Bhagavan Das Meets Kali at the Funeral Pyres #3

- Renowned guru-musician-story-teller extraordinaire, Bhagavan Das, sits down with Mitchell in A Better World Studio of grass-roots TV in NYC, and tells him of his beatific, Divine encounter with Kali as he was meditating on impermanance at the funeral pyres. Just hold on!
This was the third of three interviews over the a few years in the mid-1990's.
The first was on Nada Yoga, the Sounds of the Chakras. Bhagavan Das and then girlfriend walk us through by intoning the sounds of each--a beautiful experience.
The second was on Bhagavan Das' taking Harvard psychologist Dr. Richard Alpert on the spiritual adventure of his lifetime---through Nepal, India, pyschedelics, right on up to introducing him to the man who became Alpert's guru and gave him the name he became world-known by, Baba Ram Das, Neem Karoli Baba. It's a story woven by master story-teller Bhagavan Das in a way you don't want to miss.

Wow, that Kali story was amazing. BD is something else...A lot of people criticize him but not many western teachers have really lived the life of a renunciate the way he did. He really went for it and received Darshan of Sri Kali herself in form. Jai Sri Kali Maa

I spent a few weeks doing Aghori Vamacharia Sadhana in the Manikarnika cremation ground in Kashi, under the wise magic guidence of s Paramahamsa and aBhairavi, that culminated in the 5M's ritual. It was one of the most holy, instructive and liberating experience in my ten years living in India
His teachings are more relevant for present times as he has experienced everything in this time.Interpretations thus are more practical and useful. At older times present issues were not there so they didn't needed to mention and address core issues spiritual practitioners are facing. Thanks a lot for sharing. Jay Kali om namah shivay

Quickest way to trip is through fasting. His kalima story was clearly an intense hallucination. I met n chanted with BD n his new woman last year after he recovered from his accident. Wrote a great memoir.

I spent Many nights at the burning ghats I liked sitting close. I tell the readers the smell of burning body stays with you. The wind would shift towards me every now and then. The first shiv darshan at manikarnika was terrifying seeing the flames melting body so close up I literally walked within inches enough the flames pushed me backwards but I realized where I was, I felt the heat scared the daylights out of me. Fire consuming upward rib cage all aflame fire commimg out the eye sockets. Dear reader make your own experience. I confess It is trulynot a very a romantic place to go on a date. There is a connection between death and fucking. Excuse my language
