    • @MrGreaves
      @MrGreaves 4 года назад +6

      British One the doctor’s daughter was a very mediocre episode with some great moments for me. I really liked the whole concept of the Doctor finding a new reason to live only to have it stripped away, and the line about the time lords being a shared knowledge and shared suffering was quite emotional and powerful

    • @ryaneasterling1556

      @@MrGreaves That is kinda my problem with the episode, Introduce a new status quo change just to have it taken taken away and not really have impact anything, classic serial show trope, if the daughter character joined up as a companion we could have had some great exploration of interesting concepts in future episodes

    • @MrGreaves
      @MrGreaves 4 года назад +2

      Ryan Easterling good point, I’m kinda left wishing she stuck around for maybe the finale. The whole “finding a new reason to live only to have it stripped away” idea would be a lot more impactful then, especially seeing as how much he actually loses in that episode

He’s crying because everything backfired but laughing out of half disbelief and half acceptance that this could happen. Like he knew that it could happen when he dealt with the Sontaran’s but didn’t believe it would come to it. To me that didn’t feel like bad acting it felt like an intentional performance of desperation, regret, disbelief and acceptance of the situation all in one scene

    In fairness to the writer, Steven Moffat was originally supposed to write the Dalek two-parter, but he "messed them around" at the last minute, and took the Doctor-light story to make up for it; hence, Blink.
    Helen had to write *two episodes* (and Dalek episodes no less) with very little time. Blame Steven #moffatmustgo

    I forget in which episode of this 2 parter this is (I think the first one) but 10 runs out of the mansion and into the car, and as he gets into the car, you can see the green screen from the car window. It's hard to tell because it's easily mistaken for the lawn as it happens so fast haha

    Great review as always but Jo doesn't ask her car to drive her to UNIT but she was using voice recognition to programme a SatNav route. Much like Google Maps or the good ol' Tom Tom SatNav of the day.
    To be honest, Driverless cars are a terrible idea, not only does it scream car accidents but cars are an excuse to not walk anywhere so it just screams laziness. Things are Hella bad if humans have gotten so lazy to actually drive. If Skyrim had a Laziness branch on its skill tree, this'd be Laziness 100.

    This may sound like an odd opinion, but did anyone else feel like they were setting up Ross to prehaps be a future companion,
    Like I could see him being a unit officer that realises that to defeat the intergalactic horrors of the universe, Unit cant just open fire and rain lead and nukes on them,
    And perhaps this would give the doctor a reason to take ross alongside him for a few adventures to show him how guns, despite what ross was told in his Unit training, are bloody pointless against aliens.
    Dont get me wrong I know he dies, but the chemistry between him and the doctor,
    The grief the Doctor had on his face when he realised Ross was dead,
    It just felt like they're could of been some build up for his character, and maybe set him up to either work alongside Martha in some sort of Spin off Show or join the doctor in 2 or 3 episodes

    7:10 I never noticed how white Martha's teeth are, girl is surely brushing her teeth properly, wow.
    8:40 To be honest I'm not a fan of this episode, but also it is not bad. It had some strong moments, and comparing to what we had in other seasons it is ok. Still it does feel lackluster with what this season also had to offer. But being one of the mediocre episode from the best season of NuWho is still better than being the best out of the worst season of NuWho.

    I really like the Doctor's Daughter episode. Great premise & sci-fi setting with the civil war--which has great pacing & twists. Jinny is such a great character that brings about really interesting moments between the doctor, her, and Donna. & it has another great anti-war message that personifies Tenant's doctor
