Trump cheated on his pregnant wife, Melania, with Karen McDougal ($150,000 hush money) and Stormy Daniels ($130,000 hush money, documented, PAID BY falsification of business records, mind you), all to directly influence the 2016 presidential election, of which is election interference, and is in direct violation of federal campaign laws. 💙💙💙DESTROY sexual abuser, tax fraud-committing DONALD TRUMP! Ah but she peeks! There is a different standard for the rich and powerful when it comes to a lot of criminal activity. It's not that they are less guilty than common folk but it comes down to a question of greater impact upon the rich guy, particularly if he/she is a known public figure. In law, a determination of what is fair punishment for one individual might not be the same for another person, even if they have committed the exact same crime. I'm not referring to prior offences playing a role here but rather differing statuses. The standard consequences of many small time crimes (pot possession for example) have been swept under the legal carpet for the rich man because they are deemed to severe for the rich man who might face public scrutiny and reputational damage resulting in financial loss etc. Thus the normal punishment that a commoner would get is too much for the rich man.
      But should this translate to someone who is power mad and wants to takeover the country? Of course not. Trump has seen whatever positive reputation he held within the rational majority general public go up in flames like that fool who set himself alight a few days ago. Still it would seem the system is treating him with kid gloves for the time being. Public scrutiny might be viewed as a punishment for his violations of gag orders. I don't agree with this idea but I think it is in the minds of the judges. Obviously such scrutiny is no deterrent. Just the opposite in fact!

    • @MMuraseofSandvich
      @MMuraseofSandvich Месяц назад

      _Why is Trump allowed to make comments outside the courtroom?_
      Because he's a moron with a First Amendment right to free speech, who does not listen to good legal advice.
      "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
      _Or maybe a better question is, why is the press allowed in the courthouse?_
      That's the question we all need to be asking the newsrooms. Why are they huddled outside the courtroom, giving Donald free publicity and free press conferences? They're not doing it to inform their audiences, anyone reading the AP can be informed about the case without all the breathless reality TV drama on the major networks.
      _Exactly when is Trump going to be held in contempt?_
      That's up to Judge Merchan. It's clear that neither Donald nor his attorney are listening to the judge's orders in good faith, so something is going to give. And Judge Merchan has wide discretion here because it's his courtroom and he has a duty to ensure that the public record is crystal clear.

      I politely disagree. At the end the jury decide and the judge provides judgement and sentencing, so don't forget that the Judge can then roll into the sentencing all the violations of the gag order, the issues with the attorney, the defence council and so on. So there is no doubt that the judge "keeps score" and can then roll those into why he sentences the perpetrator and his legal defence with whatever he chooses. There has to be due process till then and everyone knows there will be no free ride on any of this. The Judge is ensuring that there is a quick, efficient and solid trial so there is no mistrial and no issues to get this done as soon as possible.

    • @prodemocracyseth
      @prodemocracyseth Месяц назад

      This case just started. How is he already losing credibility? Have you not been paying attention. It not up to the Judge to catch violations. It's up to the prosecutor to catch them and then file for a hearing. Which was held this morning. Because the judge didn't want to taint the testimony of the first witness this afternoon during the criminal case, he was going to give his ruling afterwards. Either by tomorrow or the next day he will rule on the violations to his gag order. He literally told Trump's lawyers they were losing credibility with him already. This isn't a civil court like the courts we've gotten used to seeing Trump in and the Judges not doing much. Mainly because they were civil judges only. This is a criminal court, for a criminal case, with a criminal Judge. A Judge that is used to dealing with smarter criminals than Trump and gas already proven he isn't going to play Trump's stupid delay games.

      A few possibilities:
      1) They will have to find a secure place to put him..AND his Secret Service detail. The Secret Service is in the process of trying to determine how to do that according to several different news agencies. Until then they don’t have a whole lot of options. We don’t have a Super Max that has a spare wing for him and all his detail.
      2) The judge is trying to play it safe so that there’s fewer chances of a successful appeal.
      3) Many people, including myself, thinks he is baiting the judge so that he does put him in jail so he can play the martyr. That just gives him more chances to play the victim and raise more money.
