when making the pattern.
What's with the whole "Divided by 4, then add 3.5" and " Add 2.5" mathematical equations? Is that for the added thickness not a fabric or what? I'm not understanding on these added equations.
Hi i am new in this field I need your help to make pattern for Tee shirt size 6-7 and I dont know how to make the pattern can you please instruct me or make tutorial teach how to make T-shirt pattern and what are the variables have to be considered when making multiple t-shirts sizes ?
hi black diamond this is Yolanda I hope you're well I wonder why you haven't been doing any videos I like to see one in taking a pair of white pants in thank you
Juan Carlos Reyes would you be able to recommend another resource with a better way? I'm starting from nothing but I'd like a decent result after my first attempt.
THIS IS THE CLEAREST TUTORIAL FOR A BASIC BODICE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN!! YOU NEED AN AWARD!!
I totally agree! Finally, I may be able to make a men's basic bodice pattern - even a slim fit!
THANK YOU!!!!! I can finally create a Men's bodice. Please, please.. Can you make more demos on mens. Oh Thank you!!!!
Its not the middle ages any more. Its not fashionable for men to wear skirted shirts.

This is a very clear video! Thanks for the great explanation (and the metric measurement conversions on screen).
As a 3d artist, you have no idea how valuable this video was to me, come back on youtube!!!!!!!
hello, is the 3.5cm you are adding to every equation the seam allowance or ?
This was so helpful. Thanks for adding the inches under the cm! This helped a lot for a beginner and someone from the states. :)
I love the background music. Reminds me of the 90s. 😎
where have you been all my life. you make tisha look so much easier than other tutorials! 🙋🙋I'm subscribing right now
You have made my entire week better. I will be sewing up a storm. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this!
Awesome, that made my entire week better. Would love to see some of the things you make. Throw up a picture on our twitter @BDbyBD
Plz...You see majermant in inches??
Don't understand in c.m.

Did you find an explanation for this?
I guess it's for something called 'ease' where you take into account body movements.
I thinl that's for seam allowance.
it is ease, so you can move sligthly in the garment.
Excellent tutorial. You made my pattern making so much better.
Thank you so much for making these videos.
All the best.

Excellent instructions.
Thank you, you simplify everything and make it fun. I hope you do more like making sport coats, jackets, pants and other things.
Ya, you really had me up until the end, when Precious came out... :) Very cool girl! Informative, fun and user-friendly

Thank you!
Do your measurements include seam allowance? Thankyou :)
Thank you at last i find the best method
Just a question , in this bodice , is the seam allowance included or we shall add it?

You are gold Thank you 🙏
Very nice. Can u help with a basic pattern for a two sided chest guard
Did you upload a video on manipulating the basic men's bodice block to create a jacket or coat?
This is an excellent tutorial! Thank you so much. Can you please provide a link to the type of paper you are using? Thank you so much.
Where did you purchase your French curve? I’ve looked on Amazon but not sure which to buy
Shouldn’t the paper initially be 5cms bigger then the larger of the chest or hip measurement?
THANKS! This is great! I've been looking for this. Great example. Scary end, though. lol.
thank you so much you´re an angel
You are great. Thank you for this information video!

When she creates the back bodice piece, she does change the arm scye so that it has a different curve.
Wonderfull tutorial 😁
Wowwww great video. Can I use the same block for a man suit as well?
I'm so confused, so this can only be used for tight-fitting garments then? If I wanted to make a jacket i would need to widen all the measurements a little?
holy fuck finally a video i understand
Thanks!! you are amazing!!💛
Do you have a toutoral making the whole mans shirt pattern? sleeves, bodice, collar ect.
I'm sorry. I am little bit confuse. Can you please help me? Where did you get the 12 measurement?
Thank you so much its very clear vedio
do oyu have a new channel i don see the mens coat you said you would make? great tutorials btw :)
You showed how to make a slim fit pattern. What about a pattern for us thicker dad bods. How would you lay out a pattern for a man with a gut?
Can you make a Peter Pan, tunic pattern? Please! Halloween is in two weeks and I'm just a beginner, at sewing. So I have no idea, how to create a pattern, for the tunic.
I need a pattern for a large girth - have you made one or could you. Girth is bigger in front than the back
What type of paper should one use? I have a roll of paper here but it looks too thin for this?
At 8.43 why did you draw the curve that particular way???
Great video, I am trying to make clothing for the Fat Men in the world that fashion forgets, how do I adjust this for someone with a big belly?
Thanks,
Craig in Missouri
Craig Ferry Instead of measuring around the hip, measure around the largest part of the torso and substitute that measurement for the hip width when making the pattern.
Excellent 👍 you are the best and so beautiful

hi, may i request for trousers utorial? i find you're tutorial will be helpfull since i cant find any other good tutorial >< thanks
So did you ever do the coat tutorial
Do you have a tutorial of a basic mens slopper?
this patterns included a seam allowance I'm assuming. what's the s.a?
I keep getting armhole gaping in the back and front. any resolve?
This isn't a proper armscye, that's why. This block would only work on very few men whose body shape was perfectly-proportioned. It's not your fault.
@@ashsaraswat3471 thank you
V good tutorial
can you do a tutorial on bottoms ^__^
How much do I add for button and button hole at the front pattern?
When are you coming back? I like your videos ):
I understood this video quite nicely thank you.
Hi is the numbers below I'm inches
Hi, this Bebe I admire the way you cut and sew the blouse but I would like to show how to sew a blouse thank you bs
do you have a tutorial for tshirt with sleeves thnx
hi black diamond this is Yolanda I hope you're well I wonder why you haven't been doing any videos I like to see one in taking a pair of white pants in thank you
nice nice
I am confuse about the neck hole part.
no hem guide?
Ooow thre is best
your music is way to loud in between scenes
There is no balance on your shoulder slope, and the angle looks way off
I don't claim these patterns as the only solution to making clothes. I'm only passing on what works for me on to viewers.
agree
how to make continuos collar for women
who is your teacher dear.. the armhole is wrong.. the back neck to low.. its only take 1.5 cm or 2 cm not more than that.
I want more videos on zipper hood
came out way to short :( i'd add a bit extra onto the full lenth
Ironing the paper will stop it rolling
Armhole like this? oh no, there is no balance , there is no real shape of the armhole , at firs you must build a grid, the front and back sides
Karen Gishyan could you recommend a better example? I'm starting from nothing but I'd like to get a decent result on my first attempt
please make a pant pattern
hi, I love your tutorials but will like if you can show us a pant basic pattern. thank you
The way you drafted tha back neck is wrong is too low
No it isn't. Bodices can either stop at the waist or at the hip. There's nothing wrong with it.
2
Wtf! The armhole is super wrong and there is no ease on the shoulders, the neck line is also absolutely wrong
Juan Carlos Reyes would you be able to recommend another resource with a better way? I'm starting from nothing but I'd like a decent result after my first attempt.
yeah same for me
