@@megat6054 I mean Nami still loves Sanji though. Yes she was very upset when she saw Sanji literally beat up Luffy, but she is a very emotional person so she was just broken during that scene. But many episodes later, she literally misses Sanji in a lot of scenes. Some people may bring up Nami's "I won't forgive you." moment to Sanji as a sign that she hates him, but those scenes is just her doing her usual comedic expressions, like just take Nami blackmailing Zoro with his huge debt for example and Nami never even bother if Zoro didn't pay his debt. And for those people who hated Sanji more in this arc, then that's their problem because this arc shows what humanity is capable of and Sanji perfectly represents the good traits of a human

But what makes it worse is when there is moments like this in wci for example. It all goes back to being sanji's fault. The Luffy vs Sanji special was something you really needed to "be there" for. Unfortunately the constant cutaways seems to make the episode show its age a bit with newer viewers, but when this came out in real time, Toei practically made a day out of it and it was really cool to see it get that level of treatment.
The thing that makes this hard to watch is that we know Sanji is lying to himself, we know that Luffy can tell this, and he chooses to take such a severe beating from Sanji because he won’t fight his friend in a situation like this.
This is the exact opposite of the Usopp situation in Water Seven where the conflict arised because Usopp was being too true to himself and didn't want to abandon Merry despite knowing there was no hope for her

They're both about making a rash decision and forcing themselves to follow through with their decision instead of listening to their friend. On that note, my view of the Usopp/Luffy drama was that Usopp really considered Merry a whole ass part of the crew, as to where Luffy and the rest only thought of Merry as a really neat tool and didn't view merry as one of them until merry saved their ass and finally spoke. Usopp was 100% in the right, but Luffy is 100% the Captain and you gotta do what the captain says regardless. That's the reason Usopp is shown as being in the wrong. Personally, Luffy should've considered that it was the first time Usopp had ever been that dead ass serious about anything and put some more thought into it, and Sanji should've listened to Luffy and believed in his captain. Edit: You gotta also realize that Sanji wasn't around for the fight at Dressrosa. It's safe to assume that he doesn't know about Gear 4 yet.

The Usopp / Luffy drama was about Usopp finally confronting his insecurities regarding abandonment and perceived lack of strength, and Luffy finally having to make the difficult decisions that are required by him as captain, and sticking with it.

During Water 7 Luffy starts the conversation in the worst way possible and Usoop refuses to listen to reasoning even after the situation is explained eventually causing Luffy to get pissed and they fight when Usoop requests it. Luffy learned from that how painful it is to hurt your nakama and how he would never want to do that again so he didn't fight Sanji and took the blows knowing the whole time the pain Sanji was feeling because he's already made the same mistake before.
Also gotta give a special mention to Nami; despite being in a very similar situation to Sanji with Arlong, her reaction here is reasonable. Here you have Sanji, the one man Nami would never be afraid of because of how much he respects and loves her and would do anything for her, and you also have Luffy, the man that liberated her village and saved her from her turmoil, the man she is 100% loyal to. And here, you have said man that Nami has never been afraid of, beating to man she’s 100% loyal to half to death For the first time, she looks at Sanji and she’s SCARED. She’s distrustful. Her walking up to Sanji without the “-kun” at the end signifies how low she thinks of him now in this moment. Her use of “sayonara” as well is important, because typically the Straw Hats use “jaa ne” or “matta ne”. They all mean “see you later” Sayonara is a more permanant word, “goodbye forever” or “I’ll never see you again”. It hurts watching this episode all over again ngl, so impactful. Let’s not even get started on the Memories montage, my LORD

You would not believe the amount of people that dont get why Sanji acted the way he did and would even say stuff like "If Zoro was there he would have attacked Sanj for what he did"(Mostly Zoro fans say this) . Which is stupid, because if anyone in the crew understands sanji the most is zoro and vice versa ,which is why they are always arguing with each other.

Not just disrespect towards his captain, who had told Nami to stay out of this at the very start, but also disrespect as a swordsman. Zoro knows the importance of duel etiquette, one such rule being “NEVER INTERRUPT”. Also, Zoro’s seen Sanji pull this self-sacrificing stunt before, so there’s that previous context to factor in. Sanji's situation was totally different he was protecting his friends, he thought his decision is right and was willing to give up his dreams for his friends, as for why luffy didn't fight sanji was because he didn't go there to fight him while ussop has challenged luffy for a duel and sanji just wanted to chase away 😢💔
Luffy when it comes to his crews emotions and dreams is smart he knew exactly how sanji was hurting and telling him the hard truth that's what captain does he learned that during the ussop spat
Thank you for combining 807 and 808! Without fail, Episode 808 gets me crying every single time, one of my favourite episodes in the series. Some of their biggest flaws for the both of them are really highlighted here; Luffy’s selfishness when it comes to wanting Sanji back and going against his wishes to leave him alone, and Sanji’s overwhelming self-sacrificial nature and kindness leading to yet another person to get hurt by it Also, Luffy’s emotional intelligence is SPOT ON when it comes to Sanji. Luffy telling Sanji he won’t eat ANYTHING until Sanji comes back was the absolute right thing to say, because Sanji has been told he’s UNWANTED and UNNEEDED pretty much his entire life; now there’s someone importan in his life to affirm the opposite. “Without you I can’t be King of the Pirates” also FORCES Sanji to come back, because Sanji’s dream is intertwined with Luffy’s. Sanji doesn’t just want his own dream to become a reality, he’s on the crew for Luffy too. If Luffy says he can’t succeed without him, then that’s that. God I could write a whole essay on this one episode alone, it’s so good

I really hate how Crunchyroll split this episode up. 807 & 808 are really just one long episode and it is pretty noticeable to tell since there are more eye catches, 807 just ends abruptly, and 808 has no title card. For production reasons they are numbered separately but they aired as a single episode. Crunchyroll splitting it just ruins the flow. Funimation used to have them together as a single episode and it was so much better that way.
This episode always just... hit me. Luffy just knows his friends' true feelings and he always knows how to get them out. He might be a dumbass, but he's the best protagonist on an emotional level
It annoys people sometimes when One Piece takes a break right before a peak episode but I'm so glad they replaced episodes like 807 with unnumbered recap episodes in later seasons. It improves the pacing and animation quality a ton to just sometimes not have an episode that week.
There actually wasn't an episode the week that 807 was supposed to aire. Instead we got episode 110 of Dragon Ball Super, which was the debut of ultra instinct.
i think usopp vs luffy was more heartbreaking because here we know that sanji is forced and he will return but with usopp and the merry crying and the merry that cant be fixed all of that made it more heartbreaking to me (my personal opinion)

Also gotta give a special mention to Nami; despite being in a very similar situation to Sanji with Arlong, her reaction here is reasonable. Here you have Sanji, the one man Nami would never be afraid of because of how much he respects and loves her and would do anything for her, and you also have Luffy, the man that liberated her village and saved her from her turmoil, the man she is 100% loyal to. And here, you have said man that Nami has never been afraid of, beating to man she’s 100% loyal to half to death
For the first time, she looks at Sanji and she’s SCARED. She’s distrustful. Her walking up to Sanji without the “-kun” at the end signifies how low she thinks of him now in this moment. Her use of “sayonara” as well is important, because typically the Straw Hats use “jaa ne” or “matta ne”. They all mean “see you later” Sayonara is a more permanant word, “goodbye forever” or “I’ll never see you again”. It hurts watching this episode all over again ngl, so impactful. Let’s not even get started on the Memories montage, my LORD

You would not believe the amount of people that dont get why Sanji acted the way he did and would even say stuff like "If Zoro was there he would have attacked Sanj for what he did"(Mostly Zoro fans say this) . Thank you for combining 807 and 808! Without fail, Episode 808 gets me crying every single time, one of my favourite episodes in the series. Some of their biggest flaws for the both of them are really highlighted here; Luffy’s selfishness when it comes to wanting Sanji back and going against his wishes to leave him alone, and Sanji’s overwhelming self-sacrificial nature and kindness leading to yet another person to get hurt by it
Also, Luffy’s emotional intelligence is SPOT ON when it comes to Sanji. Luffy telling Sanji he won’t eat ANYTHING until Sanji comes back was the absolute right thing to say, because Sanji has been told he’s UNWANTED and UNNEEDED pretty much his entire life; now there’s someone importan in his life to affirm the opposite. “Without you I can’t be King of the Pirates” also FORCES Sanji to come back, because Sanji’s dream is intertwined with Luffy’s. Sanji doesn’t just want his own dream to become a reality, he’s on the crew for Luffy too. If Luffy says he can’t succeed without him, then that’s that. God I could write a whole essay on this one episode alone, it’s so good

I really hate how Crunchyroll split this episode up. 807 & 808 are really just one long episode and it is pretty noticeable to tell since there are more eye catches, 807 just ends abruptly, and 808 has no title card. For production reasons they are numbered separately but they aired as a single episode. Crunchyroll splitting it just ruins the flow. Funimation used to have them together as a single episode and it was so much better that way.

This episode always just... hit me. Luffy just knows his friends' true feelings and he always knows how to get them out. He might be a dumbass, but he's the best protagonist on an emotional level
807 and 808 were a one-hour special, so all the flashbacks were clearly for peope who've never seen One Piece.
It annoys people sometimes when One Piece takes a break right before a peak episode but I'm so glad they replaced episodes like 807 with unnumbered recap episodes in later seasons. It improves the pacing and animation quality a ton to just sometimes not have an episode that week.
There actually wasn't an episode the week that 807 was supposed to aire. Instead we got episode 110 of Dragon Ball Super, which was the debut of ultra instinct.
