    *** Please Read*** These Antifreeze fluids have gotten better so I may leave it in there for 5 to 7 years. At the end, I fill it to the top, wait a few minutes, and top it off if necessary. Put that cap back on and run it till it starts to circulate, you can watch your temp gauge when it gets up to normal temp range, turn the engine off and wait about an hour, then slowly open the radiator cap and top it off. I do this a few times till all the air is out. Also, top off the coolant reservoir there's a line on the side of the tank. This is what works for me.

    Maintenance such as oil changes and coolant drain and fill are super easy diy to save money for consumers. I always encourage customers to complete their own oil changes as they are simple. My time is more valuable with other more complex problems. Well done!

      True,
      But there's some people out there that don't know how to do this. Its a good thing you know how.

      New synthetic motor oil‘s can last much longer than conventional motor oil as long as you match synthetics oil with a synthetic oil filter you can go as much as the manufacturer guarantees on the bottle such as mobile ones annual oil . If you’re using conventional motor oil then you should be changing it every 3 to 5000 miles you would be stupid to run it longer than that. But that’s where synthetic comes in it’s better than conventional!

    Thanks! I have the exact same Explorer, color and 2door so it's fantastic to see the same things in the video rather than sometimes having to adapt from a different year or model! Definitely subscribed! 😁🤓🤙

      Hi Dan,
      That's awesome. This is my 3rd Explorer, the first two I had were 4-door automatics, a 91 and 92 but this one is much more fun to drive. Thanks!👍

    @13:37 you still have air purging from the system. Don't put the cap on until it stops. You're trapping air and it will run hot.

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  Год назад

      If you listened to the video I said I was going to do the same procedure one more time. In my opinion that will get all the air out of the system

    Prestone "yellow bottle" coolant has said "All Makes/All Models" since 2004. The bottle labeling has changed recently, but it's prominently said "All Makes/All Models" on every version since 2004.

      Thanks I never noticed.
      I do have an old bottle to compare to ( I just looked) and the print was much smaller before and the claim was 5yrs. 150,000 miles. The bottle now says 10yrs. 300,000 miles.
      Hey, Thanks for the Info! 👍

      @@WhipCityWrencher You're welcome. Also, 3 years is way too quick to be changing out these modern, OAT coolants. I've even run 5 year coolants like the pre-Corguard Prestone more than 5 years with no issues at all. I would strongly recommend leaving this in 10 years and just checking the level periodically and topping off as needed.

      I wouldn't run any coolant longer than 3-5 years I don't give a damn what their "claim" is.

      Instead of filling it up through the radiator cap, can i just do this in the overflow bottle ?

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  3 года назад

      @@lightningsmokerXx No, unless your coolant system is different than this one. (You can top it off at the overflow container). But if you drain the whole system you need to fill the radiator back up again which also fills the engine block at the same time, minus a few air pockets. Make sure you put in the same amount that came out or you'll have overheating problems. Hope this helps. Let me know how it comes out.

    What about Rangers before 97?

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  Год назад

      I believe the older Rangers came with 3 different size engines 4.0, 3.0, and a 4-cylinder. You can use the same antifreeze the total amount of antifreeze may be different though

    It's better to leave the radiator cap on until all the coolant is sucked out of the coolant reservoir.

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  2 года назад

      I think it's best to leave the cap off and empty the reservoir separately.

    It is important to drain or can I just put the coolant with the water

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  3 года назад

      I'm not sure I understand what your asking? if you mean will it get mixed up the answer is yes. You can put the water and coolant separately as long as you put in equal amounts it will all get mixed up in your radiator and engine.
      Thanks for watching! Hope I answered your question.👍🙏😊

    Did you not have to drain the air out?

    • @scottrussell6717
      @scottrussell6717 Год назад

      It's very easy to burp the system.. lot of cars have bleeders to get most of the air out

    • @squirrelcovers6340

      ALWAYS run the heater on on highest setting in order to circulate to avoid airlock.
