I used to go see my aunts, uncles and cousins in Malden and Melrose when I was growing up and we used to ride the trains for fun, the orange line had an elevated section going through Roxbury back then. I had plenty of trains to ride on when I lived in Germany but not here in Ohio.

Interesting bus and streetcar ads. In several scenes, the ads are mounted above the windows, along the roof, facing the street. In NYC there used to be something called "batwings." They were illuminated but shorter. These ads on Boston transit look like they are about double in height. Bus at 5:10. Two streetcars at 7:00.

OMG so many memories....! Although I'm such an old bag I have a few memories of trains on what ( I believe?) was called the Highland Branch, before the Green Line --Riverside began in 1959

Hi yawhause, Thanks for watching and for your comment. Your memories are slightly older than mine, but at least the Highland Branch became and useful and practical transit operation instead of just another abandoned train line like so many others around that time. Regards, tassiebaz.

Hi StrassenbahnFilmGuy, Thanks for watching and for your comment. Places I have visited that operated multiple-unit PCCs include Cleveland (Shaker Heights) and Toronto. Also, technically not PCCs, Philadelphia Suburban (Red Arrow) ran multiple-units with their St. Louis cars. There may have been others, but I personally had not visited them (e.g., Pacific Electric). San Francisco also ran multiple PCC’s through the mountain tunnel. They would couple trolleys from different lines into one to get through the tunnel to downtown.

Cool compilation. Unfortunately, I'm a late millennial who never got to experience the streetcar system. Makes me wonder if we should bring back streetcars in a mixed traffic modality like the GL E branch for some underserved neighborhoods like nubian square, Chelsea, and Watertown. Certainly can't be any worse than the 'silver line'.

Hi a dog, Thanks for watching and for your comment. I'm glad you liked the presentation and appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Sorry you missed the "good old days". I'm all for new streetcar services and many cities have done just that. Boston did have a streetcar line to Watertown which was closed in 1969 and replaced with a bus. I did ride it a few times to Watertown, and then rode the recently abandoned trolleybus line back. The streetcar line ran from Watertown through Newton Corner, Brighton, and Allston to Kenmore Square, then used the Boylston Street subway and Tremont Street subway to reach Park Street station. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.

Hi Ryans, Thanks for watching and for the information. I did an Internet search and found that as of November 2023, the Windber Trolley Graveyard is no more. All the cars have either been sold to museums, trolley car collectors, or scrapped. Sad that there was a large collection of vintage cars that weren't restored. At least some of the cars, or at least the parts, went to museums. See "pabucketlist.com/peer-behind-the-gates-of-the-windber-trolley-graveyard/. Cheers, tassiebaz.

@@RyansColoradoRailProductions You would think, in an ideal world, someone would be interested in the cars if they were half-decent. Don't know if San Francisco is interested in more cars, but they would fit in perfectly there. Philadelphia could certainly use more for Route 15, but that's another story. Kenosha probably has enough for what they are running or plan to run. (When I was there, they only needed one.) Boston, El Paso, ???? Hopefully, they won't just continue to rot.
