      Unfortunately, the US Constitution only has three requirements for POTUS:
      1. Be at least 35 years old
      2. Be a natural born citizen
      3. Have been a resident within the US for 14 years
      There is nothing in the constitution prohibiting a felon from running the country (which is wrong in my opinion).

      The advantage they have over him is, it's a lifetime appointment. It's hard to remove a SC justice- not impossible, but difficult.
      Plus, Trump is no threat to them unless he gets back into the WH, which is unlikely. That would be his only way to orchestrate their removal.
      They understand that Trump is no threat to them now.
      I doubt Trump's threats bother them.
      They don't have to stay loyal to him or "return the favor" of his appointing them to the SC.
      Obviously, Trump expects their "loyalty" to him in return for their jobs. But he can do nothing about it other than rant about their "disloyalty" to him.

      ​@@kathylewis2484- it would make sense if it were mandatory that any judge/justice nominated/appointed by the defendant (or plaintiff), in any case before the court, absolutely MUST recuse themselves from presiding over said case. For the "immunity" case, the three justices would be required to recuse themselves or be disallowed from hearing or ruling on the case. Same for the _judge_ / loose Cannon in the Florida case - she shouldn't even have been approved to sit on the bench in the first place, she is NOT qualified to preside over anything beyond traffic tickets!

      @@dalbriggss With the exception of presumptive sentencing judges and juries generally have some leeway in sentencing. I have no idea what NY sentencing guidelines are for falsifying business records, but I hope it's not less than a year.

      If the rules were any other way, how easy do you think it might be for someone in office to have their opponent imprisoned in order to prevent them from running?
      It's a good rule. Unfortunately, bad actors (like Trump) can sometimes take advantage of it.

    I am grateful that I got to watch this. I was conflicted about how I felt about Trump loosing his voting rights. I am a returning citizen and a person in long term recovery.     Electoral official in Canada here.
    Here, the idea that someone would lose his voting right for anything other than breaking election law is simply ludicrous!
    Convicts have citizenship, so why should they lose their voting rights?
    (It wasn’t always like that… At one time, both prisoners and… judges! did not have the right to vote…)

The drafters of the Constitution were well aware of this, which is why they created a system for amending it.     Yes if you are a convicted felon in Florida you are not allowed to vote however you are allowed to be president. However the Supreme Court of the United States will find him immune of everything. It will take the people to do something about the Supreme Court
