I kind of feel like they wanted to keep enough the same so the aftermarket parts still worked. Can you image how PO everyone would be if they changed all the parts ever so slightly. Seems like they did a good job on this one. Some new parts but overall most extras we all have already will mod it up nicely.

My AX24 should be arriving on Monday, I dont use any brass on my 1/10 trucks but after using my SCX24 for a few weeks I up graded wheels and tires to Injora alloys and RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MT/R and brass knuckles and that was a huge improvement in handling. So already ordered some RC4WD Scramblers, Injora alloy wheels, set of Comp Pin Multi Terrains Tires and brass knuckles. I love the 24s so easy to stash in a regular backpack when youre having a day out and crawl anytime.

I expected it to need modding, so your video gives me a better idea of what I'll need to start with to get the performance I'm wanting. As always, very informative content with tons of good video to go along with it. Thanks for doing this for the RC community!

Hey Matt this was a great review!!!
The satire at the beginning was awesome!!! Especially becsuse that's not the normal for you. So it was a fun surprise. (I actually watched just that part 3 times...lol)
As always, I appreciate your honesty and even humbly admitting that you may have been to hard on it and enjoying it more than you thought you would have. That's not an easy thing to do. So good on you for putting ego aside and just being honest!!!
To me it seems like instead of somebody like me spending the money on something like this THAN spending all the money i would need to spend to replace all the stock parts and mod out the issues, I'd just be better off starting with a mofo or injora or some other buggy platform and just build it from the ground up no?
Instead of starting with this than basically ripping it all apart anyway...lol
Regardless... I can't wait to see what you do with your conservative and extreem builds that you have planned!!!! 😊👍

I appreciate this comment so much! I totally try to let people know how I feel about each Rc. Even if that means I totally flip my opinion once I run it. I was pretty hard on this one and really stand by my thoughts on it as far as they should’ve did more but I’m totally enjoying it so I’m not going to hide that. This is probably my favorite rtr scx24 so far and I won’t try to hide that. So even though I feel like they should’ve changed a few things, I think this is the best scx24 for performance they’ve offered yet! Really appreciate you and this comment 🙏

I think the major flaw in this kit is how bad the ESC's modulation is. It could have been a good starter kit for people since it would have had a good radio, a good receiver/ESC/4ws combo, 2 front axles w/steering links, and semi-decent tires. The value would have been there, but not now.
Also, why purposely bring back a high CG chassis like that? Do none of the 3rd party LCG chassis inspire them at all?

    Some interesting things-
Where i thought this rig would be best would be the esc and tx- glad to hear the tx is good but i am surprised by the esc. Its 2023, a company like axial should be able to source a good one.
You mentioned that thing will be a good performer with just a little work and i agree- from my perspective though i think having the 2 servos and the less common chassis and parts will mean that a little work will be a lot more expensive. I am inclined to think that an scx with $100 in mods would out perform an ax24 with $100 on mods- but that will be interesting to see, i could be 1000% wrong.
Do you think a person could upgrade the front servo and leave the rear stock? Do you think the rear servo undergoes less stress and less frequent use?

I feel that all they really needed to do is design a new lcg frame(ie cheat code, gecko, goblin style) and then the flat skid wider rock sliders to fit bigger bodies, better servos/shocks and this thing would be a beast of a rtr similar to the furitek cayman. If they litterally did the same thing furitek did but made it 4ws and without the brushless motor/esc it would be a beast and they could have still kept it under 200
